Hi Adamjack, did you see Dmitrii's response to your question? We would love to help you, but need some clarification first.
Hi Koendezutter!
Dmitri has provided you with a lot of valuable information in his response. Did any of it help answer your questions, or do you need more assistance? We would love an update!
Christy
Andy is correct, we do not allow job postings in this forum. Otherwise, it would likely look much more like an SEO job board than an SEO discussion forum.
Thanks for your understanding, Missionunpossible. You may some luck posting on the job board at Inbound.org. We do maintain a list of Moz-recommended SEO consultants here, and wish you the best of luck in your search!
Hi Carl - Did you see Travis' thoughtful response to your question?
Hi Imran - Oh, that must be frustrating! Have you tried contacting the theme developer for support? You may also be able to get guidance in the Shopify forum, especially if you are using a more common theme.
Hi iQanti! You've received some wise advice from several long-time members of our amazing community. I just wanted to make sure you saw their thoughtful responses to your question. We'd love to get an update from you on how things are going!
Hi Thilak_geo04,
Did Thomas' response help answer your question? If so, please mark his response as a "Good Answer." And if not, we'd love an update so we can help!
Hi Rox,
We actually don't allow job postings like this in the Moz Q&A forum, as it's more appropriate for job boards like the one maintained by Inbound.org. We do maintain a list of Moz-recommended agencies here, and wish you the best of luck in your search!
Hi Massimiliano,
What type of analytics account are you having this issue with, specifically? Can you still log into the account at all? Let us know so we can help, please.
Christy
Hi Gaston, did you see Shawn's responses to your responses? Just checking...
Christy
Hi Dieter, thank you for your question. Have you made sure you are not logged into any Google accounts, cleared your cache, and adjusting your search and language settings? You can also set up a profile in MozBar for nonpersonalized search results for Google Germany.
Hi Vishal,
Are you able to share the URL of the category page you are concerned about? Is your category page ranking at all in search results?
Hi Matt - As Bernadette said, there are many, many reasons why your site could not be gaining on your competitors in the SERPs. And without specifics, it's tough to say why... but unlikely to be the URL. It's actually probably due to not just one, but several reasons. As you are at the point where you are considering something as drastic as moving your site to a new domain, it sounds like now would be a good time to invest in a comprehensive site audit.
Oh, and did you happen to read today's post on The Moz Blog? I've Optimized My Site, But I'm Still Not Ranking—Help!
UPDATE: We are able to see the staff badge when logged into your account on certain pages. Hopefully, will help fix this bug! We are not seeing any of the other issues you mentioned, though... are you still experiencing those or have they resolved? And, just to be clear, we can only see the staff badge when we log into your account. You can't see it when logged out, correct?
Thanks for the update, Kristen! And guess what? I just checked again, and can reproduce this issue when logged in as you. (I couldn't the other day.) The same goes for seeing the staff badge when logged in as Thomas. So, thanks for your understanding. We should be able to make some progress now.
Hi Thomas,
We have been unable to reproduce these bugs on our end. Have you noticed any pattern to when/where you see them? And do you recall when the last time you experienced them was? Any additional information you are able to provide would be very helpful.
Thanks!
Christy
PS - I totally agree with you that the UX when logged out could be better -- same goes for the UX when logged in. We are working on it, I assure you, and appreciate both your feedback and your patience.
Hi Kristen,
Do you mean that the staff badge was showing on some pages and not on others? Is there any kind of pattern you are seeing as to when the badge appears and when it doesn't? (For instance, does it only appear in a certain browser?) BTW, I'm not currently seeing this issue with your account. When was the last time you noticed this oddity? Thanks so much for letting us know about this! We're so sorry about
Thanks so much for letting us know about this issue! We're so sorry about it. Unfortunately, we have not turned up any clues pointing towards what could be causing this, as we cannot reproduce it on our end. (But that also means that the issue appears to have resolved itself.) Any additional details/documentation you can provide is much appreciated!
Cheers,
Christy
Hi Thomas,
I'm so sorry you are having these issues. I can imagine how frustrating this is for you. Thanks for letting us know about all of this, and for documenting all this weirdness in one place.
We are not aware of similar issues with other accounts, and do hope anyone else reading this thread will speak up if they are experiencing similar issues.
We are trying to sort out what is going on with your account. In the meantime, please do respond to this thread with any changes (such as the staff banner reappearing on your community account profile). Thanks so much for your patience!
