In rest, as in term of SEO, I believe that less important now.

Hi Atul,
Do you have a thank you page after subscribing? if so, then you can track it with google analytics.
Set up a goal in GA: Decide one of the three types of goals you want. This can be URL Destination, Time on Site, or Pages/Visit. You will need the URL destination. just enter the Thank You page's URL and it is set up.
That should be the scenario.

useful video step-by-step: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no9LuXnmLao
Hi Gareth,
There is a very good article about this @Google: https://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=83105
You can check that.
I hope it will help,
Istvan
Ah, sorry. Miss-understood the question then.
Hi Rene,
The first impression after reading your question is that I meat the same situation as on faceted navigation.
Still this is something different. My advice would be to put the rel=canonical on and get rid of duplicate content. This way you will have one default image, then the visitor can choose what they need (and you just reload the image).
Writing all the hundreds of thousands of unique texts wouldn't be the solution I believe. Still you can use some parameters in the "facets" such as a #color so if people would like to share this content with their friends they can distribute a visitor friendly URL. That would be my choice.
I hope that helped,
Istvan
Hi Jaz,
Although it is not a cheap service, but it is one of the best analytics for videos: http://wistia.com/
you can check how it works on: http://wistia.com/product/tracking
Wistia is used by seoMoz also.
I hope that helped,

Hi Dave,
I can't give you a top 10 list, since there are a lot of factors that are very important.
But you can check for a very good list here: http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors
I hope that will help,
Istvan
As far as I know, Rogerbot crawls from US (but you can ask this from Helpdesk guys, they will probably give you the details).
Checking rankings for Google.co.uk from two different countries may lead you to gain the SERPs from two different databases. -> Different results. This might be happening in your case too.
Please correct me if I am wrong,
Istvan
Hi Anthony,
Are you checking with personalised search maybe?
Another thing could happen is that RogerBot (seoMoz) and you are connecting to two different databases and gaining two different rankings as the result of different search filters Google is testing on the databases.
I hope that helped,
Istvan
Hi Alessio,
Regarding gaining a lot of links (from agencies or from softwares) I am always getting back to the same idea:
Do you think the software or the link builder (which is payed 4$ for 100 links.... and no kidding I have heard even rougher payments in that industry) does respond on the following questions?
I believe that we, as online marketers we should focus for the idea of gaining more trust from both visitors(HUMANS) and Search engines(ROBOTS).
Now gaining a lot of low quality links will not harm Humans (at least not directly) but may harm robots reputation. I think you should ask yourself: Do I really want that?
I hope that helped,
Istvan
Annoying it is... But still, all of us can make mistakes, and although the ideal would be to learn from others mistakes, we still take our owns.
I just hope you will find "the seo agency" you need for your campaign.
Still test-test-test and if I forgot something from that list is.... Test them before signing for long term.
Istvan
Totally agree. Many clients aspect to gain a lot of links without contributing with content that is really good enough to gain links to.
And if you ask for a better content, then they will just announce that your job is to get links and not to change the content they have (that happened a few times with me, and I really didn't enjoy that).
As fair as I know, there is no other equivalent of this value. You should wait 1-2 days, usually big G is fast at checking the sitemaps and showing up some relevant data.
Also you can now test your sitemap data with the GWT so it will benefit from more than 1 part your work if you submit your sitemaps.
Cheers!
Istvan
Hi Gareth,
If you want to check the number of indexed pages in Google then go to:
site configuration -> sitemaps
There you will have URLs submitted and URLs in web index.
I hope that helped,
Istvan
Hey Catfish,
Today I have a full scheduled day, but tomorrow I can take a look what is happening over them. We'll keep in touch.
Istvan
Hi Catfish,
The thing with the number of links is that usually having a lot of links on one site can devalue the "juice" that the article pages get from the fact that you are linking to them. I am always trying to keep the number of links on one page below 50 if that is possible, since then we target our audience better to targeted pages (and it is less confusing for the visitors).
