Local Marketing for Multiple Locations

I have a client who recently expanded to New York from Miami, so now they have 2 active locations. They currently rank very well for local Miami terms both organically and on local maps. Any specific recommendations as to how to go about optimizing for the New York terms without compromising the Miami terms? BOTH organically and on Local map listings.

First,
It is a bit difficult to understand the concern without knowing the type of site at least: is it a retail site keeping the single website and just including the new location? A service business? A restaurant? What is size of the site?
Assuming that you already have set up the Places, Bing Business Portal, and Yahoo Local in NY, and that you understand you are going to maximize those listings as you did in Miami: pictures, videos, city mentions, reviews pertinent to NY as opposed to Miami, etc., the next thing is how to market your search terms within New York. You mention optimizing New York terms without compromising Miami, is there a way to have other content pages that use New York but are not duplicate to Miami?
Again, a bit more info would help.

Unsolved Duplicate Contents in Order Pages of Multiple Products
Hi, I have a website containing 30 software products. Each product has an order page. The problem is that the layout and content of these 30 order pages are very similar, except for the product name, for example: https://www.datanumen.com/access-repair-order/

Hi, Our company has a .com website which we target various countries from. Its a young company with little or no SEO pedigree, and under 50 external links. We dont rank highly for anything except the company name. Here is the company website: www.pulse-advertising.com We are now expanding in the UK and I was wondering if we should be owning the .co.uk website and targeting that or should we continue with a .com url and try and localise it (UK address, phone number, etc). Finally, if you do suggest that we stick to .com, would you recommend we buy the local urls (.co.uk, .de, etc) and then put a redirect 301? Please suggest. Thanks!

Multiple page rank - harm or good?
Can someone explain this to me, as I just ranked a page on our website and intended to do the same for 3 other pages. our home page is currently ranked well, but after reading this (below from Moz) I'm concerned if i'm doing more harm then good. I just ranked the page 3 days ago, I haven't seen any drops yet. When multiple pages with the potential to rank well are combined into a single page, they not only stop competing with each other, but also create a stronger relevancy and popularity signal overall. Link flow for multiple links to same URL

my question is as follows: How does Google handle link flow if two links in a given page point to the same URL? (do they flow link individually or not?) This seems to be a newbie question, but actually it seems that there is little evidence and even also little consensus in the SEO community about this detail. Answers should include source Information about the current state of art at Google is preferable The question is not about anchor text, general best practises for linking, "PageRank is dead" etc. We do know that the "historical" PageRank was implemented (a long time ago) without special handling for multiple links, as e.g. last stated by Matt Cutts in this video: http://searchengineland.com/googles-matt-cutts-one-page-two-links-page-counted-first-link-192718 On the other hand, many people from the SEO community say that only the first link counts. URL structure for professional services across multiple industries
I am working with a company who does consulting work across multiple industries, but the services are essentially the same. Example Services: They implement "Customer Relationship Management" systems and "Data Archiving" Solutions. Example Industries: The services above can each apply to "Oil & Gas" or "Retail". Example URL Structures: mysite.com/oil-gas <-- This page would also contain links to all of the services provided to the Oil & Gas industry. mysite.com/oil-gas/customer-relationship-management-system mysite.com/retail mysite.com/retail/customer-relationship-management-system This seems like the best way to go, as long as i'm writing unique content, for each industry, for each service (i.e. I need to explain how a CRM solution solves specific problems in retail and OTHER specific problems in Oil & Gas). While there will certainly be some overlap, this approach seems logical to me. The URL length isn't too long either, which is nice. The company currently solely focuses on services in URL structure (not a very deep site): mysite.com/customer-relationship-management-system mysite.com/data-archiving Since they have already worked with hundreds of clients in multiple industries, it seems smarter to start focusing more on individual customer segments. How do you handle different business locations for search?
Would like to get peoples suggestion on how you handle different business locations in different cities. We have tried multiple tactics for different clients. Some have worked better than others. Example: We have a window company that does great in Austin. Now they want to move into Dallas. In the past, we have created "landing pages" optimized for that locality. However, with Googles new updates I dont think this will work anymore. With others, we have added a "tab" and have similar pages of the entire site optimized for that location. This seems to have been working better. What are your suggestion of how you handle different locations from city to city. Any input is appreciated! Thanks! Charles

