I have two good high level DA sites that target the US (.com) and UK (.co.uk). The .com ranks well but is dormant from a commercial aspect - the .co.uk is the commercial focus and gets great traffic.

Issue is the .com ranks for brand in the UK - I want the .co.uk to rank for brand in the UK.

I can't 301 the .com as it will be used again in the near future. I want to block the .com in Robots.txt with a view to un-block it again when I need it.

I don't think the DA would be affected as the links stay and the sites live (just not indexed) so when I unblock it should be fine - HOWEVER - my query is things like organic CTR data that Google records and other factors won't contribute to its value.

Has anyone ever blocked and un-blocked and whats the affects pls?

I've been looking at a clients site and Google is pulling the prices of the products (for some not all) and the pages that rank have started to have a lower organic CTR.

Does anyone know how I can control what prices show in the SERPs? There is no Schema on the site to display this and the price is not in the meta title or description - it's just appearing on some pages - it's not uniform across the site?

Any ideas?

I'm working for a client offering legal services in Spain for people from the UK.

When I search 'legal services' in Google.es all the SERPs show sites from the US - mainly NY:

There are lots of Spanish sites translated into English and showing sites in Google.es such as http://www.lsosm.org/ offer no value - it's a very weird SERP - any ideas why?

Hi Bridget,

It's actually remedied now - it was a server loading issue with some images and now it's showing correctly.

It was a category page and I can't share details I'm afraid as it's a client's site, however if you had the schema markup for thumbs in mobile search at category level that would be really helpful - thanks so much for your time

Hi Bridget - sorry to jump in on an old Q&A.

I have a thumbnail image showing in the mobile SERPs which is incorrect. Is there a Schema markup we can add to suggest Google show a product rather than the current image which is un-related.

Hi Mozzers,

I just check a site in OSE and while the inbound domains are up the total links have dropped and therefore DA and PA.

How can I find which links have gone. I'm assuming a domain passing 1000's of links has either gone down or broken the link - can I use the ISE tool to fine which links have been recently broken? I know there is just discovered for new links. If not can you recommend a tool please.

I have a client that is rebuilding their eCommerce store. We are deliberating how to map the URL structure.

My advice is and has always been to have language as the structure so the UK and US markets in English but separate pages with href=lang tags so the engines rank the correct page, the French page in French and tagged correct, German in German etc etc

This way we have a clear page to optimise and build links into and the users select the currency ($ / £ / € or Ruble)

They may want to have it by Currency, so rather than /UK or /US it would be /dollar, /sterling etc etc

Have you any experience with both structures and what are the pros and cons as it seems clear to me language should be the way foreward

They are using Magento 2 as well if that influences anything.

Are you familiar with a quick and simple way to implement this in Shopify by any chance? The issue we have is we can add something site wide in the head tag but not auto generate it for every page. That said the rel=canonical tags are on there at URL level - do you have any experience with href=lang in Shopify?

Hi,

I'm conducting an on-page review for someone and have noticed something I've not seen before.

Some of the major internal links from the home page are marked as no follow. For example:

<a <span="">href</a><a <span="">="</a>/customer-services" rel="nofollow">Customer Services

This is on the top navigation bar and the content in this and all other sections are marked as no-follow but they should all be crawled. Is this an error or am I missing something?

Any ideas guys?

Hi - Yes I've seen my clients metrics move and there are a tonne of p155ed off people out there on the Anlaytics forum and here as well - http://www.seroundtable.com/google-analytics-session-definitions-13872.html

I've been looking into this and I think just as many who have left comments, that there is a bug when calculating the session times or returning visits incorrectly being flagged as a traffic source.

There is definitely big issues around the session update.

The meta data is very clear on what the site is about (both title and description). The issue is it's showing up in the SERPs and users are just clicking without reading anything.

I can't give timeframes but I had a client who had 100+ property sites interlinked (nothing to do with my advice!) and these guys starting to see the sites with no other links in their portfolio get smashed for rankings. One was pretty much de-indexed and was not ranking for its meta title. I sent a re-inclusion request via Google WM tools and after around 5 weeks the site started to rank again. It ranked worse after the drops but I think you'll find that the rankings and traffic were won by an artificially inflated link graph so if you get a re-inclusion request filed and all is forgiven it will be lower down in the SERPs as the site should not have been so high in the first place.

Thats what happened to me anyway but how G react depends on how many other non-reciprocal links you have. When you file a re-inclusion request grovel and come clean. Thats what I did and it seemed to work.
