Social Profile for my business, where do I start
-
Hi,
Today our business has no social presence so we are starting from the ground up. We have implemented the Google +1 button across the site, but nothing more.
The social sites I'm considering targeting are:
- Linked In
- Google +1
I already have personal accounts used personal sharing on Linked In, FB and +1.
I'm unsure whether I need to create a new facebook account for each of those and then create the business profile on each one or whether I should use my existing personal account.
Further, for Google +1, there was no requirement to create any business page of any kind, all I had to do was take the code and insert it into the website. That confused me as for Facebook and Linked In, I was sure you must have an account up in order to have the social Like or Share button working
Given I'm at the very start of this process, it would be great to get others input into how they went about this, and perhaps share any pitfalls they may seem obvious to avoid in hindsight.
Thanks.

Hi,
We are in the Information Technology space.
I have decided on Google +1, Facebook, Linked In and Twitter for the time being.
I am now working on setting up the content aggregator with ping.fm and hootsuite as per your response in my other question.
Appreciate your feedback.

What business are you guys in?
My opinion....
Linked In if you need to make contacts/relationships with other vendors. It's the most professional way of doing this. But I don't use linked in so I can't say much.
Facebook is a must IMO
Twitter if you want to make contacts and relationships with other vendors. I've made some good relationships here... it's easy and candid.
Re Google +1. I think you might have a google +1 account automatically if you have a google account. I'm not sure if you're +1's are automatically related to that account though? I haven't been paying much attention to google +1 stuff

.com or .me for freelance business?
Hey there, Which domain do you think is better and why? (1) surnamename.com or (2) surname.me? Since Google treats both the same in terms of the rankings, my biggest concern is about the branding. (1) is longer but is .com (people usually see .com as more trusted one). (2) is shorter, easier to remember, but less tech savvy people might be confused with .me. Purpose of the site is personal/freelance profile. Other domain versions are already taken. Shoot the ideas! Cheers, Martin

B2B Social Media
Hi, Wondered if anyone has any useful articles or tips for social media for a B2B generalist ecommerce site. We have started thinking about LinkedIn, but I know we need a lot more work & potentially to look at other channels/building a brand/personality online. I've read a few articles, about finding the unboring angle of your business - I'm just wondering how we can achieve this if we have thousands of products & potential customers - it's hard to know where to start & to get the buy in 🙂 It's something I want to push, so any tips would be great 🙂

Changing Social Media Profiles Name
Hi Mozzers, A client is thinking about changing their social media handles to shorten them to just their brand name as opposed to brand name plus the word 'apparel'. What is the implications of doing this and does the link change from facebook/brand-apparel or does the URL stay the same? Thanks Gareth

Is it "correct" to welcome to my social community an authority figure?
Hi, I just "earned" an authority figure as a follower on my company's twitter account (not a big account - 600 followers). The authority figure is the founder of a very relevant and big niche news site. Should I welcome her to my community? Is it correct putting her on the spot?

Will it offend other followers who I don't welcome? (Needless to say that I would love the opportunity to blog with them etc. - to have a relationship) Thanks0 -
Google plus reviews and multiple company profiles
We have a Google plus profile for our brand/ organisation which has become quite powerful. We are conscious that we don't want to miss out on local search queries so want a local page but we don't want to get rid of the company page that we have built. We are a nationwide website with one physical shop. Will having a local business Google plus page and a company Google plus page be seen as duplicate or in any way negative- especially if you are posting similar/ the same links and content on both pages. We also want to encourage reviews- is it possible to leave reviews on company pages or is it only though local G+ pages? There is a reviews tab but it does not seem possible to leave reviews. On the main Nike G+ page is it possible to leave reviews or would those companies have to set up local pages for people to review?

How to Force Merge 2 Place Listings (Both Incorrect & Different) for Same Business
Hi,
Branding | | emerald
I'm not sure what action to follow as nothing online seems to describe my Google Place situation - trying to merge 2 completely incorrect business listings for our company, that are also not identical. We have 2 listings on Google Places for our 1 company but a recent address number change has added further complication to already incorrect and different listings. our first/oldest listing was created by google but with incomplete business name, wrong map pin, completely wrong address, but shows our trip advisor reviews. created by us a year ago (we didn't realize the dupe issues) with full business name, correct address at the time (now incorrect since address number change), correct map pin, full description photos and info. This does not link to our trip advisor reviews. How to merge these when they aren't curently identical or correct? All online help seems to explain identical dupes but not this situation. What updates I tried recently: After some research, I changed all citations on the web to no.2 business name (except trip advisor who would not change), our new address number and then updated our no.2 address listing. But has stayed pending for months. It seems to be live, but still with the old incorrect address that does not match citations or our website. When I tried claiming both places with same account it showed the same pending new info I updated for no.2 in dashboard (so I can't edit no.1), but this data is not is not live on either. Last week I decided to do something radical, so logged in with a different account to reclaim no.1 and copied all information pending in no.2 to no.1 so that they should be exact same and hopefully force to merge. Both are pending and 2 different accounts now. What else can I do? We can rank locally while the 2 listings are like this. Should I call Google helpline and explain?0 -

Separate social media accounts for 1 biz w/ multiple locations?
I'm managing a hospital that is acquiring several locations. Are there advantages to having a Facebook and Twitter account for each location? Or is it SEO smart to use one account for discussing all properties? Thank you,