How to "on page" seo a small local service business - particularly headers
First off, let me apologize if this question is posted elsewhere, worded differently. I've looked around quite a bit and have been unable to find the answer. Basically, we are a small web design firm just getting our feet with with SEO. Most of our clients, especially initially, will be quite small, local, service businesses. For example: and electrician, a pet sitter, a retail printing and map store, a surgeon etc. Almost all of their sites will follow a basic "business card on the web" format... Home Page - About Us - Testimonials - Rates - FAQ - Contact Us - Etc So, from what I've read about on-page optimization, making sure my keywords are in the title, header, body, and meta description is one of the easiest and quickest things we can do for our clients. This is a straightforward concept for me when applied to the homepage. For example, take the local pet sitting business. Her keywords are: Pet sitting, Dog walking, and the city we live in, Anytown USA. So, I've used those keywords in all the appropriate places on the home page: title: Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Service in Anytown USA header: Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Service in Anytown USA first sentence of body: We are a professional Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Service in Anytown USA meta description: We are a professional Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Service in Anytown USA. At Business Name your furry friends become a part of our family. So, my question is: Do I also optimize the "about us" page? I've changed the title of all the pages to follow this format: Dog Walking and Pet Sitting in Anytown USA - Home Dog Walking and Pet Sitting in Anytown USA - About Us Dog Walking and Pet Sitting in Anytown USA - Rates Dog Walking and Pet Sitting in Anytown USA - FAQ Dog Walking and Pet Sitting in Anytown USA - Etc Easy enough so far. Also pretty easy for the meta description, and the body. However, how would I add keywords to the header without making it look ridiculous? We use wordpress with the genesis framework, and child themes from studiopress. The header is always prominently visible at the top of the page. Most people would expect to see the header be the same as the link they clicked on the nav bar: for example, on the "about us" page, people expect the header to be: "about us" Not: "dog walking and pet sitting in Anytown USA - About Us" Do I just not worry about the headers on the other pages? For that matter, I'd really like people to "land" on the home page, not any of the other pages, so should I not optimize them at all? Does optimizing the rest of the pages help the home page to show up higher in the SERPS? If I do end up optimizing the rest of the pages, should I use slightly different spellings of the keywords: like Dog walker instead of dog walking? Or pet sitter instead of pet sitting? I've repeatedly seen people talk about not using the same keywords on more than one page... but for most of these businesses there are really fairly few keywords. There just isn't that many different ways that someone is going to search for an electrician, or a plumber, or a pet sitter. By the second or third page that I optimize on one site, I imagine I'll start running out of different variations of the keywords. I recognize that a lot of what we'll do that will be most helpful to local clients has nothing to do with on page optimization (setting up google places, google+, yahoo + bing local, etc). I'd just like to make sure that I'm doing the on page stuff as perfectly as possible. Right now the pet sitting client mentioned above is using: www.petcare_Anytown_.com After operating her business for the last year she realized she is much more interested in dog walking than pet sitting. We are in the processes of redesigning the site, and when finished, are considering moving it to: www.dogwalking_Anytown_.com My assumption is that as long as we use permanent redirects from the old site to the new one, we shouldn't lose much SEO value. Is this thinking correct? On a related note though: another article I read mentioned that using a brand name in the domain may actually be more useful than the keyword rich domains above. However, www._businessname._com happens to already be taken by a pet sitting business at the other end of the country. We could however use: www.businessnameAnytown.com Which one do you think would work better? The keyword/location domain, or the businessname/location domain? Thanks!

Image titles and alt tags for multiple images
I'm hoping some of you may be able to help me understand the best way to optimize my image titles and alt tags for a specific situation. I'm working on an interior design website and they have hundreds of pictures. each of their projects has about 10 pictures. Is it best for me to us the key phrase in each title and tag? or is that to repetitive? here is what I mean: A project called "urban interior design" all images are of urban interior design, just different angles and features, so my initial idea is to just have each image title like this: Title: "urban interior design dinning area" Alt: "urban interior design dinning area view" Title: "urban interior design living room" Alt:"urban interior design living room couch view" Is this the best way or will it actually hurt my ranking with too much exact keyword use?
