  • Hi guys, Is this technique considered as Black hat SEO and will you get penalized by google for hiding elements from the user? Thanks, Dan

  • Hey guyz,
I know this "" operator to force the search results to include show the results what includes inside the operator exactly the same.
But when I do some google searches, some times google doesn't show the exact match what I wrote in the quote. Like this https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q="rfid+çözümleri+şuan" I'm waiting for your replies,
    Thank you guyz.

  • I suppose this is somewhat of a stretch for SEO, but probably still falls under the Search Marketing umbrella. My ecommerce site issues a specific phone number to the user based on the referral path they used to get to the site (i.e. Our print media will have #A printed on it, while users that find the site via Organic Google Search will see #B, and etc... for other referral paths). Recently, we've seen a fairly significant dip in phone calls via the Organic Google Search telephone number. We've tried troubleshooting the issue and there doesn't appear to be a programming issue and our sales numbers do not reflect the change in call traffic.  However, we have noticed that when visiting our website via encrypted.google.com, our default web number is being displayed, rather than the intended Organic Google Search telephone number.  Do people still use encrypted.google.com? The dip in the phone traffic began in February and had continued to drop through April.  Has anyone seen anything similar or possibly dealt with a similar issue that you can offer some insight on?  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • We're redesigning our agency website and during development we noticed our current design doesn't feature a mock up for a search bar. It was a simple oversight, but it got me thinking how valuable it really is. I noticed the Moz blog doesn't have a search bar (unless I'm blind) and was wondering who else has made the decision to get rid of it. We have a blog of almost 400 posts over the course of three years, unsure if that sways the decision in either direction. Is it better to just focus on good SEO instead of relying on a search bar nowadays? Opinions appreciated!

  • I would like to see what is the consensus here about this stuff as virtually any automated service, be it yext or yahoo, will use one description text and use it for every available listing in their ecosystem. In general what is your take on varying this business description text? of course, I would personally put a safer bet on avoiding any duplicate text between listings and the domain of the business in any case. but my questions is more between listing vs listing. THIS IS BAD - WHY? THIS HAS NO IMPORTANCE WHATSOEVER - WHY NOT? and in conclusion and hindsight, would one need to watch out for duplicate content across non-domain assets used by the business so long as none of the content is duplicated from the business domain? I tried my best googling this, but did not find a straight answer anywhere. I would really appreciate some experienced and insightful comments on this one 🙂

  • The task is to find out which banner on my site provides more installations of the game. The banners' urls link directly (refferal source in the url is specified) to the game page on https://play.google.com. Google Analytics and Google Play are connected but I've faced the problem that Google Analytics counts only visitors who install app via Google Play app so visitors from the banners to play.google.com aren't counted at all. That's the question, is there any way to count visitors to the app page on play.google.com and to count the number of installations by these visitors ?

  • Hi guys, I'm facing this problem with some websites that I'm trying to optimize for the search engines. I've worked on a good SEO on Page and I've had not so many difficulties to get good ranking results on Google. The problem is that I'm not having any result with Yahoo and Bing, even if I've sent the sitemap to the Bing Webmaster Toll and I'm keeping under control the possible crawling errors both on Google and Bing Webmaster Tool. Can someone please help me with an explanation?

  • We have two sites. One site for US (site.com)and another is for India(site.co.in). Redirection is working based on ip address and location. So if I write US(site.com) site link in India location then it will automatically redirect to India site(site.co.in). We have given a link in the header of the site which will be used to open another country site. Example : Currently India site open in my browser so it contain US site link. and US site open in my browser so it contain India site link. We check on google web master and we found back links of cross domains so Is it an issue?

  • We are working on job portal domain. As we know jobs going to be expired day by day. I will give you my question by example. Example: I have two links [mysite.com/Jobs-In-Cincinnati and mysite.com/Jobs-In-Atlanta]. Before month I had too many jobs on both the links. Jobs were expired one by one after two/three months I don't have any jobs on both the links. So I got same page content on both the links like "please refine search". Google consider these two pages as duplicate content issue. Will you please suggest which is the best way to come out from it? Thanks in advance.

  • Can anyone recommend any companies, tools or products to monitor and suggest best practices for submitting products to retailer search engines (Amazon for example). We are looking for something that will continually monitor a products performance, and pick up on any changes, such as if the retailer changes their search algorithm. Thank you in advance.

  • Hi Moz community! I have a client who have been rejected for inclusion in Google's news results. This is their web site: www.irishracing.com they are not a gambling/gaming web site, but they do advertise gambling on the site, and I am thinking that this may be an issue for them. We asked Google and obviously got a generic 'see our guidelines' response, with no actual specific feedback. Any ideas anyone? Kind regards. Gavin

  • I recently received a Network Solutions spam/offer email regarding their internet marketing packages.  One of the "benefits" they cited was that they submit your information to local search/citation sites once a month, to keep it up-to-date. I don't know about you guys, but my clients' information isn't changing on a frequent basis.  I remember when it used to be a tactic to submit regularly to the same citation sites, but that seems like overkill now.  Does anyone still do this, or is NS just trying to make their product sound good?  Do we need to update citation sites frequently, or is it enough to update when there are actual changes to make?

