PA v PR
-
Hi All,
I operate a weather website, and our link building strategy has been to offer weather services to domains with high ranking homepages in return for links from those homepages.
The researching of 'high ranking pages' is obviously a big part of the link building process, and up until now we have been using Google's PageRank (PR), in the form of a Chrome extension to determine a pages authority. Now that there is an SEOMoz Chrome extension with Page Authority (PA)...and mozRank/mozTrust, should we switch to PA instead of PR when determining which pages to link from?
Thanks.

Meh. PR / PA / DA... these are just simplified metrics. If you are really interesting in finding out the potential of the site ask for their traffic (if you can) and see how many unique domain inbound links they have and you'be on the money.
This weather service you provide - is this too valuable to give away to all sites big and small?

In Australia (this is an Australian website), Alexa is rubbish for measuring traffic. Google Ad Planner seems to be much more accurate (I wasn't aware that traffic made any difference for link building anyway).
Also, isn't it more about the authority of the page that the links come from? not the authority of the domain?... for instance, I wouldn't bother linking from someone's facebook page, even though facebook.com's authority is about as good as you can get.

I think that you should look at the following factors while deciding website authority:
1. Nature of backlinks to the website
2. Mozrank
3. Compete Rank
4. Alexa traffic rank
5. Website index in Google
6. Page Rank.

Hello everyone, I've been busting my head now for a bit and for the life of me I can't understand how this website is ranked #1 or #2 for a moderately competitive keyword (45% According to the Keyword Difficulty Report). Anyone has any idea how is this possible or how are they doing it? Please note page and domain authority as well... Included: reports from SEOmoz and ahrefs Thank you in advance! With the purpose of protecting mi client's identity, I've hidden keywords and domains. Keyword Difficulty Report ahrefs_comp.png SEOmoz_comp.PNG

Static Html Pages V/s Wordpress - For open content pages?
Hi there. I am worried a bit about static html pages or wordpress as an instance to write down open page content for our website. We are a product based website - primarily Saas based product. But with time we have seen that if we write more content people will be able to find us better,. Earlier our blog resided on blog.example.com now we are moving it to example.com/blog/ Issues - I really want to know that I need to generate lots of fresh content so I am using wordpress as the blog medium and content generation medium too. Basically the wordpress instance will be a content generated pages. I can also have static html page based content but then our content writers will always have to take the help of develoeprs to publish it to our sites. Whats the best way to go about this keeping SEO really crucial in mind? Thanks for your time and help!

Why does website rank? PA-39 DA-24
This website is pretty nice, well done. The few links they do have are nice and clean, from his brothers website, very much white hat. However, it appears that they aren't doing much of anything from an SEO standpoint. This site, is PA31 DA21 is also doing unusually well. In both cases, these guy are outranking the best know, most famous, and most trusted company in the industry who is PA84 DA81. This is a HUGE company that wins the most awards and gets tons of media coverage both in print and on televisiton shows. I'm also noticing that the websites that are ranking well in my niche (every keyword) all have the name of their company at the beginning of the title tag, those with the name of the company at the end of the title tag are consistantly a few ranks lower. This seems to be consistant across all search terms. My niche is highly competitive for a very low amount of traffic. Adwords is crazy expensive for some of these keywords! That said, one valid sale generates a significant amount of money. Would love to hear your thoughts. I'm thinking the first company is being treated so well becase G considers them to be virgins, the purist of white?
