Recommend platform for fashion/bridal store
We currently use Bigcommerce, can anyone recommend a good platform for a bridal fashion store.
We use a lot of pictures and banners. Also looking for a platform that allows for good SEO
We are looking for an updated look particularly with a responsive format for mobile phones and ipads.

URL, page title, item name - which is most important for google ranking
We are a bridal store and are able to use different information in the URL, Page title and item name.
In item name we give the product a name for us to identify ie. Alex Lace Dress in Black/Nude, Ivory/Nude, Red/Red
In Page Title we use the suppliers name and product code as well as the item name ie. Jadore j8075 Alex Lace Dress Online Australia
URL = alex-lace-dress/
Are we using the correct format ? What could we do to improve them?

Webmaster tools search analytics - can you get current position (not average ) to show with out having to click through
We are working using Webmaster tools position, then pages. Looking at the average position to improve our page rankings.
A lot of our pages are already moving up quite well, so the average is not reflecting the current position
Is there a way we can see the current page rank rather that an average, with out having to click through each search, (position, then pages etc.) it is quite time consuming.

Google search analytics position - how is it worked out
In our Google search analytic s graphs total clicks and impressions appear as a sold line on the graph(ie showing a result for each day)
Position only shows as an occasional dot or line - not a continuous result for each day) sometimes there are days with no result for position.
How do google get these results

RE: How does Google measure page position in Webmasters?
Hi
Thanks for your answer.
The positions we are looking at are all showing in the graph for a particular product. Using the page position.
22/12 8.5
3/1 50
5/1 8
12/1 7
13/1 2
14/1 11
Can you or anyone explain why this rank varies so much day by day.

Page title contents
In my page title, I have my product name. Is it beneficial to also include another keyword like: Buy wedding dress online Australia: e..g. (page title) amelie wedding dress | buy wedding dress online Australia. Or is it better just using: Amelie wedding dress

How does Google measure page position in Webmasters?
Does anyone know exactly how Google measures page position in Webmaster Tools?
For example: In Google Webmaster Tools, we had a product which on the 22/12/15 was at position 7, and then dropped to position 112 on the 30/12/15. It then rose back up to position 7 on the 6/01/16 and then down to position 25 on the 16/01/16.
What does this mean and why?

Webmaster Tools Pages and Queries
In Google Webmaster Tools, under Search Analytics, what is the difference between positions in queries and positions in pages?
-
Search Keywords, Meta Keywords and Meta Descriptions; Keeping Webmaster Tools Current
What are Search Keywords, Meta Keywords and Meta Descriptions? What exactly is the difference between them and which one is more important?
In regards to Webmaster Tools, if we delete a page or a product, it still shows up in Search Analytics. How can we update Webmaster Tools so as to keep it current with our website?
Lastly, again in regards to Webmaster Tools, in Search Analytics. At the moment we put relevant queries into the Meta Description of low ranking pages, in order to raise the position of the page. Is this the right way to handle queries? Should we be putting the queries into the Meta Description or the Meta Keywords?

RE: Best E-Commerce Platform for Fashion Store
Hi Erick,
Thank you so much for your help, that is very useful and it works! We also want to actually have the video or GIF as the product 'image' so that when products are viewed in their category, customers can view the different colours we have available. Do you know if there is a possibility of editing the HTML code so that all products can be displayed like this?
Thank you!

Best E-Commerce Platform for Fashion Store
We run a fashion/bridal store, Fashionably Yours, and we currently use the BigCommerce e-commerce platform, however it does not allow us to implement specific features.
In particular, we would like to have GIFs in the product images to display various colours/styles, and to include videos of our products at the top of the product pages.
Could anyone advise of an alternative platform that would be ideal for a fashion/bridal store and that would allow us to implement these features?
Thank you.

RE: How To: Image Transition Effect on Website
Hi Kristen,
Thank you so much for your help. Our website is run on BigCommerce - do you have specific advice regarding this platform?
-
How To: Image Transition Effect on Website
What program would allow an image transition effect where product images when viewed on our website change to alternative angles/shots of the same product when the cursor is on the image? This is a common transition effect of websites such as http://studiominc.com.au/collections/pyramids.
Please let us know if you have used programs like these and how to implement this into our website.
Thank you!

The Benefit of Internal Backwards Links in Product Descriptions
We want to work out if it is beneficial to use links pointing back to categories (higher up in the structure) on our website product pages.
For example, our Aria Dress by Jadore is found through the path: Home > Bridesmaid > Full Length Bridesmaids Dresses > Aria Dress
In the product description for the Aria Dress, is it beneficial to include internal links pointing back to higher branches in the website structure .e.g. the Full Length Bridesmaids Dresses category page, the Bridesmaid category page, as well as linking back to the 'Jadore' page? Will doing this for every dress (linking back to category page), improve the SEO of these category pages?
How many internal links is too many to include on any given product description?
Is it more important to ensure a direct link to every single webpage so that they can be reached by Google, or to include links in both directions .i.e. from Home > Product Category > Product, as well as from Product > Product Category?
Thank you.

