Is DMOZ listing important"Important" is a highly relative and variable term. A DMOZ listing can be helpful and add to a site's credibility, therefore it is desirable to obtain if you can. The process of applying is relatively simple and should involve under an hour total effort. Sometimes you will apply to a category which has a response editor and you can be accepted quickly. Other times you will apply to a category with a bad editor where you can't get in at all, or the process can take 6+ months. You have absolutely no control over the process. Even if you get in, your link may be on a page which is not crawled because it is buried so deeply.
Summary - if you offer a quality website, I would always apply for a listing in DMOZ. Once you apply, I wouldn't recommend spending more then 5 minutes per month checking on the application status. Just apply and move on.

Others will yes its a great link. I can only give my opinion, i would not dismiss it but I think any listing for listing sake has to be doubted in value it provides search engines.
I tend to look for directories that have some sort of relevance, relevent too your location or relevant to your niche.
If i was you, I would be looking for Realestate directories and local directories for British Columbia.
If you were a google bot and you see that a RE agent is listed in Dmoz, what conclusions would you make, the owner has got it listed, it is reviewed so they can assume that the site is of some level of authenticity, oppsoed from a relevant site it can say that this guy is about reale estate and he is in the Courtenay, British Columbia area and is also reviewed. I think the latter is of more importance.
there has been a few easy ways to get links in the past, article posting, blog comments and directories. i have seen Matt Cutts state that out of the 3 local relevant directores still carry weight when mixed with quality links.
My tip is to concentrat on relevancy, not quantity or page rank, if you can get PR and quantity wheile being relevant thats great.

Google's Importance on usability issues in sub directories or sub domains?
Hi Moz community, As the different usability issues like pagespeed or mobile responsiveness are playing a key role in website rankings; I wonder how much the same factors are important for sub directories or sub domain pages? Do each and every page of sub directory or sub domain must be optimised like website pages? Does Google gives same importance? Thanks

Domains dominating SERPs w/multiple listings
I know Cutts addressed this as a potential future update to the Google algo but it's driving me bonkers.. My primary targeted keyword has one of our competitors listed 4 times in a row on the top of page 2. Some of the pages have duplicate page titles and the content is relatively thin. The site has a PR of 2 and a DA of 35. Why on earth are they able to suck up a whole half of a results page?!?!?! I don't know that there's anything anyone can tell me that will help, but if there's something I missed about this update please let me know. 'snot fair. 😞

Increased importance given to spammy/educational domains in SERPs!?
Hey guys, Can anyone shed some light on these bizarre and confusing SERPs which Google seems to be producing following their latest update?? For example, we have a client who targets "payday loans" with another targeting "IT services". However, since the update, the former keyword brings back a host of spammy domain results while the latter seems to have given all focus to educational institutions like universities. This just seems utterly ludicrous considering that if I'm searching for "IT services" I don't want the help desk of a local university - that's completely irrelevant, right? Can anyone provide some information on what seems to be going on? Thanks

Importance of Product Review Syndication?
Greetings everyone I have been tasked to do research on just how important it is to have product reviews syndicated with Google's (star rating found in Google Shopping). I am unable to find any research reports or studies on this nor any quantitative data on it's impact, beneficial or otherwise. If any of you folks have any first hand experiences, perhaps some before and after figures, that would be great. Thanks
