Is image SEO worth it for e-commerce?
-
I have been trying to find any case studies of people who have optimized images for SEO for their e-commerce website, but haven't been able to find any case study, indicating obtained results. I am wondering how much increase in Google Image search traffic others have been able to obtain when optimizing their e-commerce images for image SEO.
I need this information to justify development resources needed for for example an image sitemap, changes to file names and alt texts, title tags and possibly EXIF data. File size is already ok.
Hope someone has experience with this and can share some results. Also, would be great if Moz would do a Whiteboard Friday about this (hint!).

Everything You Need to Know About Telemarketing & Telemarketing Software
What Is Telemarketing?
Telemarketing can be described as the process of generating leads, gathering market intelligence, making conversions, and increasing sales through the phone or phone calls.
While telemarketing is a very useful tool for small and medium businesses, it can also be a valuable tool for large businesses in terms of saving time and money over personal sales.
In other words, telemarketing is also known as internal selling and is a common form of direct marketing. Telemarketing is generally considered a better option than personal or door-to-door sales. At the same time, you do not need to pay a huge amount to the seller, as well as bear his costs.
Just find the perfect telemarketing software to reach out to customers and increase the sales of your business, that's all.
There are many contenders when it comes to telemarketing solutions. Consequently, choosing the right phone sales solution to meet all your business needs is not easy.
What is Telemarketing Software?
Telemarketing software is a type of Contact Center tool that helps organizations reach out to customers, generate leads, make conversions, and drive sales through phone calls, text messages, chats, video calls, emails, and more.
In simple terms, it is software that helps organizations achieve their goals using the telephone system, both in a direct and repetitive manner.
Features of Telemarketing System
- Inbound and outbound telemarketing to attract leads and connect with customers.
- Call log history to organize data to appropriately maintain your prospect's data.
- Works all over the world, i.e. you can use the software remotely from any device and from anywhere.
- Desktop apps, mobile apps, web apps, and cloud services are available to run smoothly.
- CRM assists with automated lead scheduling, customer information, call scheduling, email marketing, and more.
Advantages of Telemarketing Solutions
- It is easy to find customers with a software telemarketing system as it provides an effective means of communication between you and your potential customer. In addition, it allows you to clear all product and service-related inquiries from your customers and effectively helps you in attracting leads.
- This allows you to reach as many customers as possible, since you just need the customer's phone number, not their address, in order to meet them physically. Reaching out to customers by phone or email is far more cost-effective than direct or personal sales.
- One of the main benefits of telemarketing software is that it helps you manage your contact list, automate workflows, and send emails to your customers directly when needed. The toolbar will do everything for you according to the permission you have granted.
- The software also provides you with reports and analytics to determine where you are generating high volumes and where you are falling behind. This will help you understand buying behavior, interests, and buying patterns.

Do you have any competitive insights available? Do your competitor's product images show up in Google Images? Do Product Images show up in the SERPS?
-
Hi there,
It depends on how much competition do you have in your vertical. I have a client that gets a lot of traffic via images, but his niche is very small and his competitors do not have a good quality image, so he gets a lot of traffic. In that case, it works great for him. If you have a lot of competitors in your niche it might not be a good idea.

How to Build SEO Focused Pages?
Your help please as with so much kicking around about what is best practice us poor novices havent got a chance to keep up! My site www.over50choices.co.uk focuses on personal finance for the over 50s and one of the product sets is Funerals: I have c40 pages on the subject and 25 pages with the word "funeral" (eg funeral plans, how to arrange a funeral, funeral directors, funeral planning etc) in the URL, Title & H1 Tag - individually each page explains specific elements of the "process" and solutions to them eg purchasing a "prepaid funeral plan" all of which were optimised for specific Keywords (because thats what i was advised was best practice 6 months ago). Am I correct in thinking that in the new world ie post Hummingbird et al, that a better strategy is to use the "product home page" as the core landing page, with sufficient content to summarise what's on offer, covering all of the individual subjects from each pages in an umbrella/topic kind of way? And to still retain the linked pages from the core landing page, as they will contain the detailed information? Many thanks Ash

