How to know whether linking to a site is valuable or not
-
Hi Guys,
I've been checking for some people to write articles for my site. They are writing articles on their own sites. But before that, how can i know whether that site is valuable or whether it can pass link juice for my site. Please can someone explain about on how to know whether a site is important or not. Whether it will be helpful for my site in ranking ??
Waiting for your replies.

Thanks for the reply. I don't intended to promote them, thats why i didn't even posted urls until someone asked me. But i really wanted to know what are the factors to be considered in link building. As in earlier posts The Back burner told me that there will be many factors other that backlinks, DA and PA are there. I would like to know in detail about them.

Looks to me like that's a download site where not everything is particularly 100% legit to download. We strongly frown on providing advice to sites that are promoting illegal activities.

What is the URL of your site and your competitor's site? There are many factors that play a role in rankings so you will have to dig deeper than just the number of backlinks you have and the DA and PA.
Post your URLs and the community will be able to give you some more specific advice.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I have already seomoz toolbar in my browser. But i am bit confused. As i check my competitors urls, their Page authorities and Domain authorities. There are very less variations in PA and DA when compared my competitors with my site.
Here is an Ex:
My competitors Data:
PA 71
No of BackLinks: 66528DA 65
No of Backlinks 2881992
My site Data:
PA 66
No of Backlinks: 61909DA 61
No of Backlinks: 2851089
As i see there is not much difference PA, DA and backlinks when compared to my site.
But my competitor is ranking pretty much good than. I dont understand what more i need to concentrate on.
Awaiting for your reply..

Hi Dheeraj
My first recommendation would be to download the SEOmoz toolbar. This will tell you the number of links to the page and the number of root domains. It'll also give you the Page Authority and Domain Authority. You might also want to run Open Site Explorer to see who's linking to them (making sure there's no 'bad neighborhoods').
See here for information on the toolbar: http://www.seomoz.org/seo-toolbar
Also - a general look over the site should tell you whether they're sites are good quality or just contain 'thin' content for SEO.

How do I find links that link to several competitor sites?
I want to find linking pages that link to several of my competitors. Those are likely to be lists of tools I can also add my website to. My application is a dashboard tool/kanban board. So if I find a page linking both to say kanbannery.com and kanbanflow.com it will be likely to be a collection of links to kanban tools, ad my application can be relatively easy added. Magestic SEO has a "clique hunter" - is there anything similar in MOZ suite of tools?

Does the number of people who click on a link to your site from another domain influence your domain authority?
Say you have a link to your site on the BBC, is it the fact that you're being linked to from a domain of very high authority that boost your own domain authority or is it dependent on how many people actually click on your link from that site? Any insights much appreciated!

What is the difference between external followed links and internal followed links.
I have almost 3,000 external links followed and only a tiny amount of internal followed links. My website is doing really badly on google at the mo. I am also an SEO beginner and learning new stuff every day, but am not sure exactly what the difference is! Thanks!

Penguin Recover: Remove links vs Burry Links
The best is to do both. However with those with limited resources, would building more links with branded and naked URL anchor links be a better solution than painstakingly asking every webmaster to remove links.

Following Penguin, what is the best practice for a web design agency placing a footer link in client sites?
For years we have included a 'Web Design by ...' link in the footer of all client websites designed by us. However, following the Penguin update, it seems that this legitimate practice could now be penalised. Should we be removing those links from our client's sites? There are tens of thousands, all with similar or identical text! For future client sites, should we avoid these footer links altogether? Or maybe limit the link to a single page on each site?

Link Building for relaunched & newly designed site
Hey all, Next week we are relaunching our brand spankin' new site. It's a major overhaul of our existing site from both a brand, design, and identity point of view. As part of the relaunch we will be reaching out to journalists in our niche with PR, and also doing a series of guest posts. But I'm wondering about other link building opportunities around newly redesigned websites. I have a list of about 2 dozen design + CSS galleries to submit to. Can you recommend other sources? I'm especially interested in sites that review web design, etc... Thanks. C.

Site-wide/Blogroll Anchor Text Linking
I have some blogs that I own with 10,000+ indexed pages of content. I have wondered for sometime if adding anchor text links for my clients on relevant blogs would be helpful or harmful. I realize that having an anchor text link on ONE article page in context is better than 10,000 anchor text links on my blog roll or footer, but I have been reluctant to use this strategy due to the bad press site wide and blogroll links have gotten, What has been YOUR experience with this method?

Local service site link building
I have a local service site http://winecountrycarpet.com/ and I have been link building as much as possible for my landing pages (which aren't local to my city, but are within 20 miles). I would like to keep my link building as above board and white hat as possible (so i do a lot of forum sigs and links in do follow forum in my industry) I do not seem to be seeing any results though. My pages are on the first page for their targeted keywords, but I think this has more to do with onsite SEO and non competitive keywords. I am wondering if anyone can recommend any strategies that I might find more effective. I have thought about leaving blog comments on do follow blog's but it just seems so spammy its hard to imagine it working. I am open to any ideas.
