Do you ever forget the SEO basics?
-
We all get a little sloppy at times. Just yesterday , someone pointed out that I accidentally blocked the robots from one of our primary pages, because it was being included in a wildcard match on one of the disallow commands in robots.txt.
Sometimes the mistakes are very basic. The one below is just too funny. I thought I would share the love. Search Google for "MD care"
MD Care Inc. - Welcome<a id="LXPLSS_979677678U1"></a>
<cite>www.mdcarehealthplan.com/</cite>
This is an SEO description that will be seen by the search engines and used in the search results.
The meta keywords tag is even funnier:
<meta name="keywords" content="spam,the,keywords,here,like,this,and this,good" />

how are you going to noindex a cgi-bin, or scripts, or pdfs you don't want indexed or image folders with the noindex meta though
-
Call me paranoid, or maybe a control freak, but noindex meta tag is my friend
It's gonna have to be a damned persuasive argument to get me to use robots.txt.
Seen too many disastrous mistakes!

Thanks - I am not that bad - I only blocked out one page. I'll just wait until Google comes around.

The meta keywords does make for a good laugh. Their terms of use also states you need written permission to link to them, which is a bit amusing.
Irvingw, did you see the YouMoz post from two days ago about accidentally noindexing the entire site? You're not alone, and if you need some ideas for getting the site reindexed faster, you might check it out at http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/accidental-noindexation-recovery-strategy-amp-results.

Yoast SEO doesn't recognize images
Hi, I'm currently adding alt tags to my images but the Yoast SEO plug in in Wordpress states on all my pages “No images appear in this page, consider adding some as appropriate.“ while I do have images on my pages. What could be the problem? Best, Rik

Is there some reputed company/person which can fix the SEO issues for me?
One of my websites http://forum32.com/ was ruling the roost shortly after it launched. We cover BTS (behind the scenes) etc of the TV shows that my production company makes. But then it all went downhill. I do understand that my readership fluctuates with the number of shows I am doing and therefore covering but for a show like "Qubool Hai" which has been running for the past 3 years and we do almost two posts about it - we rank nowhere. Could posting about this "too much" be a problem? Anyway I have been breaking my head over this for the past six months and spent a lot of time trying to set this right but: 1. I am running out of time as I am about to start directing another show. 2. I am not even sure if what I am doing is right! Can any person/company Which is well trusted help me out of this situation? Does anyone have any experience with Instart Logic, and its effects (if any) on SEO?
Instart Logic is a content delivery network CDN, which claims to have a positive effect on time to first bite (TTFB). Faster site = good for SEO, right? Our initial investigation seems to confirm its claims to some degree, which is great, but at the same time we think it may lower our score on Google's PageSpeed Insights tool, which sort of negates its effect in other areas. If the user experience is worse (according to Google's own tool), are we effectively shooting ourselves in the foot by concentrating on TTFB as a ranking algorithm factor? SEO Location Pages - ALT Image Tag Question
Hello Guru's, I have a Hire Website whereby you can rent products online. I have created different Location pages for these which are in essence the same pages page but with different location specific urls, title tags , on page content etc etc. This helps me to rank for local search. These location pages also display 20 products per page. My question is Should I make the ALT IMAGE TEXT location specific for each of the 20 products . Example - Steam Cleaner Rental in "location" or should I only amend a few of the Atl Image Texts to be location specific. I don't want to come accross as spammy in google eyes but I also don't want to be seen as having duplicate content , images etc etc What do you think ? thanks Sarah.

N/A For On-page SEO Report
I have 8 errors and 44 warnings last week. Over the week, I corrected broken links, duplicate titles, meta tags, and duplicate page content. Now after it was run again, I'm getting an N/A. Does N/A mean there are NO errors at all on the site? I didn't fix all of the errors and warnings but most I did. My website is also up and running. Please let me know if I'm missing something or if I did that good of a job for my client's on-page SEO stuff, which I doubt despite moving the needle forward. Thanks