I hope that helped,
Istvan
Hi Peter,
Regarding agencies that are only working with link building I have terrible experience. I prefer to do link building with in-house people. This was it is a way easier to check what they are doing and how they acquire the links.
The problem with link building agencies is that they usually don't work on the quantity vs. quality . And although quantity is important, but quality is 1000x more important for me.
There are several SEO agencies that will tell you they will get x number of PRX links. The question is: how will those links affect your visitors? I am always trying to gain links that are win-win situations for both me and the "potential link partner", answering questions such as:
I have left robots for the last position since I believe we should add less value to this and give more importance to visitors.
But this is one personal opinion, this is how I try to "make the web a better place".
I hope that helped,
Istvan
Hey Martijn,
Thank you for the help.
Since I am not an "expert in the field" I wanted to have my back from you guys.
Thanks again.
Istvan
Hey Mozzers,
I have a question regarding Google Analytics.
The problem: I have created advanced segments for Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc. They all work fine... Now I am trying to create something similar for Google+ (since soon we are launching a campaign for it and I want to be able to check the evolution fast and effective).
My advanced segments look like:
Include -> Source -> Matching RegExp -> (Facebook|Youtube|Twitter)
How should the Google+ be inserted into the group?
I know this question might be easy for some advanced Analytics users but I am stuck at this point. Any help appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Istvan
Hi there,
I would go for redirect. or canonicalization (just put a canonical in the header to the URL which is more popular both in links and rankings).
This way you will have no duplicate content issue and better link juice targeting for one of the pages.
I hope that helped,
Istvan
Hi Kenneth,
Note: it is less important to have the major keywords in the menu....
Think about long tail keywords: if they were all in menu (such as: vacation-houses on the beach) then we would need all the screen only for menu.
Think about targeting the text more closely to the targeted keyword, think about if they seek for cheap car rentals, when they end up on your landing page, does it really provide the right information for them? After you optimize your text and deliver the products on this landing page you are half way done with the optimizing.
Don't try to stuff the text with keywords, use synonyms, make it more readable, provide information.
I believe that the menu name does not influence as much as the content on the specific page; so my advice: work on content more, and worry less on the menu name (that should be used for users and not robots).
I hope that helped,
Istvan
I am glad I could help!
As a personal opinion I would go for having the content in top. I know that is an old issue, and I might not be updated regarding this matter... BUT there was a time when indeed it really helped to have your optimized content in top.
There is a guide in Google help central which tells the steps to move a site.
http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=83105
Maybe you forgot to change the address in Google Webmasters Tools?
Hope that helped,
Istvan
From my experience, if the content is well written and it adds value for users you will only benefit from it.
This way you will have Unique, descriptive text on the product search page and it makes easier to optimize for.
Hope that helped,
Istvan
All your campaigns are going to be crawled on weekly basis and you will get an email from the seoMoz team, when the crawl is finished.
You will find additional information on: http://seomoz.zendesk.com/home
The Zendesk provides all the information.
Sorry for not posting direct links to pro webinars, but you will find some great info on how to use your pro membership over there.
Greetings,
Istvan
You can always use the tool from: http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/on-page-keyword-optimization/new
I hope that helped,
Istvan
I have experienced big fluctuations in Google.be.
Don't worry to much regarding this issue, try to produce higher relevant content, and it will solve the situation (that is what happened with us).
I hope that hepled,
Istvan
I totally agree with James!
If you are buying that domain name, then with a small effort you can get it "rank well" (it depends on niche).
Istvan
Hey,
A cost effective plan would be adding an /fr/ sub-folder and target that folder to France. But if I had one possible way to build up a new website on .fr ccTLD I would go for that.
That is my pick.
I hope it helped,
Istvan
Hi Dean,
Heather is right! you should access the websites through FTP. Also if there are databases then you should be able to export the data from the software that is managing it.
Istvan
Hi hfranz,
Kaushik Avinash is teaching on: http://www.marketmotive.com/
But you can learn a lot if you read the articles on http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo too.
