Should I worry about duplicate content errors caused by backslashes?
-
Frequently we get red-flagged for duplicate content in the MozPro Crawl Diagnostics for URLs with and without a backslash at the end. For example:
gets flagged as being a duplicate of
I assume that we could rel=canonical this, if needed, but our assumption has been that Google is clever enough to discount this as a genuine crawl error.
Can anyone confirm or deny that?
Thanks.

I would 301 and not rel canoncial. Less chance of error or things getting out of hand. Also, its the correct way to canonicalise urls. The rel canonical tag is for different situations (sorting order etc)

Thanks - well spotted, I was a bit stupid there.
And that does look like an error to me!

I agree with Alex's idea, but not the particular example.
www.mysite.com/Example and www.mysite/example are two different URLs.
You can freely capitalize any letter in the domain name and it makes no difference at all and will always return the same page as per ICANN rules which all major browsers and servers follow.
@Mackenzie, I suggest setting a rule to redirect one version of your URL to the other (with or without a slash). Notice in this moz Q&A the URL does not end in a slash. If you add a slash the site will redirect the URL. What's strange to me is rather then redirecting the URL to the version of the URL without the slash the browser is redirected to the Q&A home page. My guess is that is an error or someone got lazy, but I am typing this reply in the small hope there is a valid reason I am missing and someone will educate me

It is considered as two different addresses, as is www.example.com and www.Example.com. You should add the canonical tag and find out how to specify your preferred version on your server too.

Unsolved Strange "?offset" URL found with content crawl issues
I recently recieved a slew of content crawl issues via Moz for URL's that I have never seen before For example:
Moz Pro | | HannahPalamara
Standard URL: https://skilldirector.com/news,
Newly identified URL: https://skilldirector.com/news?offset=1469542207800&category=Competency+Management). Does anyone know where the URL comes from and how to fix it?0 -
Solving 'duplicate content' for page 2 of X for 1 blog post
Hi to all SEO wizards, For my Dutch blog google-plus-marketing.nl I'm using WordPress Genesis framework 2.0 with news theme pro 2.0 responsive theme. I love the out of the box SEO friendliness and features. One of those features is that it allows for a blog post or page to be divided into several pages. This results in MOZ signaling duplicate titles for all pages after the 1st page. Now I was thinking that a canonical url set to the first page should do the trick for me as I reason that the rank will go the the first page and the rest will not be seen as duplicates. Genesis does some good stuff on it's own and places the following meta tags in the header for the first page. All looks well and my question is about the same meta tags for the 2nd page and higher that I pasted below this one for the 1st page. Meta tags page 1 of X for blog post Meta tags page 2 of X for the same blog post Would it not be better to point the canonical url for page 2 till X to always point to the first page? In this case:

Why do I see a duplicate content errors when rel="canonical" tag is present
I was reviewing my first Moz crawler report and noticed the crawler returned a bunch of duplicate page content errors. The recommendations to correct this issue are to either put a 301 redirect on the duplicate URL or use the rel="canonical" tag so Google knows which URL I view as the most important and the one that should appear in the search results. However, after poking around the source code I noticed all of the pages that are returning duplicate content in the eyes of the Moz crawler already have the rel="canonical" tag. Does the Moz crawler simply not catch whether that tag is being used? If I have that tag in place, is there anything else I need to do in order to get that error to stop showing up in the Moz crawler report?

Rogerbot does not catch all existing 4XX Errors
Hi I experienced that Rogerbot after a new Crawl presents me new 4XX Errors, so why doesn't he tell me all at once? I have a small static site and had 9 crawls ago 10 4XX Errors, so I tried to fix them all.
Moz Pro | | inlinear
The next crawl Rogerbot fount still 5 Errors so I thought that I did not fix them all... but this happened now many times so that I checked before the latest crawl if I really fixed all the errors 101%. Today, although I really corrected 5 Errors, Rogerbot digs out 2 "new" Errors. So does Rogerbot not catch all the errors that have been on my site many weeks before? Pls see the screenshot how I was chasing the errors 😉 404.png0 -
5xx (Server Errors)-in Wordpress
Since going to a wordpress platform in November, I have seen many 501 server errors in the crawl report. When I click on the link in the report however, the link shows the actual page with no errors. I reviewed all the Q&A but didn't see anything related to this issue. Does anyone have an idea as to why the actual link works when I click on it but the SEOMOZ crawl bot is showing a 5XX error. Thanks for any ideas or feedback you may have.

Where do these error 404 pages come from
Hi, I've got a list of about 12 url's in our 404 section on here which I'm confused about. The url's relate to Christmas so they have not been active for 9 months. Can anyone answer where the SeoMoz crawler found these url's as they are not linked to on the website. Thanks

Why am I getting an access error when creating my first campaign?
The exact error message is: The change you wanted was rejected. Maybe you tried to change something you didn't have access to. I checked the Word Count and I am definitely <300 keywords. I have also made sure that the Branded Keywords are entered 1 per entry form. My cookies are clear and there should be no issue with my browser.

About Duplicate Content found by SEOMOZ... that is not duplicate
Hi folks, I am hunting for duplicate content based on SEOMOZ great tool for that 🙂 I have some pages that are mentioned as duplicate but I cant say why. They are video page. The content is minimalistic so I guess it might be because all the navigation is the same but for instance http://www.nuxeo.com/en/resource-center/Videos/Nuxeo-World-2010/Nuxeo-World-2010-Presentation-Thierry-Delprat-CTO and http://www.nuxeo.com/en/resource-center/Videos/Nuxeo-World-2010/Nuxeo-World-2010-Presentation-Cheryl-McKinnon-CMO are mentioned as duplicate. Any idea? Is it hurting? Cheers,
