My customer has about 50 domain names they own, what can I suggest they do with them to increase SEO?

This customer has purchased about 50 domains over the years and has them all redirecting to their main website. What could I suggest they do with all of these domain names to increase SEO?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated...
Thanks!

Good answer.
The only time I would do anything with an extra domain name is for testing, and if you have a exact match domain, then maybe it may be worth using as a landing domain.

You're welcome Josh. Asking these kind of questions on a forum such as this one is a great way to learn more about SEO, so well done there.
There is a beginners guide to SEO which you may find helpful, it can be found at http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo
The old saying that Content is King still rings true, so having a content plan would be a good step. It should be seen as an investment in the website and the business rather than an expense.
The SEOmoz tools are great, especially the Competitive Analysis tool.
Best of luck,
Simon

Thanks so much Simon, Ya... I kinda figured there might not be too much value in the form of SEO but I just wanted to put it out to the group to check. I'm new at SEO and am learning as I go... hoping to make a dent in my current customer's analytics with some basic changes, adding metadata and descriptions, keyword research, etc.
I'll hold off on doing anything too crazy with those extra domains... I've told the client that I'm going to need their help developing some relevant content and PR type of articles to help drive traffic to the site... so I'll probably concentrate on that at this point.
Thanks again!
Josh

Hi Joshua
These 50 domains that are on redirect won't hold any SEO value as they are, except if any are new redirects that recently hosted a reputable website themselves. If any were to host a new unique website with their own SEO quality attributes such as inbound links and then linked into the main website, it may only provide some temporary benefit as that would be likely be flagged up as link farming and would be more costly and time consuming than the following suggestion, so I really don't recommend doing anything such as this. Thought I'd mention it as something to avoid.
My suggestion is to not do anything with these domains other than continue to redirect them if they are desired to be kept. Instead, focus on improving the on-page and off-page SEO of the main website through investing in unique relevant interesting valuable content which in turn can form the basis of obtaining more good quality links.
Also consider some online and offline PR, plus further distribution of your content through channels such as Social. Hope that helps.
Regards
Simon

Sell them or let them expire, then use the income / savings to buy one of these to fuel your content attack.... or you could use the money to buy beer.

Is it bad for international SEO to redirect CcTLDs and install Google website translator plugin to the primary domain (UK)?
We've bought lots of country extensions, e.g. .es, .fr, .in, .me, etc. Rather than employing translators, will it be acceptable for SEO to install the google translate plugin to the site, and 301 redirect the country extensions to the .com address?

Avvo.com: Are links in the contribution area bad for SEO?
Hello all and thank you for taking the time to read my question. I am struggling with a client of mine. I have done just about everything that I can think of that has worked on other sites. Banging my head up against the wall here. He is VERY active in the contribution area of Avvo.com (answering questions and making guides). His site use to rank very well but now it can't be found at all. One of the things that caught my attention is the way he would leave his citation in his answers for AVVO. He would leave a direct link to his website. Since his rankings have dropped I have advised him to stop. Do you think Google is treating them as spam? His link profile is small >1000 links but half of them are from AVVO I was wondering if anyone else any experience with this? Thanks in advance

What options are there for local SEO when no physical location exists?
I work for a automobile transportation company that provides services in several different cities throughout the US. Our headquarters (and physical location) is in San Diego, California, however we have drivers stationed in several different cities throughout the nation. The problem is, we don't have physical locations in those other cities - our drivers essentially work from home. What local SEO options are available to us, if any, for those cities where we don't have an actual brick and mortar address? Listing the home address of our drivers is, for obvious reasons, not ideal. Thanks for your help!

If i rank for BRAND-NAME.com for my salon, will it hurt my rankings if i make a BRANDNAMEbeautyshop.co.uk for my shop?
I'm looking into starting eCommerce retail shop, off the back of my salon's success. Yet I'm split into using a cart software on my excising domain or a multi-channel shopping software on a new .co.uk linked via the menu of my salon domain. Ideally i could proceed and use both domains for the one company just to clarify: my salon domain is uk targeted and is "www.Brand-Name.com" (with - seperating brand words) my proposed shop domain is uk targeted "www.BrandNameBeautyShop.com" Any ideas if it would hurt my campaign to do such a thing?
