BOTW links not recognized by Open Site Explorer

Hi there, I was wondering if I buy a submission to the Best of the Web directory (waiting for the new directory list promised by the seomoz team
)but when I get to the category on BOTW website that will fit for my website, I took some links already there and put them on open site explorer to see their value, I had the surprise they are not even recognized...
So I am still wondering if it is worth or not...
voilĂ , if anybody knows if this directory still has value...

George, I looked at the page you shared and it appears as a solid page for a link. If it is not appearing in OSE, I would recommend contacting the help desk. There has been some issues with the Linkscape index, which is the source data OSE results are based upon.
The next Linkscape update is scheduled for Sep 20. The issue may resolve itself after the update. But based on the information you shared, it should appear currently so my recommendation is to contact the help desk so they can investigate the issue. If they can locate a bug or tweak, it may be possible to fix it without waiting another month to see your link.

the links are there for month, some for years, but when I put them into OSE, the BOTW links are not listed for none of them...

BOTW definitely has value and it's links are recognized by OSE. There are two things you should understand when using OSE:
1. The links in OSE are based on the Linkscape crawl of the web. The data is updated approximately once/month and it can be two full months before a link is visible in OSE.
2. Links are recognized based on the linking page value. DMOZ is considered by many to be the #1 directory, but there are dmoz pages that are buried so deeply they have no PR. Check the PA of the page your site will be listed on before attempting to be listed in the BOTW directory. If the site does not have a good PA value, then the link will be of little value IF it is even seen.

Why are inbound links not showing?
I run the site http://www.eurocheapo.com and am finding that many inbound links are not showing up in OSE and on the toolbar. For example, check out this hotel review: http://www.eurocheapo.com/paris/hotel/hotel-esmeralda.html In OSE it shows only 2 links (from 1 domain), which is crazy. It has dozens of inbound links from many different domains (links:http://www.eurocheapo.com/paris/hotel/hotel-esmeralda.html). I notice this all over my site. Pages that we link between are also showing no internal links -- which is easy to disprove. Was there a problem with this crawl? Or is the problem in our code? Many thanks for your help, Tom

Competitive Link Comparison vs. Open Site Explorer
I get different external followed links showing in the Competitive Link Comparison vs. Open Site Explorer. The total number of links is different as well. I thought this was the same info - just one tracks ongoing and one is just a "one-off" tool. Is this not the case? Do the count links differently? Thanks! Kevin

"Too many on page links" phantom penalty? What about big sites?
So I am consistently over the recommended "100 links" rule on our site's pages because of our extensive navigation and plentiful footer links (somewhere around 300 links per page). I know that there is no official penalty for this but rather that it affects the "link juice" of each link on there. I guess my question is more about how places like Zappos and Amazon get away with this? They have WAY over 100 links per page... in fact I think that Zappos footer is 100+ links alone. This overage doesn't seem to affect their domain rankings and authority so why does SEO moz place so much emphasis on this error?

Conflict in reported link data
I have a competitor in a campaign - the campaign report shows 181 linked domains BUT - the site explorer report shows only 15 linked domains. Which is correct? Â And if the site explorer is correct - how do we fix the campaign report? Relevancy In Link Building
Hi, I'd like to build links to my websites from other relevant sites that are about similar topics. To do that in the best way, I am looking for a tool that generates keywords for a specific site or a page. This tool should basically analyze the website and understand what topics is it about. Then I can compare my website and the website I am looking to do link building in and see if the relevance is high. I remember SEOMOZ had a similar tool. Why is the crawler following form action links?
I have an issue with one of my sites where the SEOMoz crawler is following some form action links. It is my understanding that the crawler will ignore these links. Why would it not be ignoring them in certain cases. If you need more detail, please ask. Thanks.