Christy
Aww, we all knew what you meant by SERPS. It makes them sound like something very important, and well, they are. ;)In the short-term, sure, the DA of your existing site has the potential to give any pages you add to it a little boost in terms of authority, provided that the pages are easy to find (i.e., they are crawlable, not too deep in your site architecture, are linked to from important pages on the site, etc.).
Now, back to your question. In the short-term, sure, the DA of your existing site has the potential to give any pages you add to it a little boost in terms of authority, provided that the pages are easy to find (i.e., they are crawlable, not too deep in your site architecture, are linked to from important pages on the site, etc.).
BUT in the long-term, I can't really say if taking this route has the potential to harm your whole site -- as we still need more information about how you are structuring your business(es) for these two categories of cleaning services, if the new one will have its own branding or not, and how the markets for each one compare beyond both being consumer markets (including service areas -- are those different, overlapping, or the same)?
In the meantime, I'm going to grab one of my colleagues who specializes in Local SEO to see if she can you can give you any insight into how the path you go down may affect your performance in local search results.
Hi Alex, welcome to the Q&A forum -- and thanks for your kind words about our tools and blog. We're very glad they're helping you successfully rank your existing business website in the SERPs.
You refer to your mobile car detailing business as a new business. I am curious, are you actually setting it up as a business distinct from your air duct cleaning business, and will it have its own branding? And how do the markets for each one compare? (I'm guessing they are very different, with one B2B and the other B2C but I don't know what I don't know.)
Hi lettice23,
Your subscription was successfully canceled within your trial period, so you will not be charged.
Hi Nicolas,
The short answer is that we keep the first link nofollowed (instead of removing it and updating the CSS) because we need to use our development resources on higher priority projects that have greater benefit for our community at this time (and do not believe that the value of the second link is negated by virtue of the first one).
The study that you cited was conducted in 2009, right? While I tend to agree with Oleg's opinion of this particular study (and offer the same disclaimer as well as challenge), Matt Cutts, former head of webspam for Google, released this video a couple of years ago confirming that this is how anchor text used to work. As Cutts says, though the algorithm has changed a lot since then -- and has changed even more since 2014. (By the way, Moz's studies conducted around the same time that Cutts references in the video (2007-2009) confirm what Cutts says about how anchor text used to work.)
Hi Nicolas,
Thanks for your question! The first "link" goes to an "invisible" icon, which was the easiest way back in the day this code was written, err... updated to keep our code from breaking without having to mess with the CSS when adding custom URLs to this section of the user profile. If you look at the rest of the code for this section, you will see that each social profile is linked to both an icon and the profile name in the same manner, except that the social icons are not just placeholders. (That is, they are real and visible icons.) In each case, the icon link is always no-follow, and the text link is the real link, regardless of whether it is followed or no-followed.
Why link to icons at all? Well, some folks click on icons for profile links instead of the anchor text in social profiles, so it's set up that way for usability.
When a community member earns 200 MozPoints, the no-follow attribute on the link to their first custom URL is removed (that is, the real link), while the no-follow attribute to the "invisible" icon remains in place, as it is only a placeholder.
I hope that helps answer your question. Let me know!
Christy
Hi there! What browser are you using? For the time being, MozBar only works in the current version of Chrome, as explained in this forum post: <a>https://moz.com/community/q/mozbar-login-change-update-firefox-temporarily-disabled. </a>
Hi Colin,
I'm closing this thread to new comments as is quite old, and the community can continue providing feedback on your app in the new thread you've started at https://moz.com/community/q/feedback-on-our-unofficial-moz-mobile-app. Thanks for your understanding!
Christy
Hi Benu! What are you testing, exactly? Let me know if I can help.
Hi there, welcome to the Q&A forum!
We get a lot of questions about keyword density here in Q&A As a rule of thumb, I recommend using your primary keyword phrase a minimum of six times on a page -- once each in the title, page description, H1, and alt-image tags, as well as the first paragraph of body copy and URL. Other than that, use the keyword phrase whenever it naturally makes sense to do so. Writing for your audience first and foremost will result in the most natural, effective copy.
This blog post is an excellent primer on keyword targeting: A Visual Guide to Keyword Targeting. And if you search the forum for "keyword density," you'll find many discussions on this topic that look at the topic from various angles, including keyword stuffing.
I hope that helps!
Christy
Hi Thi - Is this issue resolved, or are you still getting the same notification?