Also the whiteboard friday videos (and lately the whiteboard+ videos) provide a lot of information regarding advanced SEO and a lot of online marketing issues you can meet in the world of SEO.
L.E.: The Whiteboard+ video can be found on: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/why-every-marketer-now-needs-a-google-strategy
Have fun reading and learning!
Istvan
Hi Atul Sharma,
If you have a Google+ account, Go check the seoMoz Google+ account. Rand published a great Whiteboard+ there on 14th. You will find your answer in that video.
I hope it helped,
Istvan
Hey Ash,
If you use a canonical in the index.html, then when you load example.com or example.com/ or etc. etc. versions you basically load the index.html (in which there is configured the canonical link).
My developer usually makes a 301 redirect from non-www. to www. and we implement to canonical link into index.html and that is it
I hope it helped,
Istvan
Hey Miranda,
I would go for one of the following:
1. usage of canonicals (link rel canonical to domain.com/jobs-in-london/)
2. the dev team could use cookies to keep trackings (I am not a developer guy, but this issue has been solved many times with cookies) - Developers please correct me if I am wrong in this.
I hope it hepled,
Istvan
Hey Explainafide,
I don't believe you can have access to their data without proper agreements from their part.
If you would have access, then you can check any of your competitors full Analytics information that way.
My advice: talk to your client. Tell him how important is in your work to have access to the GA. What you can improve with it, how you will use it. Also if he is skeptical, than go for a confidential agreement with them.
Good luck!
Istvan
You should then open a ticket in the help desk. seoMoz staff will pick it up from there.
Sorry that is all I can do for you guys. Good luck with resolving the issue!
Istvan
Hey,
Did you check some rankings manually? are the reports showing up good information?
Istvan
Hi Pedro,
You will find your answer in this article: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/canonical-url-tag-the-most-important-advancement-in-seo-practices-since-sitemaps
I hope it helped,
Istvan
just edit your post. from next time you should use URL shortener
To bad there is no place where we could brainstorm live (without being cached :P)
L.E.: seoMozzers we need a chit-chat place
YW!
I am glad i could deliver something valuable For further question contact me via PM and will help you out. Done some similar projects in the last few months.
Istvan
Hi Ade,
When targeting two very different countries then I would go for two separate websites, just as you have mentioned.
Also I would go for country specific TLDs which will help you in targeting the local markets easier. Build up country specific link partnerships, do some local SEO.
If going for only one domain you could go for a domain with different subfolders/subdomains which you geo-target for the specific countries.
If you are going for the second option, maybe you would like to check this whiteboard friday: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/international-seo-where-to-host-and-how-to-target-whiteboard-friday
I hope it helped,
Istvan
Hi Rusty,
Usually when I am seeking for the entrance keywords I am checking on Google Analytics. It gives me a better retrospective. But that doesn't mean you cannot do that with seoMoz.
Still on GA sometimes I have found some quite interesting data to work with.
Istvan
I would say... Best Answer!
Great job Robert
Well,
You can have a website architecture like:
domain.com/productnamespecifickeyword.html - okay you will need to optimize that one
and then target productnamespecifickeyword.html with links which have productnamespecifickeyword as anchor text
I hope that hepled,
Istvan
Hi Hitesh,
I would go for one domain.
Creating a lot of mini-sites maybe will help you in short term... BUT if you are going for long term, then you should focus on creating a larger websites. Focus on creating 1 page for each product and target it to the specific page.
With less effort you can benefit of link building for one domain. Don't forget to do a keyword mapping.
I hope it hepled,
Istvan
The method you are describing is not one-way, it is three way link exchange.
A -> B -> C
As fair as I know one way link exchanges are A -> B. Correct me please if I am wrong.
Istvan
Hi Rodney,
The best... Well I would say to use dedicated ccTLD for each of the target zones.
Still, if you want to go for one domain, then I would go for sub-folders (this is how we geo-target).
As fair as I know, using sub-domains is less stronger from SEO point of view, you can transfer more "juice" to sub-folders than to sub-domains.
I hope it helped,
Istvan
