Thanks!Hello!
It's a great question you've raised. Backlinks are a crucial aspect of SEO, and understanding how they work can be a bit complex. Let's break down why your client's digital ads may not count towards your external link count:
Nature of Digital Ads: Digital advertisements, such as those in Google Ads or social media ads, often utilize tracking links and redirects. These links are designed primarily for measuring ad performance and click-through rates, not for passing SEO value.
NoFollow Links: Many digital advertising platforms and social media sites utilize "nofollow" links by default. A "nofollow" link instructs search engines not to follow the link and, consequently, not to consider it for SEO ranking purposes. This is done to prevent paid advertisements from influencing search rankings artificially.
Dynamic URLs: Digital ads often use dynamically generated URLs that include various tracking parameters, making them less likely to be recognized as backlinks by SEO tools. Search engines may also have difficulty identifying these links as canonical URLs.
Shortened Links: Some digital ads use URL shorteners (e.g., bit.ly) to create concise and trackable links. These shortened links can obscure the original URL, making it challenging for SEO tools to associate them with your website.

How can I tell what pages have links TO this page?
Hello, Mozzers! My client has a rather messy situation, with redirects for HTTP vs. HTTPS, and two different home pages, both in subdirectories. I could explain the whole setup, but I don't think it's relevant for my question, which is this: OSE is showing three links to the page in question, but doesn't tell me WHAT those links are. Am I just missing the information somewhere? Please see screenshot for details. Thanks so much! ~ Scott view?usp=sharing

Feedburner Links Showing Up In OSE
I, for years now, have been seeing lots of links from http://feeds.feedburner.com/ showing up very high in backlink profiles. Why is this? And if these links are not passing link juice why are they being reported on in OSE? Seems like there should be some sort of filter for these, or that OSE bot should follow robots.txt directives as googlebot does.

How Is a Page Crawled by Moz When Moz Says 'No Links'?
As above, really. I've crawled a new client's site to find the Moz crawler has identified a handful of 404 errors. The Moz crawler says these pages have '0 linking domains', and OSE has no data for these pages. So how are these pages being crawled by Moz and what should I advise my client?
