Is IP-Hosting an effective and worthy SEO solution?
-
I have seen few websites selling same package of IP-Hosting, I consider that kind of smart SEO solution if it really be effective, But I have doubt.
I have a few websites using a dedicated server for 6 years with only 1 valid IP and with that experience, I think rich content, title tags and anchor links are most important factors but I never tried such IP SEO, has any one tried IP hosting?
Then comes second questions,
If you have experienced and recommend IP Hosting, the reasonable application could be wordpress to manage all the sites in diffrent servers, and by using plugins such as autoblog or RSS importer we can update all the sites with minimum effort, But the problem is that neither of these 2 plugins are really working hassle free, They do not work at all or they stop wroking all the sudden, preferably I need a solution for Wordpress multisite Would you offer any alternative?
I appreciate if you share your ideas...
P.S.: My objective to apply IP hosting is not geo-targeting I use to launch .COMs normally without any particular geo-target.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions.

Same here, I won't recommend using one's own blogs for backlinks. I was part of a team which used the service and likes to host over 400 blogs in an attempt to manipulate their ranks. This worked with great success until recently. The team has experienced a big drop in rankings after a full year of success. The value of the links has vanished. This I believe might also be a part of the recent Panda update. A lot of people in SEO industry believe the Panda update is not only about penalizing copied content, but about removing content which has little value.
A blog with a link in every post, pointing to another website, on a relevant keyword, is a clear indication that it has been made with an intention to manipulate the SERP ranks. This is categorized by a crawler as nothing more than a link directory. Links from domains with high traffic and original content have proved to be a good value, no matter what the anchor text is.
The blogs and target website have a big chance of getting removed from top 100 SERP results. We have seen this happening to a lot of websites recently.

I took a look at the seowebhosting site. I understand the idea and can definitely see why some companies use their service. My primary concern is how Google will handle that hosting in the future.
The sole purpose of hosting in that manner (i.e. specifically paying for different C blocks) defines black hat SEO. The provider and it's clients are specifically taking action for the sole purpose of manipulating search engines. It is easy enough for Google to determine the IP ranges this company uses, or some other unique identifier, and then take action on anyone who uses this form of hosting.
Based on the testimonials, it sounds like the company is presently getting away with things, but it is definitely a cheat. I can't recommend using their services.

I believe you do not need to host the blogs with different companies to have them on different C Class IPs. Please visit http://www.seowebhosting.net/ to read about the service and likes.
There are 100s of hosting services out there providing SEO hosting and easy ways to manage all the blogs/sites in a single WHM and cPanel interface.

A lot of people have shared concerns over Google checking the ownership information. Actually, the SERP quality team in Google is considered one of smartest people in Google itself. They work hard to keep people from trying to manipulate the rankings any way possible. The algorithms check every aspect possible. associated with the site to see if people are trying to create links to their own sites. The practice is actually considered similar to buying links on other blogs.
Google has never, and will not officially share the factors they use to check link quality. This is necessary to keep people to misusing the information; people will start playing better once the rules are written loud and clear. All the information out there is based on experience.
One example is, a recent change in Google Webmaster Tools interface. A lot of people started getting suggestions from Google to add sites to their Webmasters account. Google started suggesting that it feels you are the owner of the sites on the basis of ownership information and other common factors within the sites. Was a surprise for people who were trying to hide.
I don't think Google has access to private registrations as this would clearly violate the TOS for the hosting service provider. Private registrations are there for a reason. But a domain/website not revealing ownership information loose a little in domain authority.

Dear Nitin,
You shared some serious issues which are truly reasonable most of the times, but with a planning we may be able to reduce the risks, I am just not very experienced about the complexity of same ownership for the domains, I never knew google checks the ownership, is it officially announced? then how about private registration services? dose google get access on the private data as well?
Thanks

SSL is a security certificate, a site with SSL may have or may not have dedicated IP
To the best of my understanding, that is not correct. I have always understood a dedicated IP is a requirement for receiving a SSL. I only have a few minutes right now so I Google'd "SSL dedicated IP" and the first two results affirm this position:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=735629
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1015244
I agree that a site which uses Paypal or other 3rd party gateways do not need to offer SSL, but many do so anyway. Some sites do it out of misunderstanding, some think the blue/green bars look cool or otherwise offer an image that is preferred, some also use other payment gateways such as Authorize.net so they can accept credit cards on their own site.
My point was actually that every SSL site has a dedicated IP, which meanis a good percentage of the internet has dedicated IPs. You can also have dedicated IP hosting without SSL. I have a site that was being blocked because it was hosted on the same server as a porn site. The issue probably could have been fixed in a couple ways but it was ?$2/month to have a dedicated IP so that was chosen as the fast and easy solution.
I agree with Nitin that in order for links to offer a greater SEO value, the C blocks must vary meaning you need to host with different companies. Even then, as Nitin points out, there are other factors involved which a search engine can use to evaluate whether two linking sites are related.

