ON SITE SEARCH INDEXED BY GOOGLE - no follow or no index
-
Google indexes alll our internetal searches: search box is brand - clothes types - size type - and for each page it creates a page that which creates duplicate page title and unnecessary content. Should I do a nofollow on the advance search or a no index. Many thanks for the info. Sonja

Hi Sonja,
It sounds like you are referring to issues with pagination within your site.
The rel=next and rel=previous tags were recently made available to address this situation.
Here is an explanation of how to implement the rel=next & rel=previous tags from the Google Webmaster Central Blog.
Hope that helps,
Sha

Dear Sha,
many thanks for your reply - great answer! Just a small follow on question. I also have brand option so say a visitor a customer click on gucci logo all the gucci products come up. Now the first page I can create my own title so it would say gucci shop ... however all follow on pages have the same title. In effect its the same products alredy indexed would you recommend that I also do a no index on this option as well. So basically, only have the products and the categories indexed? Many thanks for your time Sonja ps we do not stock gucci : @ )

Hi Sonja,
Adding the meta noindex tag will instruct the search engine to remove the URL from the index.
In almost every case I would recommend using noindex, follow as this will allow link juice to continue to flow to other pages within your site.
Hope that helps,
Sha

No-index all the posts of a category
Hi everyone! I would like no-indexing all the posts of a specific category of my wordpress site. The problem is that the structure of my URL is composed without /category/: www.site-name.ext/date/post-name/
On-Page Optimization | | salvyy
so without /category-name/ Is possibile to disallow the indexing of all the posts of the category via robots.txt? Using Yoast Plugin I can put the no-index for each post, but I would like to put the no-index (or disallow/) a time for all the post of the category. Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for my english. Mike0 -
Google indexing
Hi In my site I have 2 blogs, the first blog is a standard blog, every post is informative and over 6oo words with pictures and all of them are keyworded. The second blog is basically a journal of bike rides i go on, with a picture and about 100 - 300 word writeup. I use a portfolio plugin to get this online. My question is should I noindex nofollow all of these posts. Im not sure if google will see it as a lot of uninformative noncene, I dont write these as blog posts they are a journal I post 1 or 2 a day. What is the normal practice for this... they are not keyworded or seo'd I dont want them to affect my seo or rankings. Thanks Chris

Site Redesign: Potential Problems?
We're looking at a cleanup of our site and making our navigation menu simpler and more visual. The problem is there's a massive fear that we will incur some sort of SEO hit at a time when we can ill afford one. The bulk of the changes are around some tertiary pages that have some SEO value but are not primary targets or traffic sources. The pages with content aren't moving URLs or changing, nor is the core content of the site, just the template. The new template, I feel, is easier to navigate and easier to spider (menus are flyout divs with images). So are there any tips or tricks to changing the layout of your site without hurting SEO? Anything we need to avoid?

Is Google Places appropriate for an ecommerce site and blogs
I'm working with a client that has an ecommerce site. He has e physical addresses where they work, however, neither would want customers to go to their office. Is it inappropriate to create a Google Places listing in this situation? I'm working with another client who runs a blog for his PR agency. Is it OK to create a Google Places listing for a blog? He would welcome people to visit his agency.
