What is domain linking and linking root domains?
-
Hey guys!
I am proud to be a new SEOMOZ Pro member!
I ran the report on my site and it says what I am primarily missing is domain linking....
What is this? it says I only have 3 of them for the specific term / subpage I am going after.
In addition what does Linking Root Domains mean in my report?
Thanks much!

You may have 1000's of links pointing to your root domain, however, if you are trying to rank a sub-page for a specific term, you may want to find unique domains that can provide direct links to the target page (anchor and generic), thereby increasing your overall linking domain count for both your domain and sub-page

Ok, I understand the linking root domains but I have literally thousands of links to my MAIN domain. But I am also building links to my actual sub-pages so I can obtain better rankings for that term. What am I doing wrong?

Linking Root Domains are the number of Individual Websites that are linking to you. For example, if you have 1000 links but they all come from different pages on the same website, that counts as only 1 Linking Root Domain.
My guess is that you need to acquire links to your homepage and your site as a whole from a wide range of different websites so as to build up your general site authority.

Seeing steady drop in Domain Authority?
Hi! I'm working with a client that has seen a steady drop in their domain authority over the past year and a half. They were at 75 in October '13 and now they're down to 67. The drop seems rather steady over this time, no big dip. They've actually worked their crawl errors during this time and have reduced a ton of them. I can't figure out why this metric would be dropping. Anyone know of something measurable I can look at to help pinpoint the problem (and of course actions to fix it)? Thanks so much!

ERROR: Too Many on-page links!
User wise, my product menu @LEDSupply.com is user friendly, but I'm concerned that it might be seen by crawlers as bad because of the TOO MANY ON-PAGE LINKS error I am getting in my moz crawl report. Is it really counting all the links in every drop-down menu? If so, is there are resource on how to fix it????

Total number of outbound external links?
Hi Mozzers, Is anyone aware of a tool that will tell me how many outbound external links there are on my website? Basically, I have a theory that our website is littered with links to other websites, but need to know the approximate figure. As far as I can tell, none of the Moz tools tell me this? Any help appreciated! Cheers Matt

Sudden increase in on-page links
Within one week, the site crawl shows my on-page links going from ~10 to ~100+ Does anyone know of a rational reason for this? Sucuri shows my site is clean, so I don't think it's a hack. 10 seems too low to begin with anyway. Any ideas? Thanks 🙂

When will links appear
When will links appear? Hi I submitted one of our products to a range of beauty bloggers and all of the reviews came back, really positive, along with links to our site. However when I run a back link report in open site explorer only one of these links is showing up even though the links all went live at about the same time. Can any one explain this in discrepancy?

How to Link sub-pages of a category without cannibalization?
What's the best practice to link to sub-categories without cannibalizing SEO? Main page title = Dog Sub page title = dog collar Sub sub page = spiked dog collar I used SEOMoz program and it showed the link from the main page to the sub page as cannibalized and also as duplicate title Same thing for the sub-sub page. How to avoid it? Please provide examples Questions: Would you use: dog_collar or dog-collar for the sub-page? How would you link to the sub page from the main page? How to title the sub pages to avoid duplicate titles? How would you link to the website from other websites? What kind of tags would you want used in the links?

Too Many On-Page Links
The SeoMoz site crawler says all my pages have too many links. I am using Dreamweaver with a horizontal Spry drop-down menu bar. My site has several hundred pages and about 100 of them show up in this Spry menu bar. I believe that this would be considered a false positive for too many links - am I right? Or is Google seeing this also as too many links per page? I am trying to get my Google rankings back after being hurt badly by the Penguin. I am using php but don't see another way to do the site links without going to a CMS type site. Thanks for any help you can give.
