RE: Screaming frog Advice
Hey there mate,
Sorry to hear that you are having issues. You can actually ask Screaming Frog to use more RAM. If you haven't done that yet please give it a go.
You can find more here http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/user-guide/general/
If you want to crawl part of your site it can surely do that. You can exclude pages or whole sections.
Find more here http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/user-guide/configuration/
Hope this helps!

Multilingual Site and 301 redirection
Hey there awesome people of Moz
I have this site that has many languages in it.
The main language is English and my developer did the following
www.example.com ( is the main site ) which redirects with a 301 to www.example.com/en
if your geo location is supported by our languages then you will automatically be redirected to whatever language you have in your country but does the first language with is english have to 301 redirect to www.example.com/en ?
I thought that the right way is to just leave /en at the root file.
Thanks in advance

RE: Screaming Frog showing 503 status code. Why?
Recently I had that problem also mate.
Thing is if you have any server issues you might get 503.
If your site is on maintenance you might get 503.
If your site gets high traffic and goes down you might get a 503.
Best thing to do is check with Fetch as Google tool from WMT to see how Google sees it.

RE: Multilingual Sitemaps
It is indeed a great article but certainly does not answer any of my questions ( or i havent read the article correct )
My first question is: Do i have to do this
<loc>http://www.example.com/</loc>
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="<a href=" http:="" www.example.com="" "="" target="_blank">http://www.example.com/"/>
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="de" href="<a href=" http:="" www.example.com="" de"="" target="_blank">http://www.example.com/de"/>
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="fr" href="<a href=" http:="" www.example.com="" fr"="" target="_blank">http://www.example.com/fr"/></xhtml:link></xhtml:link></xhtml:link>
for all my 200.000 + sitemap pages?
Thanks Ryan for taking the time to answer

Multilingual Sitemaps
Hey there, I have a site with many languages. So here are my questions concerning the sitemaps. The correct way of creating a sitemap for a multilingual site is as followed ( by the official blog of Google )
<urlset xmlns="</span>http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9" xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="</span>http://www.example.com/"/>
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="de" href="</span>http://www.example.com/de"/>
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="fr" href="</span>http://www.example.com/fr"/><a href=" http:="" www.example.com="" fr"="" target="_blank"></xhtml:link><a href=" http:="" www.example.com="" de"="" target="_blank"></xhtml:link><a href=" http:="" www.example.com="" "="" target="_blank"></xhtml:link><a href=" http:="" www.sitemaps.org="" schemas="" sitemap="" 0.9"="" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></urlset>
**So here is my first question. My site has over 200.000 pages that all of them support around 5-6 languages. Am I suppose to do this example 200.000 times?****My second question is. My root domain is www.example.com but this one redirects with 301 to www.example.com/en should the sitemap be at ****www.example.com/sitemap.xmlorwww.example.com/en/sitemap.xml ???****My third question is as followed. On WMT do I submit my sitemap in all versions of my site? I have all my languages there.**Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond to this thread and by creating it I hope many people will solve their own questions.

Internal Links - Dofollow or Nofollow and why?
Hey there Mozzers,
I am a question about internal links. If I am writing a article about something and want to link to another one of my articles inside my blog, do i have to make that link nofollow or dofollow?
If possible tell me why also.
Thanks in advance

Rel="self" and what to do with it?
Hey there Mozzers,
Another question about a forum issue I encountered.
When a forum thread has more than just one page as we all know the best course of action is to use
rel="next"
rel="prev" or rel="previous"
But my forum automatically creates another line in the header called
Rel="self"
What that does is simple.
If i have 3 pages
http://www.example.com/article?story=abc1
http://www.example.com/article?story=abc2
http://www.example.com/article?story=abc3**instead of this **
On the first page, http://www.example.com/article?story=abc1
On the second page, http://www.example.com/article?story=abc2
On the third page, http://www.example.com/article?story=abc3:
it creates this
On the first page, http://www.example.com/article?story=abc1
So as you can see it creates a url by adding the ?page=1 and names it rel=self which actually gives back a duplicate page because now instead of just
http://www.example.com/article?story=abc1
I also have the same page at
http://www.example.com/article?story=abc1?page=1
Do i even need rel="self"? I thought that rel="next" and rel="prev" was enough?
Should I change that?

RE: Having a second homepage for a site would affect my SEO?
Hey Robert,
In my point of view that sounds like a landing page which as far as i know is perfect.
It actually helps visitors don't fall with there faces to many information that they don't need to know and confuse them.
Check out this article on Moz which is kinda old but for me still correct.
http://moz.com/blog/landing-pages-for-seo
Hope that helps.
