Curious meta-tag
-
Has anyone met this meta tag?
<meta name="ranking" content="Top10, Page=1" />
I imagine it has no effect but I'm curios where did it came from, i saw it on many sites
-
It's not april 1st so what's going on.
<meta name="pagerank" var="11" />
-
Yes, i know, i made the inquiry.
The curios fact is that a site with duplicate content issues and pr 3 outranks a pr 7 website for the main keyword targeted. (full domain match for both of them)
-
There was an inquiry about that site just yesterday. The site has significant issues such as it is duplicated with a www and non-www version.
-
www.comunicatedepresa.net is one of them
you can find others by a simple google search:)
-
I actually thought I made it up! I never actually seen anyone use it.
I have seen people use meta tags which were not valid for Google (to say the least) or people who were convinced the meta keywords tag had value. I very sarcastically advised a similar meta tag to the one you are displaying.
You've seen it on many sites? I would think the same person worked on all those sites. It is hard to imagine multiple people using that tag.

haha we wish that were a real tag!

Link in H1 tag?
Hi guys, We're working through a redesign of our product page and are considering the following: http://screencast.com/t/NBSsDGA9vgS3 Currently the product name (including the brand name - Arc'teryx) in this case is included in the H1 and none of the title is linked. You can see this here: http://www.evo.com/synthetic-jackets/arcteryx-atom-lt-hoodie-womens.aspx The firm we're working with is proposing keeping the entire title in the H1 but linking the brand name to the entire brand assortment. My concern is that the brand name is a critical part of the product title and should be text (not a link). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Why does Google not show my Meta Descriptions Sometimes ?
Hi Friends We have Meta Descriptions on our Pages but when certain keywords are typed into google search , different meta descriptions are created , for example when searching for "fancy dress" we see our meta description which is correct - Shop with Party Domain for all your Fancy Dress. 1000s of Fancy Dress Ideas at CHEAP Prices. Halloween Fancy Dress. Next Day Delivery and Same Day ... However when searching for "fancy dress costumes" the same page is ranked but the meta description is Fancy Dress. Female Pirate Fancy Dress Costume. £ 13.80. Female Pirate Fancy ... SKU: G11034. Pirate Captain Fancy Dress Costume. £ 12.22. RRP: £ 15.02 ... Thanks Adam

Benefits of having a Title-Tag that fits on the SERP
Has anyone seen any case studies that show that title-tags that fit on the page (http://moz.com/blog/new-title-tag-guidelines-preview-tool) have a higher ctr than title-tags that don't fit? I know it's been said that keywords past the pixel limit still matter but if there's a major benefit to ctr for title-tags that fit....Any thoughts?

Should I include a meta description for my tags on posts
Hi Our crawl report detects that we have not put in a meta description for any of the tags we have used on our blog. (total tag words we have used is around 70). We have however, put a full description of each of our categories, do we really need to put a description for each of the tags we use? Will this really help us with SEO? Also can tags on posts be the same as the keyword your trying to rank the post/article about? For further information We are using Yoast.

ALT tagging images with keyword. What is too much?
I was wondering about the best practices of ALT tags in images. Say if you have an eCommerce site and you're on a product page. This product page has 5 images of the same product (different images), should you give every image an Alt tag with the keyword for that page? Or, is that keyword stuffing, and it would actually be best practice be to provide alt tags on just one image?

Page Title in Local SEO Title Tags?
Hi All, Still working on my title tag usage for local SEO, and I was hoping for some more feedback. My question is this: In Local SEO titles, I'm using location + keyword combinations, unique on each page. However, since each page has a specific title for the client, I figure I should be placing that at the front. My thought here was that this helps with the overall usability to the reader of the website. Ex. Contact Us page for Pizza shop Contact Us | Springfield IN Gourmet Pizza | Moe's Italian Pizza Anyone have thoughts on this one? Thank you!

Will changing the title tags cause me to lose rankings?
I have a site that gets pretty decent rankings. Based on Seomoz's assessment of my site I have ALOT of title tags that are too long. If I make modifications to my title tags will that hurt my rankings? I am also thinking of removing my company name from the title tag as that is taking up too much space.

Meta Description not displaying in Google
Hi Mozzers, I have a client that wants to change the way the meta description for some of his pages is being displayed. I've tried using the NOOPD and NOYDIR tags and its not worked. This isn't the client but perform this search in Google.ie - "accommodation newry daft" you get this result - http://www.google.ie/#hl=en&sclient=psy-ab&q=accommodation+newry+daft&pbx=1&oq=accommodation+newry+daft&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=11197l11712l2l12016l5l5l0l0l0l0l186l851l0.5l5l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=f5c640577bb5a285&biw=1600&bih=775 See how Daft.com (2nd results down) has the text "10+ items" in the description- my client has this as well as do many other competitors but its not present in the meta description tag. Anyone know how to get rid of this and get the good old meta descrition in the SERPs? Thanks BUsh