How much can our page title, URL and alt-tag differ without negatively affecting SEO?
We are a bridal store selling wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses. We are wanting to know how much our URL and page title can differ, whilst still optimising SEO.
For example, for the category Wedding Dresses, the URL contains wedding dresses, so can we use " the best wedding dresses in Sydney" in the page title?
For the bridesmaid dresses (URL is /bridesmaiddresses/) can we use " buy best bridesmaid dresses online in Australia"?
Can we use terms such as "buy best black dress in sydney", "buy online in australia" or "shop online in sydney" in the alt-tag, additional from the page title .i.e. adding extra keywords in the alt-tag that do not appear in the title? Would this be classified as keyword stuffing?
In our main categories .e.g. Wedding Dresses, can we add "best wedding dress store", "buy wedding dresses from best wedding store in sydney" in the alt-tag?
Thank you.

RE: SEO benefits of terms used in Alt-tag, image name, page title
Dear Dmitrii,
Thank you so much for your reply. It is very helpful.

For the bridesmaid dresses (URL is /bridesmaiddresses/) can we use " buy best bridesmaid dresses online in Australia"?
Can we use terms such as "buy best black dress in sydney", "buy online in australia" or "shop online in sydney" in the alt-tag, apart from the page title .i.e. adding extra keywords in the alt-tag that do not appear in the title? Would this be classified as keyword stuffing?
In our main categories .e.g. Wedding Dresses, can we add "best wedding dress store", "buy wedding dresses from best wedding store in sydney" in the alt-tag?

SEO benefits of terms used in Alt-tag, image name, page title
On our website, we have products that come in different colours, and we have created a different SKU for each one .e.g. our Acacia Evening Dress comes in 3 different colours (black, blue and red) - Acacia Evening Dress Black (J7048BLK), Acacia Evening Dress Blue (J7048RB), Acacia Evening Dress Red (J7048R).
Would it be beneficial for SEO if on the image Alt-tag we used the terms 'Jadore J7048 Red Acacia dress', 'Jadore J7048 Black Acacia dress' and 'Jadore J7048 Blue Acacia dress', because 'Acacia' is the internal name we have given to this dress, not the name provided by the label, Jadore, as more customers would search for terms such as 'black dress' or 'Jadore J7048'? Can we use the same terms in the Alt-tag on the image and the page title? How important is the Alt-tag in searching?

We use SLI for our searches and are thinking of just going back to the searches on our platfrom Bigcommerce
Does anyone have any experience with the advantages of using a search product like SLI in comparison to the search available on Bigcommerce.
We currently use SLI for the searches on our site but think over the years we have been using SLI that the searches on Bigcommerce have improved and we are thinking of switching back to using the Bigcommerce search.

RE: Our web site lost ranking on google a couple of years ago. We have done lots of work on it but still can not improve our search ranking. Can anyone give us some advise
Hi Alan,
Once again thanks for the advise. It makes a lot of sense when I add it to the information I have worked out while trying to improve our site. Also a lot of these menus etc. were added about the time the rankings dropped.
Just a question. I have removed a lot of the unnessary links on the bottom of the pages.
The way our platform works, we have a home page - which I have removed the right side menus and left side.
On the product page we have removed the right side menus etc. also a lot of the left side - just leaving the wish list.
On the category page - we are wondering whether we should also remove the right side menus ?

Hi Jason,
Thanks for your response. As far as I know we have no warnings in webmaster tools. I am not sure how to tell which links are damaging. Some have been removed.
We lost about 50% of traffic organic traffic. Our site dropped from 1st page to 3-10 page.

We have set up our H1 to contain the product name - it used to be our Company name all the time - would this affect our sales
We noticed recently on our site - that our H1 tag was the Company Name - we changed this to be the product name - our products would be searched for by all or part of the description.
Our sales have dropped of the days since we changed it, could it be a result of this change ?
Is it best to have the H1 tag as the product name ?

RE: Can you have 2 different websites on 1 webmaster tools account
Hi Matt,
The error is URL website not claimed. It was working perfectly for week. Then a couple of days after we got the lost claim to site message we also got the feed error.
What I can not work out is why we keep getting the URL website not claimed errors when we are not aware of changing anything.

RE: Can you have 2 different websites on 1 webmaster tools account
Hi
Thanks for your help.
Twice first about 2 months ago and then last week, we started receiving messages that you have just lost your website URL claim in your Google Merchant Center account "
I have re verified each time by inserting the code on our site.
This week our goole feed also received "3,453 items processed
Shopping: 0 / 3,453"I am not sure what is happening
