Where do you find quality content writers?
-
Sure we all know about oDesk or textbroker but is there a place people can go to hire higher quality writers?
-
I have also had some great success via the University avenue. Not only for writters......... Great points!
-
Yep, there are some very good writers on elance, be sure to check their profiles and work samples.

Hey Joe,
We syndicate content at our company and have faced this same question.
A very succesful method for us has been to arrange unpaid internships with local colleges. They often will have job boards online at the various universtities where you can post your listing by department, e.g., English/Journalism, etc.
Depending on your pay scale, you may also want to scan already-employed journalists in local papers. Indianapolis for instance (where we are located) has a free entertainment paper named NUVO tha tis distributed once monthle all across the metro area. Very popular paper and the writers for these types of places generally make very low income and are willing to make a transition. We have also had a lot of success with this approach. (The plus is that these folks are known quantities in terms of their talent and their commitment to writing!)
Lastly, do a search for blog communities in your city. There are often large communities of bloggers that are writing purely for the sake of writing. They are often very good, too!
Best of luck,
W

Elance can be good, but it's often hit and miss. You may have to go through a few poor ones to find a gem.

Excellent points!

It's quite time consuming to find good quality writers, also a bit more expensive.
If you can be bothered to weed through tonnes of useless writers you'll be able to exploit people starting out on Digital Point
Along the lines of the oDesk of this world I'd suggest - http://www.studentgems.com/ - pretty good for pretty cheap.
If you're looking for proper quality writers you could start scanning Linked In for journalists of industry magazines and such like.
But the real quality writers I've either poached (found articles in the same niche I've liked and approached them) or made through contacts in the industry. Never a substitute for networking

Yes - craigslist.org. I would hire someone local who you can look in the face and are willing to pay a decent salary to generate quality content. It might be more expensive but it will be worth it in the long run - just ask anyone hit by Panda.

How much should I pay for one hour of content creation work?
Hi I have recently been looking for some new content creators to work with. And I recently asked a blogger that I know of how much he would charge for some content creations. I told him that I'm looking for some good compelling content that is about 400 to 500 words. And he told me that he would charge $180 an hour. I sorta feel like that's a bit to much, but I don't want to jump to conclusions without any advice from you all. I'm very well versed in my SEO and do most of the work for my site. But I think a fresh touch would really be helpful.

What's a good way to find recent blog posts about a given topic?
Let's say I want to find blog posts posted in the past week or so about "key west". These posts could be on a personal blog, travel blog, etc. Google News is mostly news sites (not blogs) and Google blog search doesn't work any more. What other good options are there? So far Open site Explorer Just Discovered is the best option I've found, but there is a lot of other stuff mixed in with a few blog posts.

Someone wants to syndicate my content but I'm afraid
I GOT THE FOLLOWING EMAIL: Hi, I visited your site and would like to connect regarding nSphere syndicating your content into our search platform. We are interested in syndicating your content into our network. There’s no cost for this, we ask you to place a module on your site that reads your content and syndicates it into our network of millions of users. You only need to place a simple JavaScript code on your site. I have the code, but I would like to speak or email with you first. This module acts as search tool for your users as well. Can you email me or send me your number and a good day/time to connect? Thank you in advance.

Does content have a shelf life for link building efforts?
Do you think that content (that doesn't have a date attached) has a shelf life? Especially content that is effectively timeless such as a quiz? I've noticed in my link building efforts that most links are achieved within the first couple of weeks, and that there seems to be a point of diminishing returns. Why do you think that may be?
