Looking for Reviews on Ad Matching Company "Vertical Search Works"
-
Hey there,
We got cold called by "Vertical Search Works" - VerticalSearchWorks.com and while it sounds great (low CPC compared to our current PPC stuff) on great networks (DIY, HGTV), no contracts, pause anytime...
But RipOffReport has two bad reviews on them and I have not been able to search out anything else on them online. If anyone has insight before we start working with them, let me know!
Thanks!

Have you had any luck with other companies that are selling the same kind of service? It seems to me that reaching out to the companies that they put your ads on and just bypassing VSW would be a better option. I don't know if the pricing would be the same as what VSW offers but at least you would reduce the possibility of being scammed.

Hi Fancois, this comment above from (Feb 13) is older. Did you see my above comment from March 16th, 2012?

Hi Pashmina,
Was wondering the results of your test. Have recently interacted with VSW and not sure if it's even worth giving it a trial run. Their CPC is much higher than Adwords and I question their contextual targeting ability.
The account manager is nice, but a fast talker. He seems to be more accustomed to dealing with people that know nothing about SEM.
Any feedback you have would be welcomed!

That's a bummer, Pashmina!
I hate that argument that some of the advertisers are giving.
"Please spend $1k for a banner ad on our site."Sorry, we didn't get anything from it last time we tried.
"You were expecting CONVERSIONS!? You know, banner ads are really just a branding opportunity..."
Maybe for YOU, buddy...

Soooo... we ran our test with Vertical Search Works. Like Kristi's experience, we received traffic but the conversion rate was terrible, and well below par of our other paid advertising campaigns.
While I think their account service people were very nice, I did get into a bit of a healthy discussion (argument) with one of their Sales dudes about the "value" of their service and product.
This guy spent a good 15 minutes trying to convince me that the value shouldn't be measured in just conversions, but also in the 2 million plus impressions the ads received. I shot back and said that aside from lack of conversions which was obviously a driving force for an e-commerce client, site engagement in way of bounce rate, time on site, and page views were also below par. I also said impressions was a weak argument and a point with no merit given the client's goals (MORE SALES). This discussion then devolved into him defending the efficacy of their ad program, with me making funny faces as I listened (which thankfully he could not see).
Look, VSW sales dude: performance of your ads sucked. Plain and simple. I was both a little amused and a little annoyed that this guy was trying to convince me I was wrong.
Anyone care to agree, (laugh with me), or play devil's advocate?

Interesting. Okay we're are planning to run a test for one of our clients too. I'll post back in a couple months if we see any results. Thanks for the quick reply.

Hi Pashmina,
They were very nice but we didn't receive any conversions for what we spent. We spent about $500 and got some traffic from some high profile sites but nothing happened. I think some of it came from recipes which was not supposed to happen.
We did not have the budget to continue to test further.
-
Kristi, Did you ever go for the program with Vertical Search and how did it turn out?

Thanks David

Can't tell you about them - but i will say that cpc isn't as important as what type of quality visitor they send ie bounce rate , time on site , conv rate etc

Unsolved Google Ads - Subdomain on Sitelinks & Composition Change for Strategy Status
I have a basic query but could not find a definite answer on the internet. I am currently running a campaign for the main website of a big education brand and they also have a secondary learning website on subdomain, and I want to add sitelinks of subdomain to the campaign, but I am not sure whether it is allowed or not. The brand I am running ads for is https://www.rauias.com/ and the secondary website is https://compass.rauias.com/ branded slightly different in a subdomain, so should I add the sitelinks of Compass to the main campaign? Also one more silly question My Max Conversion search campaign gave me this status today. "Learning (composition change): Campaigns have been added to or removed from the bid strategy. Google Ads is now adjusting to optimize bids. 5 days left for learning" What does this mean exactly? And Why does it reenter the learning phase whenever I make a small change?

Can Google Shopping Ads Lower Ranking due to Bounce?
I am noticing Google Shopping Ads are showing up for really irrelevant keywords on some of my products. This quite predictably causes a high bounce rate when a user comes from these ads. There is very little control over what Google Ads seems to decide are relevant keywords from what I can see. Only control is by viewing search terms and setting as negative keywords, but his doesn't help much. Negative keywords are often ignored or they come up with some other really irrelevant new keyword. Seems this high bounce rate could hurt ranking? Any experiences shared with Google Shopping ads appreciated!

Changing Domains - Will a 301 redirect be looked unfavourably for my Ads?
Hey All, So over the next few weeks we are switching over a clients domain to a new one. Each of the old pages on the old domain will have a 301 redirect to it's new contextual page (with the same content). My question is this, we currently have multiple PPC campaigns running for this client and the ads are pointed towards the old domain so the ads will redirect over to the new domain. My question is this, will Adwords look at this redirection unfavourably? If so, then I will have to duplicate each ad (100's of ads) with a new destination URL (since if I edit the current ads they will lose all past performance history). Obviously for branding I'm going to have to probably change the display URL eventually but for now I'm looking at the BIG issues that could occur. I would normally call Google and ask this question but I don't want them to flag anything in my account just in case this is looked unfavourably. Thanks! Jon

SEMRush Ads Traffic Price VS their PDF report
I am running a report on a website trying to find their advertising budget online (or at least what I can find and have access to). When I type in the URL and look at the overview section it has the "Ads Traffic Price" at around $2,000/mo. But when I do a full PDF report it has the price at over $11,000/mo for Google USA. What am I missing? Doing wrong? Which is accurate? I'm pretty sure they spend quite a bit more than $11,000/mo in general as they were recently bought by Google and are owned by people from Apple. How do I get the mots accurate estimation in general? Or at least on SEMRush?

Recommend a company for Google Product Feed?
Hi there, Is there a Google Product feed company you've used and can recommend? We're not looking for anyone to manage the Adwords end of it, just help set-up/submit the data feed. I'm NOT looking for a free option, I'm looking for a reliable, efficient way to get the feeds set-up and updated. Thanks!

Adwords: Brand ads appear bottom of SERPs
Hello, I'm running a sale promotion on a brand only Adwords campaign (I have the only account with trademark authorization) and have noticed that my ads are appearing at the bottom of the first page on Google. This happened last week so I split the campaign into three Adgroups and that fixed the problem but today I'm running brand only and there is no way to separate them. CPC has also increased dramatically. Normally it's less than 10 cents and now it's sitting at between $2-$4. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas/advice on how to stop this happening? It's playing havoc with my CTR and conversions. Much thanks,

Adword competition between exact match and related broad match
If I have two company A and B. Company A: bid on key word exact [Nike and Jordan] Company B: bid on broad match Jordan shoesks Considering that broad match use related words I noted that google display both ads if I search Nike and Jordam (shoes is related with Nike). My question is: bid of B is competing with bid of A? therefore CPC of A increase because of B? Tks

Is it really worth it to invest on Facebook Ads?
Hi Guys, I've been wondering if it is really worth it to invest in facebook ads, there have been mixed reviews lately from the positive: http://techcrunch.com/2010/10/02/facebook-bigger-google/ to the more negative: http://www.seobook.com/facebook-vs-google-no-contest/ The industry I am trying to optimize for is gadget related, I've been running some adwords on it but I would want to venture on the social bandwagon which is facebook. Any Ideas? Suggestions? Reactions? Experiences you can share so I can come up with a better decision? Thanks A Bunch!
