Does anyone have any experience with using Altruik for optimizing a retail site?
-
Greetings - can anyone offer an opinion on the services of http://www.Altruik.com/? They claim to be able to effectively optimize the deep pages of online retailers.
I welcome any and all feedback!

These guys do what they claim! We've seen a significant boost in organic traffic since we started using them 5 months ago.

Hi,
Hamlet here from Altruik to clarify what we do and apologize for mess on our website right now (stay tuned for a full redesign in the next week or so).
We focus on automating the aspects of SEO that can be automated in a white hat way. For example, many of our clients face site architecture challenges due to their CMS. Technical problems like duplicate content, stale content and missing titles and descriptions are relatively easy for a computer (with the right software) to solve.
Our company, product and team has changed over the last year or so. I joined last year, but the best judges of our value are our existing clients. We don't just provide them with SEO knowledge, but with actual implementation and, most importantly, tangible results. Please give us a call and we can put you in touch with any of our clients (646 374 0160).
Cheers,
Hamlet
PS. Here is a post a wrote a while ago about automating SEO. It should clarify my perspective on the subject.

It's looking like a lot of the content was removed from their site in the past couple of days (it shows up in Google cache but not on the site itself) so it's kinda hard to judge. Looks like at one point they were doing copies of your content on a subdomain. This is two years old, but here's a Q&A question that gives some details about what they did two years ago (so take it with a grain of salt, but was hard to find more current information). http://www.seomoz.org/qa/view/23547/altruikcom-automating-the-process-of-search-engine-visibility

To be honest automated SEO is never going to work with off site elements, you can never beat networking and picking up the phone to complete link building on high authority websites.

IMG TITLE no longer used in Wordpress?
Err, when did this happen? Although you can still enter a Title in the WP image library, when inserting into a post the Title tag is not implemented. Alt text is there OK but not Title. There was a plugin around that restored this basic seo functionality but it's no longer available. I mean - honestly!

Optimizing a large mess
An agency referred me to a client who wants a proposal for SEO. The website has been recently completed, but it a complete train wreck. I just ran a Moz crawl and I'm looking at 303 issues to fix out of a site with 377 pages. I just downloaded an xml sitemap, hoping to prioritize what needs to be done, however I'm not getting a clear sense of the hierarchy. In your opinion, what is the best way to attack a project of this size? I am clear on the client's business goals, so I can work on the most crucial pages first, but I can't leave the rest of the site a mess. Should I start by gathering for links that have no user value and plan to block them with meta tags? I'm used to optimizing much smaller sites, so any advice on how to approach this proposal would be much appreciated. Thank you!

To change or not to change site URL structure?
I am learning my way around SEO, having always used professionals for it in the past on previous businesses i have decided to do it myself and learn more about it. Now the dilemma i am up against is i recently changed some of my permalinks on quite a few main pages throughout the site. The site launched in April this year so we're quite new. The problem is since my last change i have not seen any increase...a decrease which in fact hasn't recovered at all. Having now analysed them in more depth and read up more on the whole subject of SEO, (which is endless) i have put together a complete new strategy; with this increased understanding of what i am doing (but by no means conclusive) i want to complete a full overhaul on all SEO (via Wordpress which i use along with YOAST SEO tools), ensuring i have all my keywords, permalinks and descriptions spot on throughout every page, post and picture. I spent a lot of time mapping these out, ensuring there is no Focus keyword duplication, and that the site is relatively flat in terms of its layout. What i am unsure about now is whether changing my permalinks again is a bad thing to do?

Could it permanently damage my rep going forward?
Should i just focus on my content and keywords/descriptions? I am at a loss as i don't want to do irreparable damage to our reputation. The site is still reasonable easy to manage so changing now is the best time to do it, but if changing the URLs is a waste of time then i may just forget that and just work on the keywords, descriptions and content. Advice is 'oh so welcome' 🙂0 -

On-page: Over optimized images?
Hello guys. I have a small question about an on-page optimization for images. What I have: good title tag / good url structure good content (NOT keyword shuffled, its real content, for real people) images / gallery uploaded to folder named same as article name. For example: Great tips for bloggers [article name], great-tips-for-bloggers [folder name]. So my question is: Will Google harm me for this "too good" paths to images, article related image filenames, with mask like [gtips-img01], and if all images have titles / alt tags? Thank you guys.