Hi Cosi, welcome to the Q&A forum! As your question about Google Search Console is, as you admit, not directly related to the topic of this discussion thread, please consider posting it as in a new thread at https://moz.com/community/q/ask. (This will not only help the discussion in this thread on-topic, but will significantly increase your chances of receiving helpful responses to your question.)
Thanks so much for your understanding!
Christy
PS - I will keep an eye out for your new discussion thread.
Hi there, and welcome to the forum! Are you actually going to operate the location at 2731 Interstate St. using the new name -- or are you asking if it is a good idea to list what is essential the same business with this new name and address in order to get an addition map listing with Google My Business?
Keep in mind that your Google My Business listing(s) should mirror your business' real-world name, the one you are known to customers both online and offline (including storefront signage, your website, and all printed materials).
Hi there, are you asking why does this particular Yelp page shows rating review stars in the organic search results -- and how you can get your rating review stars to show for your Yelp page for these same queries, too -- or something else? In addition to clarifying your question, it would be great if you could share a few screenshots and/or URLs that show us how your Yelp page (and/or website) is performing for these same queries, compared with E Appliance Repair. Thanks!
Christy
In his (intentionally very short) post on Tuesday, Rand makes the case that long-form content isn't necessarily great content:
"Rather than applying a tactic like long-form content universally or setting length as the bar (or even a metric) for greatness, we instead match our content to our audience's needs and our business/personal goals. 700 more words will not help you reach your goals any more than 7 more words. Create content that helps people. Do it efficiently. Never write an ultimate guide where a single image could more powerfully convey the same value. Trust me; your audience and your bottom line will thank you."
I think this is something we all struggle with as online marketers, in one way or another. As someone who casually consumes online content on a regular basis, this also resonates with me on a personal level.
I'm curious, what are your hesitations with focusing on shorter-form content that packs a wallop, and what excites you about it? Can you think of any examples of content you've come across that you consider 10x short-form content?
Hi Justine - Thanks for the update! I'm really happy to hear you found the magical answer to your question, and appreciate you taking the time to share it with the community. I'm sure there are many other people with this same question -- and you are going to make their day with then run across this thread.
Hi Dmytro! Did Thomas' response help answer your question? If so, please mark it as a good answer. If not, please provide us with more details so we can help you sort this out. Thanks.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for your question! The fb:admins tag should include the individual Facebook user ID (fbid) for the administrator of your company's Facebook page. If you have multiple admins for your company's Facebook page, make sure that you include each admin's fbid in a separate fb:admins tag. Step-by-step instructions for doing this are available at https://developers.facebook.com/docs/platforminsights/domains.
I hope that helps!

Hi there, what a great idea! Where exactly in Tennessee are you looking to form a mastermind group? If you are looking to form a group that meets in person, you may want to consider adding the name of the geographic location where you want to meet to the title of your question.
Hi Gaston,
Thanks for your questions! In order to get the best response to each of your questions, please ask them one at a time in the forum. (This will also make it easier for folks who are looking for answers to questions similar to yours to find them when searching the forum.)
Cheers,
Christy
And could hard metrics — such as search queries, citations, traffic, and click-through rates — influence organic search rankings? Tom Coad “StickyEyes” tackles both these questions in this post for YouMoz. Take a peek at his research, and let us know how it compares to your own findings.
If you haven't done any research yourself along these lines, I'd love to hear your answers to these same questions based on your more casual observations and analysis of the brands you monitor in the SERPs.
Thanks for marking those good answers, William. I'm so glad they were helpful to you!
A new Yelper needs to leave 10-15 reviews before the filters lift? That is cray-cray! And so is everything else Phil Rozek wrote about in that post, Miriam. I'm really glad he included that cat picture near the end. I'm not a huge fan of cats, ahem, but I sure needed it by the end of that post. Whew! It's a wonder Yelp stays in businesses with those practices. Not only are they not business-friendly, they don't seem very user-friendly, period. What is the incentive for Yelpers to jump through so many hoops, I wonder... ?
Hi Simon, that is very strange! Would you kindly send an email to help@moz.com so we can see what is going on? Thanks.
Christy
Hi, did you see my initial question?
Hi William, thanks for your question! You've received some great responses. Did any help you solve your problem? If so, please mark one or both as "good answers." And if not, please give us an update on the issue you are dealing with, thanks!
Christy
The Local SEO test is at https://moz.com/blog/local-search-expert-quiz-2016. I would use it as a jumping off point for making your own test (and randomizing the questions), rather than simply having potential candidates take the Moz one.
