Reconsideration Request denied for 3rd time!!! - Could Use Some Fresh Eyes Please?
-
I have read the FAQs and checked for similar issues: YES
My site's URL (web address) is:http://www.recoveryconnection.org/
Description (including timeline of any changes made):n mid-June, we were penalized. We received a message in WMT that our site was penalized for Doorway Pages, thin content, and pages trying to rank for just 1 KW.1. We removed all doorway-style pages (according to guidelines) and consolidated content to target no less than 3 KWs per page, and not over-optimized.
2. Submitted first reconsideration request.
3. Denied 8 days later via MSG in WMT that stated simply that the site still did not meet Google's Guidelines.
4. Printed fresh copies of Google's guidelines, and rewrote almost every page of the site. We took down the blog in case of old thin content or possible doorway pages. We reduced the overall size of the site from over 400 pages down to around 80.
5. Submitted 2nd reconsideration request.
6. Denied 10 days later via MSG in WMT that stated simply that the site STILL did NOT meet Google's Guidelines.
7. Restructured site and it's content.
8. Denied 3rd time.http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=43c09330ab7b25b5&hl=en
Note: We have checked our link profile over and over, and we have NO Paid links. We have moved our entire site to a new platform, with clean code, new URL structure, etc.
Does anyone have any feedback?
Thanks.

Thats what it looks like after 3 revisions? Makes me instantly repulsed, altho hard to say exactly why.
- How are you making money out of this? it doesnt state that and therefore looks extremely untrustworthy
- You are making statements like "nationally recognised" without backing them up with facts or referneces
- You are using cheepo stock photos
- your homepage has little worthwhile content
- it just feels like a scam homepage, built by to feed off other people who are in a bad situation

Should I buy an expired domain that has already been redirected to some other website? Can I use it or redirect it to my own site if I purchase it?
I was going to purchase an expired domain but then I came to know that it has been redirected to some other website. I have two questions: Can I build a website around this domain if I purchase it? and will the Domain Authority remains the same ? Can I redirect it to my own site? and will all the Link Juice flow to my site?

Using Google Reviews for non local business
Hi All, We are deciding on what site is best to capture reviews from customers and I'm just not sure what is the ideal option. We are a SaaS business with multiple offices in different locations but the specific geographies are not really relevant to our customers. Is it worth focusing on google reviews so that when our brand is searched there are plenty of nice shiny stars (plus maybe they can be added into adwords adverts as well...). Search volume for the keywords we don't yet rank for are not massive although still important. Alternatively should we be thinking about something like G2Crowd. None of our competitors are doing anything so there's no real need to our muscle them on a review website and I don't think our end user will visit these sites before buying but we would point to them and say 'hey, look at all these great reviews'. Finally I searched my old company recently who and just under news results were facebook reviews. Maybe that's another option. All advice welcome. All advice appreciated.

Anyone use a white label SEO company?
I work on my own and beginning to get more clients than I can handle effectively so this is my first look into outsourcing some of the work. Does anyone have a good resource for white label SEO? Do you have any experience with the following? Others? Sky Diamond Media

Has anyone had success disavowing old links or competitor spam links and should the disavow tool be used ONLY as a last resort?
One of our clients has some shady old links that we just recently discovered with a new link analysis tool. Not sure if they are harming the site or not but given the nature and verocity of the latest penguin updates we want to remove or negate their effects on the site asap. Thanks

Penguin 2.0 Update - Just Hit - Google Messes up again, can anyone on SEOMOZ please tell me why or how some of these websites are ranking?
I am getting a bit tired now writing all of this so please excuse grammar and spelling mistakes, I wanted to post this up quickly tonight so I could possibly get some feedback by morning. So I feel I figured out some of the new update that just hit and I am sure the update will continue to keep coming and rankings will most likely change for a while, but I do have a few questions in the mean time if they stay. Please look below, why would some of those sites be ranking? Some sites utilize no onpage SEO, some no backlinks, one of the sites is a single page site and every page is a broken link even the contact us page and it's rank 1..... I am not 100% sure that Google got this one right. I see many instances below where other sites are much higher quality and have more authority. It's as if Google took terrible sites and said here is a site for you, now deal with it and I hope it works out at the top. I do see several sites that belong on the first page, but I see others that are very questionable. This is how the following is written below. Before the url is the anchor text density % for the site. This indicates the percentage of the amount of times the anchor text was backlined versus other anchor texts they used. Issues with the sites. Most of these sites don't utilize onpage SEO and it's clearly not a factor for onpage density purposes, there is a site with 37% keyword density on it. Some sites even have broken links. Please note: I already know that there is a lot of data that is analyzed to determine rankings more than this, but PA/DA is suppose to be a major factor according to everyone that believes in SEOMOZ.org. So I am taking in account for many of those factors being calculated due to this. These are just some random keywords I picked, because I know you need to analyze other SEO firms after and update to figure out what lasted and what didn't. All of my sites lasted due to ethical tactics, but I had some rankings move down and others go up, very odd. The onpage SEO is sloppy and the writing looks forced. Why is this even ranking? The site also looks low quality. The density is higher than SEOMOZ even and it has less words. In this case DA + words carried this site up, not the anchor ratio being low. 6.17% http://www.cheapseo-services.com cheap seo Page Authority DA 28 -- PA 38 276 Words No onpage, 35 duplicate pages, free template, etc.. etc.. 10% www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-do-seo-cheap DA 94 --- PA 56 only 5 anchor texts used on this page. 8651 Words I am willing to bet if you diversified this with about 5 more anchor texts this could be number 1 easy. 3rd Party Site Presence and Internet Marketing
An issue that I do not see discussed about much in Internet Marketing circles is the importance of establishing and developing a presence on third party sites other than through guest posting and I was wondering how much other internet marketers focus on this area and recommend this to clients. I see many people wanting hiring internet marketers basically for SEO and the KPI's on which they are judged are SEO based outcomes (higher alexa rank, number of page 1 keywords, number of top 1, top 3 keywords etc). I recently gave advice to someone who had very little time, very little money and very little SEO skills who wanted to rank in number 1 positions for their band for wedding and corporate bookings. I basically showed them sites that were highly positioned in the SERPs where they could get develop a strong online profile and how this would work better than investing 3 hours a month badly into SEO. Ultimately what businesses want is strong convertible leads and sales. For many businesses that might be better established particularly where budgets are tight through other elements whether it is Tripadvisor rankings, presence in other 3rd party sites or in an Ebay store than through SEO for their own site. Obviously for big brands with big budgets SEO is essential but as many keyword terms become increasingly competitive how important should referrals from 3rd party sites be in businesses internet marketing strategy and to what extent do you feel current internet marketing businesses identify and promote this need rather than simply working on improving ranking performance for keywords?

Good time to start a niche site?
I am wondering, with all the recent changes in the algorithm, is this a good time to start a niche site? I know this can be fairly subjective, depending on the niche. But, anyone think this is a good opportunity?