  • Does anybody know if Search volume insight in Bing is more accurate than it is in Google?
Moz is showing Search Volume insight in Bing now (not sure about the reason, probably Moz has no access to Google? Or is it because it is more accurate?)
For some words I have my doubts about the Google Keyword Tool. I don't know about Bing.
For the first time I compare two words on Bing with Google I found out the ratio in Bing is very different compared with Google. Example:
When you check out the words: espressomachine and koffiemachine
**Google, local search in the Netherlands: **
    espressomachine: 6600
    koffiemachine: 8100
Bing, local search in the Netherlands:
    espressomachine: 549
koffiemachine: 361 So..., are Bing users typical kind of users who uses other search phrases?
Or... is one of these two more accurate? Does anybody know?

  • Well, maybe that isn't the best way to word this questions as I am sure it varies by topic but generally speaking what is the consensus on forums, are they worth continued development? As part of several sites our team manages we have seen our forum traffic slowly die out in recent years. Last year we did a redesign and simplified things for better user experience and we have seen a bump in traffic this year but that has not translated into conversions. As more blogs, social media sites, etc. continue to gain in popularity it seems as though forums are starting to fall back a little. Would love to hear your opinions though.

  • Starting last week, our site had a HUGE spike in referral traffic from: search.dnsassist.verizon.net. We have never had a visit from there until last week, and had 12K visits last week so something is happening. The traffic does look normal though, all visits were in the US from 700 cities and pages/visit, avg visit duration and bounce rate are close to site average. There is a few other referral sites that showed up last week as well: wind.search-help.net,  uslc.search-help.net, finder.cox.net. All of these sites are low, around 30 to 50 visits a day, but we had not any referrals until last week. I did notice most of these sites state "Explore with Yahoo Search." Just wondering if anyone has every seen this before and wondering what is happening. Thanks for reading. <colgroup><col width="207"></colgroup>

  • Are there any stats on the volume of searches through Google's Image Search?  My assumption is that more users are turning to image search to shop but I haven't found any supporting data.  I know that click-throughs to site have fallen after Google's recent changes to the UI but still just interested in initial search volume.

  • My fellow Mozzers, I have been reviewing our Google Webmaster error reports and noticed high url errors. These URLs are generated from international sites, mainly China. Upon further inspection, these look to be links to dynamic URLs that are no longer active on our site. (search pages) China is linking to old URLs that simply spew out a 'Bad Request' pages now. Problems I face is that: I can't contact these chinese sites to remove/edit the URLs. I could work with my developers to identify the urls and direct them all to the homepage, but is that good. The URLs are still present. Some of these look like pages that haven't been updated in a while, so now I have links from sites that are archived, or "dead" Have you tackled anything like this before? Thoughts are welcome Thanks

  • I know many of you may see this as cheating but I've been given a Adchoice budget so I'm going to make the most of it! One problem... where do I begin?
Adwords doesn't seem to have any information about Adchoice and Adsense, as far as I can see, is placing adverts on my site which is not what I want.

  • We rolled out a new site for a customer on an old (branded) domain (14 years old) about 3 weeks ago, and we are doing very, very well in Google for 40+ keywords, but we can't make a dent in Bing. Absolutely nothing. We are using the Webmaster tools for both. Are we missing something? Are we not using the Bing Webmaster tools correctly?

  • I have been approached by a website (domain authority 65, homepage authority 70, linking domains 415) that syndicates other website's content. They are keen to promote one of my existing articles on their website and are in a similar subject niche . My immediate reaction was "No", as I am keen to avoid any negative impact on our SEO-efforts that may be created through having my content duplicated on another website. I am just looking from the feedback from the rest of the community as to what their thoughts are - does the potential benefit of driving visitors from a popular website outweigh the fact that our own article may not rank very well organically as it has been duplicated. I think the fact that we have been approached regarding the syndication suggests that the website in question is not a spammy "scraper" website that activity looks to employ black hat techniques, but I don't want to risk effecting my organic SERP ranking. Thoughts?

  • I am looking for a software to track all keywords my website is ranking for. I am aware that SEMrush can accomplish this, but as I am paying for mOz already, I was looking for something less expensive. mOz has a feature to track keywords that drive traffic to your website by linking it to your google analytics, but I want to find more than that...I want EVERYTHING. Does anyone know/use this kind of software *Please comment with specific programs/software/tools in your response. I need real suggestions. I'm not looking for the Matt Cutts "cookie cutter" answer (like what I did there?) like "you should search your analytics for words you're already ranking for". Thanks!

