Looking for quality, cheap web design company recommendations
-
Does anyone have any recommendations of a very cheap web design company from India or other countries where the work is also high quality?
I can project manage the development and provide a set of web standards such as to use valid code, no meta keyword tags, no flash, etc etc. I am looking for companies I can trust to perform the actual work.
The web is full of companies but examples of quality work with WordPress, Joomla and particular ecommerce platforms is very thin or non-existent. If you can share any companies which you have personal experience with, I would appreciate it.

This is a great thread. I've also tried the foreign outsource thing. It's been hit or miss. I guess my question would be what's cheap?
-
I have a romanian friend that is a Microsoft most Valued Professional, who is very skilled, he works quite cheap compared to US or AU prices, but not as cheap as India a good priogrammer of his standing will earn 500US a week. He is also very productive, I would like to push more work his way, but it took me a long time to find such a person and i dont want to lose him.
Really Ryan its not that easy (not saying you think it is, but i must give you the value of my exprirences), you still have to take responcibility and pick up the peices for any failiuers, then there is the comunications problems. I would go in prepared to lose and pick up the peices untill you find the right person.

I was very fair also. But got the idea they see it as a get rich scam rather then building a business partnership
I have one guy over there that does some link building for me, but even a reliable link builder was hard to find. -
Which is why I was hoping some awesome community members might share a company they worked with and can recommend. I definitely do not want to go in blind on any level
-
Right... and you have a huge probability of getting infringement.

Thanks for the advice Alan.
I should clarify by "cheap" I try to be very fair too. Web development work in the US is quite expensive due to a variety of factors such as cost of living, taxes, legal system, etc. I recognize many countries such as the ones you mention have some very good programmers who work for low wages. I would ideally like to work with a company or team that has experience building sites and hopefully the relationship can be a win for all involved.
My clients win because they are having quality websites built for significantly less.
The developers win because they have a new source of sales.
My company wins because we are able to create a win for clients and have developers we can work with and overcome a common challenge in the SEO industry whereby the SEO requests changes and the developer pushes back on various levels.

I have been there Ryan, you may get cheap, but i doubt you will ever get quality. You also will be battling to get cheap. I have tried to outsource work, I tried a few diffent inderviduals and companies and eventualy gave my plan away. Either the work was shocking or they tried to make enouth to retire on the one job. Eveny instauction i gave them they uped the price. If I asked for somthing be done properly they uped the price. Would not had over the work until i paid a ransom. i never got any work done i could use, I ended up doing myself or paying a friend to clean up.
If you still decide to go that way, do not pay by the hour. do not pay in advacne
but if you want people who really know their stuff look in eastern europe, bulgaria, romania very good programmers and very low wages.

Best less expensive graphic design
Hello, We have an Ecommerce store and we need our category buttons to be redone and to shine. Unfortunately, I've tried all my places and none are 10X, though none of them cost very much (like Fiverr, Freelancer) What I would like is some advice on where to go for inexpensive but still very good quality graphics. I'm a good designer, and so far, I can do better graphics than the designers I've found, I just don't have the time as a busy SEO. Please let me know If you have any gems you are willing to share. I'm searching the community colleges as we speak. Thanks.

Any new tips on how to speed up re-listing after re-design?
A few things around re-designing an older but well performing site for search and retaining/ improving SEO value. Lots of effort has been put into content marketing and optimising individual pages on this site, it has a lot of links coming in from well-respected sites (but the domain name will remain the same so that shouldn't be an issue) so I'm very anxious about how the redesign will effect ranking, although the new site will be far more user friendly, beautiful, responsive where the old one is not and faster to load. Would really like to avoid the search engine drop when the site first goes live if at all possible- One idea on this was to make the new site live on another domain - .co.uk for example, whilst keeping the old site up on the .com for a month or so, then switching the records so the new site is then visible on .com and the .co.uk redirects to it. Does this sound at all sensible?! Also any more advice on how best to ensure the new site will do better, not worse for search is hugely appreciated. We have cut a lot of content to make it more user friendly and easy to find information. We will be making sure all old links are redirected to new site (but as there are fewer pages on new site, will it matter if 5 old URLS point to one new URL for instance?) Also what's the difference between 301 and 302 redirects! Thank you so much in advance, massively appreciated your time!

Responsive design to serve different page for IE8 - SEO Implications?
A client is planning on developing a responsive designed website which redirects visitors using IE8 to a static webpage that encourages users to visit in another browser. What are the SEO implications of a server redirect just for IE8 visitors? Possible solutions: would containing a link on the static page to "continue browsing" and give the visitor access to the entire site in IE8 work well? Or should a CSS overlay message appear to IE8 visitors, no redirect, that encourages them to visit in another browser? Or serving a separate stylesheet for IE8 visitors, and not giving a responsive experience be optimal? Any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated. Cheers, Alex

Responsive Web Design WordPress Template Suggestions
Does anyone have any RWD WP templates they would suggest? It's for a friend of mine that is starting a local solar panel installation company. For the beginning, he likely will not have more than a handful of categories and subcategories. I'd say no more than 50 total pages. Any suggestions would help. He doesn't want to spend more than $50 - $100, but he's not married to that figure if it's worth it. Thanks everyone, Ruben

What is a really great bounce rate for a product or service site? What does Good look like?
I am really curious about a result I have never seen before. Our bounce rate went down a lot on a new site. So, what is good??? Recently, we took on a project with a company that offers a product they install for consumers and who had been in business for 15 plus years. The company is successful, has good customer base of those who have been made very happy, etc. It is not a repeat sale type of product, etc. One and done. Their site when we began talking was roughly a year old and was not well constructed but not terrible. Most of the issues were around I frames, use of older coding, poor SEO, etc. There was not really a way to "redesign" and we built a new site. This became a true collaboration in a B2B environment as the owner pushed us like crazy. Not the bad kind of push, the one that makes you say to your team, "Let's find a way!" The result, IMO, was a gorgeous site. But, as you know, those are a dime a dozen. But, to get to the point, when we took over the account they had a bounce rate of around 45%. I did not see this as either good or bad, but a fact and for this industry probably not bad at all. In all honesty, I was not looking at that as a first metric I wanted to move, but it was obviously at or near the top for all the reasons we know. So, this site is a local business, not an everyday product and gets about 2500 to 3000 uniques per month. If we compare to May of 2011/2012: 2011 2012 Total Visitors 1852 3,298 Uniques 1609 2,740 Pageviews 5,634 23,203 Pages/visit 3.04 7.04 Avg Duration 2.05 3.20 Yes, I am leaving off what we are getting, yes, I am leaving off the site. Please don't hate me. I am really wanting to see what others see with site changes and bounce rates first and will disclose. So, what's a great bounce rate? How do you know?

How can the Web site designer and the SEO strategist work together peacefully?
The organization I work for has decided to re-design or re-develop the existing company Web site. My part in this project is to come up with new features to add to the site, as well as making the site SEO-friendly (copywriting, link-building, keyword research, etc.). I don’t know a thing about Web site design, coding, format, etc., and I guess I will have to work with a designer on this project. How would I go about finding a Web site designer? Should they have some SEO knowledge? How much designer, coding and site structure knowledge should I have? And how do we not infringe on one another as we work together? (Sorry so many questions.)
