If your domain authority (DA) dropped after building a lot of backlinks, it could be due to a few reasons. Maybe some of the new backlinks are from low-quality or spammy sites, which can hurt your DA. Also, search engines and tools like Moz might update their algorithms or recalibrate their metrics, affecting your DA. Make sure your backlinks come from reputable sources and check if there are any recent changes in how DA is calculated. If things still seem off, reaching out to SEO experts or the tool’s support might help clear things up.

This happens for lots of reasons:
-
Loss of Quality Backlinks
-
Linking from Low-Quality or Spammy Sites:
-
Content Issues
-
Technical SEO Issues
-
Algorithm Updates
-
On-Page SEO Problems, etc.

Hi, so compare your backlinks you have now, with before the drop, did any get deleted? if so, try to rebuild. we run a web design company, and if we get a good link, you can see the website move up in a few days, then once it gets deleted we can drop down Google's ranks- hope this helps.

Your Domain Authority (DA) may have dropped due to factors like decreased backlink quality, loss of high-quality links, increased competition, or changes in search engine algorithms. Regularly monitor your backlinks, update content, and follow SEO best practices to maintain or improve your DA.
-
Google algorithm update: DA scores are occasionally impacted by changes to Google's algorithm. It's probable that the upgrade has an impact on backlink value estimation.
Backlinks of poor quality: Not all backlinks are made equal. If newly acquired backlinks originate from spammy or low-authority domains, Google might have given them less weight.
Focus on high-quality backlinks and continue producing insightful content for your website. Your DA ought to fully recover soon.
-
@MizbaCMU There are a couple of reasons why this might have happened:
-
Low-quality backlinks: Not all backlinks are created equal. Google may have discounted recently acquired backlinks if they come from low-authority or spammy websites.
-
Google algorithm update: Google's algorithm updates can sometimes impact DA scores. It's possible the update affected how backlinks are valued.
Focus on building high-quality backlinks and keep creating valuable content for your site. Your DA should recover in time.

Hey there,
I can totally relate to your situation. It's frustrating when you've put effort into building backlinks and then see a drop in domain authority (DA) seemingly out of nowhere. There could be several reasons behind this sudden decline. Sometimes, search engine algorithms update, which might affect how backlinks are evaluated. It could also be due to changes in competitor strategies or even technical issues on your website affecting crawlability or indexability.
I've been experiencing something similar with my website recently, so I understand the concern. One thing that might help is to analyze your backlink profile more closely using tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs. Look for any sudden loss of quality links or spikes in toxic backlinks, as these could impact DA negatively.
Hang in there, and hopefully, we can figure this out together!
I understand your concern. It can be frustrating when domain authority (DA) drops unexpectedly despite efforts in building backlinks. I've experienced a similar issue with my website. Sometimes, fluctuations in DA can be influenced by various factors such as algorithm updates, changes in competitor activity, or even technical issues on the site itself.
To diagnose the issue, it might be helpful to audit your backlink profile to ensure they are from high-quality sources and relevant to your content. Additionally, reviewing recent changes in SEO practices or updates in search engine algorithms could provide insights into what might have caused the drop.
Hang in there! Understanding these fluctuations can be complex, but with careful analysis and adjustments, you can work towards improving your DA over time.

A drop in Domain Authority (DA) can be caused by several factors:
Algorithm Updates: Moz, the creator of Domain Authority, periodically updates its algorithm, which can lead to fluctuations in DA.
Loss of Backlinks: If your website loses high-quality backlinks, it can negatively impact your DA.
Quality of New Links: If your recent backlinks are of lower quality compared to your previous ones, it can reduce your DA.
Increased Competition: If competitors gain higher-quality backlinks, it can relatively lower your site's DA.
On-Page SEO Issues: Technical issues on your site, such as broken links, slow page speed, or poor mobile optimization, can affect your DA.
Content Quality: Outdated or low-quality content can lead to lower engagement and backlink acquisition, impacting DA.
Spam Score Increase: An increase in your website’s spam score can negatively affect your DA.
Regularly monitoring these factors and implementing SEO best practices can help maintain or improve your Domain Authority.

Do links from International SEO counterpart site carry weight?
Hi everyone! One of our clients has a competitor who has an international reach with their website. Their hreflang goes from Brazil, German, US, China, etc. We found that the Chinese site (.cn) sends over 900,000+ backlinks to the main US site (.com). The hreflang for the site has the .com US version of the site as the canonical. So my question is - does our competitor get any link equity from the 900,000 links they are getting from their Chinese (.cn) version of the site? My initial thought is that because they are marked up with hreflang and canonical tags, those 900,000+ links wouldn't' have any equity? Would love some thoughts/guidance on what others think.

Using brand domain for easy verbally said with 301 redirect to exact match.net for a site
I have recently bought an exact match.net for a keyword with no hyphens (on the fence about hyphens, read so many different views on here). From looking around it seems that not all solicited links that I am interested in use anchor text, but more significantly exact match domain would be like automatic anchor text when anyone from the general population posts a link to your site. I sell print books and am thinking of keeping the non-keyword domain in them so they are easy to say and type, while using the exact match domain for everything else online which the non-keyword domain would 301 redirect to. I don't do any programming and will use cPanel on my webhost to do the 301 redirect, I already have one 301 to go to the www subdomain so that would make two 301's. This might sound quite straight forward to many here but it's fairly new to me and I've not seen cPanel mentioned here yet, so was wondering if I am going about it the right way.

Page Rank, Domain Rank, Link Building....Oh my!
Hi Everyone, So I am looking into a couple of sites that we can use for press release distribution. Naturally, I am looking for sites that will improve our SEO (sites that have a high domain authority). I guess I am just trying to wrap my head around the whole domain/page authority and how it effects our SEO. So for example, I am looking at prlog.org. They have an overall domain authority of 91...sweet! Is this all I should be looking at when I am looking to place a press release, which will include targeted links using appropriate anchor text? If I drill down even further to the actual section that the press release will live on, which will be the security section of the site, the page authority is a 49. Is this what I should be looking at? Do I have to drill down even further and look at the page rank for the actual URL that my press release will actually live on? I am assuming since it will be a totally new page that the page authority will be very low. Is this correct? Should I be looking at a combination of the two? The page authority of 49 is pretty low but the domain authority is very high. What does this mean for my SEO and my links? In a nutshell I need to know what I should be looking at for SEO purposes, is it domain authority, is it page authority of the section the site will live on or is it the actual page that my press release lives on. Is it a combination? What would you do in this situation? Also, could you give me a little more insight into when a low domain/page authority can actually hurt you. What the threshold where you get no link juice or are actually penalized? Do you have any insight in the domain/page domain number that is considered not worth it? Thanks all! Pat
