RE: What to do with keyword specific domains
Hmmm.... Both responses were what I was thinking. It may be useful in certain circumstances, not in others. With the size of my site and the competitiveness of the words, I think I'll continue to simply forward them to my main site and not create micro-sites. I don't have enough content to that.
Thanks for the help Marie and Robert!

What to do with keyword specific domains
I have a few domain names with the keywords I'm trying to target for my website. My website currently has been in operations for a couple years, and while not hugely authoritative, has built some value.
Now, are these domain names with keywords any use to me? Is there any point to forward them to my site? Do I try to build up a page (or a few of content) and then have a link to my main site?
Any insight would be mucho appreciated!
Thanks!

RE: Switching Domain Names
Thank you all for the swift and informative responses.
This put this issue to rest, going to stick with the full URL, http://www.smallbusinessdoer.com. I already have the smallbizdoer.com and smallbizdoer.ca URL's 301 forwarding to http://www.smallbusinessdoer.com.

Switching Domain Names
I own two domain names, smallbusinessdoer.com and smallbizdoer.com.
I set up my site at smallbusinessdoer.com. Initially I wanted to keep the full "business" in the domain name as I thought it would be good for SEO.
I'm now thinking it would be a lot better to have a shorter domain and I do own the smallbizdoer.com domain (which is currently forwarding to smallbusinessdoer.com).
If I flip that around, forward smallbusinessdoer.com with a 301 redirect to smallbizdoer.com, what are the implications?
- How long will I lose link juice with the 301 redirects?
- Does shortening business to biz help for URL length or usability?
Thanks for any input!

RE: SEOmoz toolbar log in chrome wonky!
This was fixed by the SEOmoz team by the way. It was caused by a change in my email address.

RE: Do you validate you websites?
It depends on the project. I find that it is sometimes plugins that make my code not validate. If the plugin is so useful and that site renders fine in all the major browsers, I stick with the what I have, even if it doesn't validate.

Backlinks from embeded Wistia video?
If I use Wistia for my videos, and somebody embeds my video on their site, can I get a backlink from this?

Feedproxy Redirects - Do they pass link juice?
I use commentluv and all the links to my site when I leave a comment go through feedburner so that my URL's look like http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/SmallBusinessDoer/~3/yYrCkjbWq_4/
I used HttpFox in Firefox to see what was happening and it looks like a 301. I wanted to make sure that this is indeed passing link juice.
Thanks!

RE: SEOmoz toolbar log in chrome wonky!
Thanks for the reply Jennifer,
I did check the third-party cookies and I had my Chrome set to allow cookies by default, the "Allow local data to be set" option.
The firefox link was broken, but I did check my Firefox and I have third-party cookies enabled as well.

SEOmoz toolbar log in chrome wonky!
In Chrome, I'll start off not logged in to the toolbar.
- I'll click log in which forwards me to the SEOmoz login page.
- I'll login.
- Sometimes the toolbar will reflect this login and the metrics will poplulate in the PA and DA, other times it won't.
- If I navigate to another page within the same tab, it may show metrics still, but it is also just as likely to show that I'm not logged in.
- If I open a new tab, the toolbar will show that I'm not logged in. I click the log in again but when directed to SEOmoz, it'll show that I'm already logged in.
I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly when it'll work and when it won't. Seems a bit random, so am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and has been able to solve this logged in / not logged in problem.
As a note, anytime I navigate back to the SEOmoz site, whether by opening a new tab or a new window, the SEOmoz site does show I'm logged in, while the toolbar shows I'm not. You can see a demonstration of the simultaneous logged in SEOmoz site and logged out SEOmoz toolbar in the attached screen shot.
UPDATE
Also having similar issues in firefox. Am wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that I changed my email address within the past few weeks.

RE: Post Title - Use the blog's name or not?
Right, the most important keywords are the first one's on the left. If you feel it best to add a title, do it, but it will be slightly better Search Eninge Ranking wise to omit the title.

RE: Post Title - Use the blog's name or not?
The site's name is Small Business Doer, and I'm targeting small businesses, so in a way yes.
That's a good point about wht makes someone click on a link, and a good brand name can help is what you're suggesting, as it seems more legit.
What I'm specifically wondering, is how big of an impact will a title with say a phrase comprised of 3 keywords be vs. that same phrase with the site titel appended to the end (which is another three keywords).
Will it make much of a difference in the search rankings by removing the site name from the end?

RE: Post Title - Use the blog's name or not?
Thanks for the quick response. It's funny because I just disabled the All in one SEO Plugin default that appends my site title to the end of my posts.
So, you're saying that the branding outweighs the extra three words on a post?

Post Title - Use the blog's name or not?
In the tile of my post, shoudl I used my blog's name in it at the end or emit the blog name.
EX: title of post with keywords | name of blog
OR
EX: title of post with keywords
The site's name is 3 words long, so I'm worrying that those extra words are diluting the keywords in the post's name that I'm trying to target.