If you wish to give SEO Hosting a try, I would recommend to choose http://www.seowebhosting.net/
Most websites use Wordpress blogs with SEO hosting, with XML RPC enabled. Will help you make the posts easily using a single software/service.

Dear Rayan,
I appreciate your participation,
I just think IP hosting is not as mixed as you mentioned with SSL, SSL is a security certificate, a site with SSL may have or may not have dedicated IP. Usually e-commerce application using SSL to improve the security level on the transactions, In most common condition for small e-commerce sites while they use 3rd party services such as paypal or Google Check out to handle the financial transaction they usually do not need to install SSL.
IP-hosting commonly addressed to having a unique IP for each and every single web-site/ Hosted Domain, it is believed in this way links back from one site to another are gaining more SEO value than the links exchanged among the sites with same IP.
Well my major question here is about the level of effectiveness of IP-hosting speciall with all the extra time and money it takes to run tis method,
And;
If this method is worth to try what kind of CMS/ Tool or plugin are considered and tried as best applications for managing large number of sites through different servers.
Cheers

If you are asking about hosting blogs on different C-Class IPs to help promote the main website; there are a lot of other complications involved. This method works to some extent, right now, but the domains should not be linked to each other; no common factors should appear. Like, domains must not be registered in the same name, the themes should be different, no common header, footer, widgets, no common ad-code etc.
Also, applications like Autoblog are of no use. All websites hosted on the IPs must have original content, and a good amount of backlinks to get the pages with backlinks indexed in the search engine. Also, the blogs shouldn't link back to a common set of websites. No use having 100s of pages on a single blog/site, every page linking back to your website; clearly shows you own the blog.
I am not sure if this answers your question. Just something I thought you are asking about.

It is my understanding "IP Hosting" is very commonly used by many sites. Any site with an SSL certificate whether it is so they can accept credit cards directly or use secure pages would use IP hosting. It is likely 100% of shared hosts offer IP hosting.
I haven't researched the label "IP hosting" but that is my understanding. If I misunderstood feel free to correct me. The way you are explaining it seems to be using it in a manner I have never heard of. Do you have a link to share of where you gained your understanding?

Multiregional SEO - different website designs
Hello, when it comes to location & language targeting, is it possible to have different website page designs for their respective regions? So let's say we have one design for www.example.com/product-1 and a completely different design for www.example.com/us/product-1? Our branding is different for the US so would ideally like to use specific US designs for US pages. Thanks,

SEO implications of network outage
Hi, Our bandwidth provider has informed us of a forthcoming network outage this weekend, the net result being that around 20 websites will be unreachable for a total of about 1 hour inside a predetermined 3 hour window. In an ideal world we would like to provide a holding page or be able to respond with a "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable" HTTP code, however the complete absence of connectivity means we'll be unable to do this.Does anyone have any ideas about the SEO implications of this kind of downtime? It would be useful to know if there are any actions we can take prior to the outage that could mitigate the impact. We've considered repointing the DNS to other servers, but it's only something we'll do if the negative impact of not doing it is too great. Thanks in advance!

AJAX and SEO
Hello team, Need to bounce a question off the group. We have a site that uses the .NET AJAX tool kit to toggle tabs on a page. Each tab has content and the content is drawn on page load. In other words, the content is not from an AJAX call, it is there from the start. The content sits in DIV tags which the javascript toggles - that's all. My customer hired an "SEO Expert" who is telling them that this content is invisible to search engines. I strongly disagree and we're trying to come to a conclusion. I understand that content rendered async via an AJAX call would not be spidered, however just using the AJAX (Javascript) to switch tabs will not affect the spiders finding the content in the markup. Any thoughts?

Switching host
Hi guys, some questions about host switching. Actually my blog is hosted on siteground growbig Plan. I was thinking about upgrading to gogeek Plan (their PRO shared hosting). Do you think that better technologies and server speed response can improve My ranking? Another question: if I switch server they will change ip. Does it affect My SEO negatively? And after the switch and ip changing Is too much if I re-change ip buying a dedicated ip? Will I risk to hurt My Raking? Sorry For my foreign english 🙂 Thanks so much!

Types of SEO Help
I have a web site that is going well but I think it could be better as far as usability and design. Also, I am sure an SEO professional would have some things to do to optimize. It seems though, that all the SEO companies either want to have along term contract or they don't work with my technology. Does anyone know of a company that would take my Visual Studio/C# project and tweak it for usability, design and SEO features for an hourly or set price?
