7 months ago I asked the same question.. I am reaching out to all of you
What platforms do you hate? and want to meet the guys or girls that coded it in a dark ally way...
and
What platforms are good? I keep looking at the code of some sites and its shocking.
No GA Async code, No canonical tags.. it goes on and on..
If you want to pitch to me and you are in the UK email me robert@thefurnituremarket.co.uk

I made a demo store a few months ago and it seemed to have the right levels of functionality that I needed. I will take a closer look again soon.

Yeah, Magento has upload built in.
What might be a good idea is to download and install Magento to get the back end and features a try before you buy a website built on it. It's free and quite easy to setup.
-
I need a site that can handle 5,000 lines so some sort of bulk upload feature is a must really.
-
The ideal would be for you to talk with a developer who specialises in Magento who can go through your requirements and help you work out if it's the right platform for you. Send me a PM with your contact details and I'll get someone from our development team to give you a call - they've built Magento sites, they deal with them day-to-day and sometimes take on outside clients.
-
I guess everyone will have their thoughts on this but for me I would want to see the websites they have built, in particular the ones in your industry. Having a look though the sites will give you an idea of their design capabilities but also how well they have coded it in terms of site speed.
It would also be wise to speak to one of these companies to get a little bit of feedback on the developers (I find people are quite open and honest in their assessments).
From recent experience in looking for a Magento development company you will find the quotes you receive range massively. We received quotes from £5,000 to £225,000.
It really is a tough decision to make and get right so make sure you cover all the bases and get proposals from a wide range of companies.

How would I know before hand how to choose the right developer?
-
I think with most platforms if you get the right people to develop them it will do the job.
Magento seems to be the most popular at the moment and because of that has a of support / developments available. However as mentioned above if you don't pay for a quality developer you could end up with a very slow site.
-
What faults are you on about?
I hear we need at least 3 servers to run it and a developer to slim down the bulky code...
Does it have mods or add on's for SEO?
-
I hate osCommerce, and I think Magento is a far better e-commerce platform for SEO. Magento has it's faults, but it's a lot more flexible for on-page optimisation.

Does a similar CMS fabric/theme used by 2 colleagues, cause SEO issues?
Does using the same CMS fabric/theme with substantially different content for each website but the same business address (on google places and the websites) cause SEO issues? For example: 2 colleagues with somewhat similar services located at the same business addresses desire to use the same CMS fabric /theme but will have different content on the sites. Will this hurt their SEO / should they use a different website skin/theme?

Prismic.io CMS and SEO?
Looking for community feedback: Some of our In house developers want to use Prismic.io over Wordpress for it's alleged ease of organizing and "deploying" content. It's essentially a repository for content from which you make API calls to. It's a rather new platform. There a few posts in Quora around SEO but looking to see if anyone has had experience with platform. My concern is around page load times, excessive server requests, and content viewed as code. Any thoughts/ experiences would be much appreciated!

Address On Every page for e-Commerce site?
For a primarily e-commerce site, should you have your address on every page (in the footer, for example)? Or is it enough to just have it on the contact page? Thanks, Ruben

Woo-commerce inventory management?
Does anyone have ideas on how to manage inventory of an e-commerce furniture dropship store made from woo-commerce? I work with 10 drop shippers who all upload an excel sheet once of month with inventory and discontinued product information. Right no inventory is not being tracked. I simply tell the customer the item is out of stock which is NOT GOOD in the long term. I believe I have 2 options: 1. Program some automation

2. Indicated estimated shipping time of 1-6 weeks since an out of stock item takes about 4 weeks to be put back in stock. Remember I am selling furniture.1 -
Does an age verification home page hurt SEO?
There's a microbrewery in our area that just launched its first website. It has the "verify your age" homepage (which is not really their homepage, but I don't know what it's called) before you can enter. It looks like this: http://angrychairbrewing.com/ Anyway, does this hurt them at all from a rankings standpoint? Also, assuming bots/spiders/ROGER can crawl sites like this, (which I think they would have to be able to do) how do they get around this verification? Thanks, Ruben

How does using a CMS (i.e. Wordpress/Drupal) affect backlinks and SEO?
So I need to build a website with over 100 pages in it. Elements of the design will probably be moved around and or tested so I need to use a CMS. It's pretty much a review site so while the content will remain static I'd like to employ A/B testing to mess with conversion rates. Wordpress has a plugin for that even. So I'm just wondering, since CMS pages are pretty much created on spot and not retrieved from a library, how this affects backlinks and anchor text? How exactly does the external website point to yours if the URL is dynamically generated? Or am I misunderstanding something? Please recommend any extra resources as well if you can.
