RE: Google+ Account for Authorship: Personal vs. Corporate Account
Hi Thomas,
Is there any particular reason that your authors do not want their own Google+ accounts? Perhaps they do not understand the personal benefits of having an account and especially of claiming Authorship. Have you educated them about Authorship, and how it is a win-win for the publisher and writers? I'm with you, though, you shouldn't set accounts up for them unless they are on board and going to take ownership of them.
As far as claiming Authorship with your personal Google+ account, you should definitely do this -- but only on pages that contain articles or posts that you created (with your byline.) In most cases, this means you should not claim Authorship for your home page, product pages, and definitely not contact forms, terms and conditions, etc.
I'm not sure if the fact that your Google+ account is in German is relevant or not. I will definitely look into this, though. Going to ping a colleague right now.
Cheers,
Christy -

RE: Google+ Account for Authorship: Personal vs. Corporate Account
Hi Thomas, it's great to hear from you. There are actually a few ways to do this. The most important things to remember are to only install the code on pages with relevant content (e.g. blog posts, articles and in-depth reviews, -not- product pages, -not- every single page of your site) and use the two-way or three-way linking method to link one relevant page to the individual Google+ account of its author. (Don't link to the brand page.)
Did you happen to see this recent Moz post on Authorship? It gives great advice for multi-author sites. Here are instructions from Google for installing Rel=Author code on individual pages.
Thanks for the update -- and please let us know if that works! Cheers, Christy

RE: Twitter Tool Question
Hi Matt, do you mean that you want to send the same thank you tweet to multiple people? If so, I highly discourage this. It will be highly obvious to your followers what you are doing, and possibly more insulting than appreciated. Automated DMs and replies can actually cost you followers. If someone takes the time to share your content, and you truly appreciate it, isn't it worth the time to send them a personalized tweet? (And it will definitely encourage them to share your content in the future, ahem.) That said, while you are most likely to maximize engagement if you respond organically -- as soon as possible after your content is shared -- I realize this isn't also practical. If this is the case, I would consider hammering out that list of personalized thank you tweets on a spreadsheet and scheduling them in advance (staggered, so you don't flood your feed with thank yous and overwhelm your followers.) Hootsuite makes it super simple to do this. Hope that helps! (Christy)

RE: Authorship not working despite code showing rel=author
Hi there! The page you gave as an example seems to have been removed (or the link to it is broken.) Were you able to resolve this issue? I did take a peek at a couple of your other blog posts and noticed that they are using Rel Author to link to a Google+ brand page (vs. a personal Google+ account). Rel Author should always be linked to an author's individual Google+ account. Would love to help you sort this out. Cheers, Christy

RE: Facebook Businees page or personal account?
Hi David,
Great question! Peter and Mat both make good points. A few more things:
1. You can also tell that the Natureflex is a business page, vs personal timeline, as it has a like button, does not have a birth date (nor other personal information), has an option to share the page with your friends, has a link to suggest an edit to the page "about" information, and shows the number of likes.
2. It is against Facebook's TOS to create two personal Facebook Timelines. I know several people who have done this (one for business contacts, and the other for personal friends only.) Their accounts could be shut down at any time. The thing is, what they could easily do that is within Facebook's TOS is convert one of those Timelines to a Page with their personal name on it. If you create a new Facebook Page to represent one of your clients as an individual person (vs. brand/product, etc.), choose "Artist, Band, or Public Figure." When you go to create a new Page, you have a variety of options to choose from. This is the one to choose if you are creating a Page for any individual person (even if they are not technically an artist, band, or public figure.) When you select this option, you'll have a long list of categories to choose from, including "Business Person." See Rand Fishkin's page as an example.
3. Here is some more information about Facebook Pages that you may find useful.
Please let us know if we have answered your question, and how you get on.
Cheers,

RE: How to separate your - keywords - and | Brand name in the Title Tag
Hi Switch, thanks for your question! Chris is correct in that it is best practice to keep your title brief and readable, with your keyword on the front end and your brand name on the back end. I personally feel that separating the page/article title from the brand name makes the tag easier to read. As Google now truncates title tags based on the total width of the characters (vs. the number of characters), I prefer using the pipe separator for this purpose. Hope that helps!

RE: Author avatar in homepage search result
Hi DK! First make sure that your Yoast plugin is up-to-date, then go into its options for Social. You will see three tabs: Facebook, Twitter, & Google+. Click on the one for Google+, and then select "Don't show" Author for homepage in the drop-down menu. There are only two options on the Google+ tab, Author for homepage and Google Publisher Page. Let me know how that works for you!
Cheers, Christy

RE: Trouble implementing rel=publisher

RE: Www for main site and non www for integrated blog - is this a problem?
Hi Chammy, that is great that the blog is in the subfolder. Awesome. Now you need to decide whether to use the "www" or not for both the main site and blog. Either use www.mainsite.com with 301 redirect from non www version with www.mainsite.com/blog with 301 redirect from non www version OR mainsite.com with 301 redirect from www version and mainsite.com/blog with 301 redirect from www version.
The reason that it is best practice to redirect from the subdomain www to the root (or vice versa) is to prevent duplicate content and prevent domain authority from being split between two sites, as the search engines view www.mainsite.com and mainsite.com and separate sites. So if you keep things the way they are, your blog will not be on the same site as the main site, and you will lose out on the benefits of building a single, strong site -- not to mention the internal linking headaches that you will have!
So, to answer your questions: This is not okay. Yes, they should both be www or non www. And yes, you should worry ... but only if you don't do something.
-
RE: Www for main site and non www for integrated blog - is this a problem?
Hi Chammy, to get the full value of the blog (and save yourself from headaches later on), you should integrate it into the main site in a subfolder. This will consolidate all of your content into a single site. It is easier and faster to build up the authority of one site than two, which is what you will have to do if you leave the blog on the root and the main site on the "www" subdomain. That's my short answer. Hope it helps, and let me know if you have questions!

RE: Authorship Photo Not showing in for last 6 months now
Hi Gagan, thanks for the clarification. Chris is correct about why Google is striking through some terms in the SERPs. But we digress ... back to Authorship!
As I noted earlier in this thread, I'd work on increasing engagement with your site content, as well as boosting the authority of your Google+ profile. This may result in Authorship displaying more often, for more queries. I would also definitely work on increasing the quality of your blog posts. The content of many of your posts is very similar to product descriptions and reviews on other sites. This should help your rankings, too (not to mention drastically reduce the changes of your site being penalized for duplicate content.) Hope that helps!