  • I was reading this article http://adwords.blogspot.de/2013/05/introducing-keyword-planner-combining.html that says that Google is going to be sunsetting it's popular keyword tool.  As an SEO specialist, I use this tool daily, so I'm concerned about it's impact on my keyword research efforts. I reviewed the keyword planner (albeit quite quickly) and it doesn't seem to work as efficiently for SEO keyword research.  I'm curious to get others thoughts on the following: The new keyword planner tool Will the new keyword planner tool be effective for SEO keyword research Are there other tools that you've used that have provided good keyword research data (and are they free or paid)

  • Our brands deal quite a lot with a complaints site that the public may post a complaint and then our clients respond - if the response is the answer the complainer was looking for, they can convert the complaint into a compliment however this is 80% not the case. Hence would including a link back to the clients site from a complaints website have any negative effect or can we turn a negative into a marketing opportunity?

We are trying to do this: Estimate the keyword volume with AdWords Make a search with that keywords and filter by Authority domain (SEOmoz bar extension) Manually select the portals (copy-paste in a spreadsheet) What about Twitter and Facebook? • Hi all, Has anyone noticed that achieving an appearance in the Universal Results (7 box) forced their previous organic ranking to drop out completely for that keyword? I thought Google would still show us in Universal AND Organic. Is this typical? Here's what happened: Last Week: Ranked no. 6 in standard organic results for specific keyword (but 7 box universal results appear ahead of us between position 3 and 4 and we're not listed) This Week: We added ourselves to Google Places a few weeks ago and this week we suddenly appear in the desirable 7 box Universal result, which is much higher and better ranking - great!  But interestingly we notice at the same time our normal organic ranking at no.6 has dropped out completely (-50 in moztool). Is it an either/or for Organic vs. Universal or can you ever keep ranking in both?

  • Following an SEOMoz webinar the other day, where the presenter made a case of eliminating folders in URLs, as these could confuse a bot when crawling a site. I love the idea. However, there are still a lot of Best Practices and guidelines out there that will suggest there should be a logic in the URL, just as there should be in your Navigation. My question in that regard is whether or not there is any value for a bot to crawl a website URL that follows the navigation by "stuffing" the URL with folders, identical to the navigation present on the site, and even a secondary navigation present on all pages? Example: the navigation of a site goes [Domain > Folder > Sub folder > Sub-sub folder > product]. What is the benefit of using a URL such as [www.domain.com/folder/sub-folder/sub-sub-folder/product] vs [www.domain.com/product] Thank you guys for your insights! PS this is a WP site we are talking about.

  • I tried spider simulator and it is showing a strange order the spider follows http://www.example.com/giftcertificates.php
    http://www.example.com/satisfaction-guaranteed/
http://www.example.com/ Is this accurate? I ran a test on several sites and the majority showed www.examplesite.com as the first crawled I would hate to think that the engines are putting more emphasis on my gift certificates than my homepage. I read the post on here that the homepage should be first.

  • Hello all. This is my first post to seomoz.
A large News Media Group has a News Vortal and 3 magazines (for kids, health, fashion)
All those different mediums have their content in independant websites (since the branding of all 5 Medium is very strong).
My question is how to croslink them editorially for seo purposes?
Is it ok if i put a news box at every magazine site?
Should i create links to news articles or to news categories or both?
Do links from unrelated sites dilute your rankings for your key phrases ? Thanks in advance

  • I have a brand new domain, 2 months old, and am just finishing design.  What are realistic goals for the 1rst year in local search results? My competition appears to be the local directories.   Manta, yellowpages, angieslist, BBB and so on.   Is it realistic to expect to eventually outrank them for the local search terms?  (City Service Keyword)  If so, what is a realistic time frame for someone putting in 10 to 15 hours a week on SEO, Including content creation. This was the humbling report I just ran.  Looks like my choices are to beat them or pay them excessive amounts of money. http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/keyword-difficulty/results.html?commit=Run+Report&date=2013-02-19&engine_id=96&keywords=Lakeville+snow+plowing&utf8=✓

  • Hi i currently have duplicate Google places listings for a store. One of the Google Places listings is mine (which is correct) and the other is a listing which someone else put up (which is wrong). Which is currently sending customers to the wrong location. I tried to claim the listing by clicking: If you own this place, claim it and edit it directly Which takes me to this page: This Listing Is Unavailable You may only access listings that you own. If you created this listing with a different Google Account, please log in to that account and try again. If you've deleted this listing, you may create it again in Google Places. Is my own option at this stage to leave a comment with additional details use: IMAGE ATTACHED And select 'this is a duplicate listing'? I would imagine this would take sometime, and i need it changed as soon as possible. Any suggestions? screenshot_133.jpg
