How long till pages drop out of the index
-
In your experience how long does it normally take for 301-redirected pages to drop out of Google's index?
-
I think the PA (of the 'old' 301'd page) in this case will be more important than the DA. High PA on the 301'd page would 'likely' (and I say that with much trepidation) result in a quicker de-indexing.

Hi Andy - I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my question. I'm currently monitoring the transition process (losing the extended sitelinks on the original domain
but fingers-crossed they will return on the new domain)
-
Thanks Alex for sharing your experience. The DA on this site is about 40 so maybe it will be somewhere between the two you mention. I'll keep monitoring.

Hi Blaine
My experience has been for 'relevant' landing pages, that is pages Google deems worthy of a decent rank, the 301'd page is usually gone from the index within 2 or 3 days. However, as Alex pointed out, if the page is thin, weak, or not considered all that relevant from Google's perspective, I've been seeing anywhere from 10 to 21+ days for the 301'd page to be removed from the index. I hope this helps

It depends how often the website is crawled and how deep the pages are within the site. A site I work on with a Domain Authority of about 60 took less than two days. Another one with a DA of 20ish was changed almost two weeks ago and still hasn't updated.

Is it ok to repeat a (focus) keyword used on a previous page, on a new page?
I am cataloguing the pages on our website in terms of which focus keyword has been used with the page. I've noticed that some pages repeated the same keyword / term. I've heard that it's not really good practice, as it's like telling google conflicting information, as the pages with the same keywords will be competing against each other. Is this correct information? If so, is the alternative to use various long-winded keywords instead? If not, meaning it's ok to repeat the keyword on different pages, is there a maximum recommended number of times that we want to repeat the word? Still new-ish to SEO, so any help is much appreciated! V.

Why does Google display the home page rather than a page which is better optimised to answer the query?
I have a page which (I believe) is well optimised for a specific keyword (URL, title tag, meta description, H1, etc). yet Google chooses to display the home page instead of the page more suited to the search query. Why is Google doing this and what can I do to stop it?

Webmaster Tools Not Indexing New Pages
Hi there Mozzers, Running into a small issue. After a homepage redesign (from a list of blog posts to a product page), it seems that blog posts are buried on the http://OrangeOctop.us/ site. The latest write-up on "how to beat real madrid in FIFA 15", http://orangeoctop.us/against-real-madrid-fifa-15/ , has yet to be indexed. It would normally take about a day naturally for pages to be indexed or instantly with a manual submission. I have gone into webmaster tools and manually submitted the page for crawls multiple times on multiple devices. Still not showing up in the search results. Can anybody advise?

How long does internationlisation take to be indexed correctly
Hi guys I have had a UK site that has been indexed in Google for some time. Recently we started targeting Ireland and so I created a folder to do this (domain.com/ireland/) As well as adding an /irland/ folder I created a hreflang sitemap and in Webmaster Tools I specified that .com/ireland/ targets Ireland and .com targets UK. However this was all two weeks ago and Im still not seeing the Irish pages start ranking in Google.ie and was hoping one of you guys would be able to help me out? How long should it take for these pages to start appearing in the relevant country specific search engine? Deepcrawl states that the Hreflang is correct as well so Im just a bit worried that Ive missed something glaringly obvious! Thanks

What causes internal pages to have a page rank of 0 if the home page is PR 5?
The home page PageRank is 5 but every single internal page is PR 0. Things I know I need to address each page has 300 links (Menu problem). Each article has 2-3 duplicates caused from the CMS working on this now. Has anyone else had this problem before? What things should I look out for to fix this issue. All internal linking is follow there is no page rank sculpting happening on the pages.

How do I fix the error duplicate page content and duplicate page title?
On my site www.millsheating.co.uk I have the error message as per the question title. The conflict is coming from these two pages which are effectively the same page: www.millsheating.co.uk www.millsheating.co.uk/index I have added a htaccess file to the root folder as I thought (hoped) it would fix the problem but I doesn't appear to have done so. this is the content of the htaccess file: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^millsheating.co.uk RewriteRule (.*) http://www.millsheating.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /index\.html\ HTTP/ RewriteRule ^index\.html$ http://www.millsheating.co.uk/ [R=301,L] AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