Should ebook content be a download or hosted on site for SEO?
We have written ebook(s) on subjects of interest to our prospects (B-C market). We have taken many recurring questions asked over the years plus helpful graphics and put into short 12+ page ebooks. After filling out form to receive ebook- (first name & email on form) for any option below- Should we: a) send them to Landing page to download ebook to their desktop? b) send them e-mail with link to download ebook? c) send them directly to page on our site with the ebook content? d) something else? My thoughts are to do c) which will put content on site, though 'protected' via gate. This way the search engines can crawl the content. However, if that content is not directly reachable through menu will that degrade the importance of that content? Obviously we want to provide good, helpful information to prospects. We would also love to benefit from that content from a Search point of view if possible. Anyone have experience with this through A/B test or otherwise? Thanks, Steve

Will the link back to my site be worth building them one for free?
To clarify, I am in the running to be awarded a project by a college in my area. They want to pay NOTHING for me to have my designers and developers build a site for them. If I don't want it several other companies will do it (or so they say). This site will be used to promote an event that is held annually in different major cities around the world. (online registration, pay online, etc) The weird part to me is the governing body of this event has the hosting city build their own website and promote the event on their own so every year they reinvent the wheel with a whole new website (not smart I know). **Is this worth it for me? ** The attendees will be almost exclusively from colleges and all have edu. websites and emails they will be using to register. There will be about 1,000 attendees I do get a link giving my company credit for building the site at the bottom of every page BUT..... I realize any love my site gets from the search engines will be next to nothing, right? (its a BRAND new domain and by the time it start getting any recognition the event will be over and it will be abandoned plus it will be watered down bcs they can tell its a site I built). Is it possible that when one of the attendees tweets or links to the page my site could get a little love? If I impress my contact that is sending me this 'business' I know it will turn into more paying work.............. **Thoughts? Opinion? Is there a silver lining i'm missing? Is this a dumb move? ** Thank you for your time and any response! Matthew

E-Book Versus Whitepaper - Which Term to Use?
So I have read several articles about the use of terms e-books versus whitepapers. Both pros and cons to use for each. Do you have any experience on which has worked better for you - converted more traffic, gotten more interest, etc? Would love to hear your experience on these terms. Thanks.

Temporary landing pages and SEO
Hi guys! I have a question that has been running through my mind for quite a while now. On our company, we offer different products that we put on specific landing pages (one per product). This products are "live" on a 20 day period. Right now, when the product expires, we put a label "This product expired" and return a 404. Is this the right way to do it? Take into account that keeping the page "alive" is not an option. The options would be: 301 redirecting to another listing (should I worry about this implementation being wrong? Wouldn't Google find it suspicous that lots of pages redirect to the same listing?) Return a 200 instead Thanks for your time!

Connecting SEO with Your Clients Objectives
Hi Guys, This question is specifically towards trying to make the connection between achieving clients objectives based on your SEO initiatives. Google Universal SERP's tends to make me try to think towards devising more of an online strategy rather than a specific SEO strategy. Whilst obviously social, video, content marketing and all that is increasingly important channels. I think it makes our actions based on trends rather than what matters most for the site to be visible - gain traffic & links (but not limited to this). Questions: 1. What framework or thought process do you use when devising a tailored SEO strategy for your clients? 2. How do you translate all onsite SEO initiatives off-site? I know there is no one fits all answer, however I would truly like to seek the SEO experts out here. Please use your example (not mine) as I think it will best help you answer this question. Note: No reference to the digital marketing framework by Avinash, I am already familiar with this. I have also not made this as a discussion, as I would truly like to get feedback from successful SEO's. Thank you for your answers in advance, Vahe

Is there a better map buidling platform than Google Maps for SEO purposes?
I'm about to publish a blog post and white paper on the Sierra Wine Country (over 100 wineries in the mountains between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe) to my website http://thingsyoushoulddo.com. I'd like to provide an embeddable map. Last week in the whiteboard Friday, Rand talked about how a vimeo embed could link directly back to your website vs. a youtube embed that leads back to youtube. Is there anything similar in the map creation world?

Local SEO- Multiple businesses at one address
Rand was talking about the importance of address format being exactly the same across all citations in last week's WBF http://www.seomoz.org/blog/local-seo-checklist-for-new-sites-whiteboard-friday. But what about business name? I have two unrelated businesses at the same address and am in the process of updating/adding citations for each. Will duplicate citations (identical addy, different business name) harm my Places ranking? Any suggestions? David
