How to use articles most effectively
-
I have a client that is expert in her field and is great at writing detailed articles but am not sure exactly how to use this to her advantage. I would greatly appreciate advice from any expert in this field on how to use this to build links and improve on the popularity of her site.
Thanks for your help!

You want to put out unique content. Article directories have a ton of links, are not as relevant, and as a result, have low link value. It takes a while to write a quality article. Use your time on what will have the highest return.
It's best to put your content directly on your site, blog, and supplement that with guest blogging. All of it unique and high quality.
-
Put your best content on your own website. Have her create an incredible resource section for her field. Literally, aim to make it the BEST CONTENT ON THE WEB for that topic.
Other high quality content can be shopped around to relevant blogs and informational websites for guest post opportunities, as Daniel pointed out. But in order to get the most mileage from your content, put it on your own website. Then, let other webmasters and bloggers know about the INCREDIBLE resource you have created - if your content is really the best on the web, you should have no problem getting people to link to it.
-
Thanks Daniel - much appreciate your advice! Would you by any chance know the strength of posting/syndicating in Article Directories as well? Is there any particular one that shows to be better than others?
-
Also, if she has the time to regularly write, have her start a blog for her site. This will draw in searchers to her main site and when she continually puts out great information, people will want her to guest blog.
-
Finding opportunities for her to write articles should be easy if she is a recognized expert. If she is under the radar, she will have to win over authors of popular related blogs and sites with engaging content. A simple Google search should discover which informational sites rank highly for your industry. Have her study the sites, find out what kind of content makes the blog/site, and then write a guest article catered to that blog/site.

Multiple guest posts from one site have any effect on rankings?
I have started guest blogging and have sites asking me for more content. I understand that regular guest blogging is great for building authority as an author and has the potential to get more links through word of mouth and other sites linking to me. The more posts I do the more exposure I get. But if I have say 3 or 4 posts on an external site with each linking to my site (to a different url and with different anchor text) does that have any effect on rankings as all links come from the same domain? As I understand it links from different root domains are what matters. Presumably a site with links from 5 different sites with 10 links on each external domain totalling 50 links wouldn't rank as well as a site with links from 50 different domains (1 per domain)?

Thoughts on using the disavow tool for removed links?
Our website has been penalized by Google for the past few months due to unnatural links. We have spent the past 2 months submitting link removal requests to the domain owners with success. However, the Google Webmaster Tools "links to site" has not updated the list. I understand that they update the list of links as they crawl the website, but it has been 6-8 weeks on a lot of them (mostly our biggest offenders). We attempted to send a reconsideration request anyways, hoping Google would see that even though it is still listed, the link isn't actually there. We received a response that it is still in violation, but I believe it is because the webmaster tools links have not updated and perhaps this is what they go off of. Would you recommend submitting these domains to the disavow tool even though our link has already been removed for the past 6-8 weeks? Or even just listing them with the "#" comment tag so they can see they had been removed? Or would you continue waiting for it to update? Of course, we would like the penalty removed as soon as possible and were concerned that the list hadn't removed these websites the past 6-8 weeks our link had been removed. Example: This domain shows we have 3,397 within this website. It was an affiliate that had this URL forwarding to our pages: http://www.binet.lv/go.pl?PID=49276714O2422 . This no longer forwards to our webpage and the affiliate has been expired, but the GWT still shows them at the top of the links list. I also noticed a lot of sites left the links up, but added the nofollow attribute. These are still coming up in the Links list and does not decipher between which do and do not have nofollow. Could the spammy sites with our links as nofollow still be hurting us? Thanks for any help and recommendations!

If I write an article that contains a link back to my site, should I post in only one place or can I post it several times?

Which link building method is most effective?
I have been looking at different seo companies for link building. I found a ranked list on Topseos.com. Many of them offer the same services as offshore SEOs, namely: Article marketing blog comments forum comments/profiles bookmarking PR directories Link acquisition by contacting relevants sites and negotiating a fee for a link I know that custom link acquisition is the most effective, but it gets very expensive. And, you don't know what each link is going to cost you. Here are my questions: Of the other methods (other thank custom link acquisition), how would you rank their effectiveness? The other methods seem kinda gimmicky, is it worth the time/money? Have you seen sites rank well for competitve keywords using articles/bookmarking/blog comments/directories etc? How do you know i a company is going to them manually as they claim? as opposed to using some automated software. Thanks

Ideas for promoting some articles that have been written about me
Hi i would like some ideas on how i promote some websites that do not belong to me. The reason i would like to promote them is because they are newspaper sites that have written articles about me that have appeared in newspapers and now they have appeared on their website. One newspaper article that was done last week which is on their site is already on page two but others that were done some time ago, a few months ago are on page six and seven and i would like to try and get them on page one. Any ideas on how i can do this would be great as this would be great to gain as much exposure from these articles as possible

Quality Article written, but on many sites.. Duplicate issue?
As part of a re-design of our site including the integration of our previously separate blog, we are using some of our quality articles regarding our industry to get backlinks to our site. Fortunately in our niche industry it is possible to find many out-dated articles, broken links, and just low-quality article content. So my question is.. if we have one article that would potentially allow us to get not just backlinks, but that actual article copied in full onto the other site, are there concerns about duplicate content and the link being useless? --Should I be changing the article a bit every time? --Should I ask them to only copy the first few sentences and link back to us to read more? - Other options? Cheers all
