How can i get google adsense to work properly to earn income
-
Hi i am trying to get google adsense to work properly but i am not winning. What i am trying to do is, to get the adverts to reflect on the content.
So for example this page here http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/mark-feehily/westlife-mark-feehily-announces-split-from-long-term-boyfriend
I would like google adsense to have celebrity adverts such as celebrity news sites, celebrity fashion, concert tickets etc. I want the adverts to be related to celebrity but it is not happening.
Can anyone please let me know how to do this and also if i have the google adsense in the right place as since rebuilding the site we have not earned anything with google adsense
many thanks

Don't forget Google only allows three ads per page. It looks as if you may have more than that.
-
so you suggest that i should just leave it the way it is. i cannot find where to add or block ads. spent the past half an hour trying to work it out.
do you feel the page as above has to many ads on it. i want it to look quality but at the same time, the site needs to start earning me money. any advice would be good
just found where to add and block. would love to hear suggestions about the page and the set out to see where i am going wrong and to see if i should keep the title where google ads is or to get rid of it.
-
I block where the % ad shown is higher then the % revenue & also block a few of the sensitive ones - dont particularly want sameers ads on my site
-
When I first started using adsense I didn't like some of the ads that appeared on my page because they did not match the subject of my page. So I blocked them. My income went down. I unblocked them and my income went back up.
Any time that you post ads you are selling the pleasant odor of your site. I have found that with adsense an unpleasant odor generally pays quite well.... but generally the ads that appear are acceptable. It's really rare for me to block any ads unless they are religious or provocative in ways that are not compatible with my visitors..
-
i will get rid of the celebrity title above the ads, i put it there as a way to try and get relevant ads but i will try and block ads and add ads but at the moment google are sending me ads that are not relevant and make the page look silly
-
Place the code on your site and allow Google to do the rest.
They will experiment with the ads being shown and over time will be sending you the ads that perform best on your page. Those will probably match the content of your page but they might not.
You can block ads from any domain if you don't want them on your site.
My advice... let google do the ad selection. Don't assume that celebrity ads are going to make the most money on your site.

Cool, unique is good. Its not really about ads per page, its about trust and not looking spammy
The bit where you have "Celebrity Gossip" and then two blocks of adsense links, is the kind of deception that will get you kicked out of adsense if you are not carefull

content is unique stephen, no i have not done that with adsense. how many ads do you recommend per page
-
Did you go into categories in Adsense and block and allow ad types, under Allow/block ads?
How much traffic do you get? Site obviously seems super spammy being covered in ads and i guess your content is not unique?

My posts are ignored by google not sure why
I have been investigating this problem for some time now and there must be a technical problem. My posts seem to be ignored by google. For example, if i put this title of my article in google, other sites come up instead of my website Lincolnshire Caravan Owners Struggle To Compete With Haven https://www.in2town.co.uk/skegness-news/lincolnshire-caravan-owners-struggle-to-compete-with-haven/ I am trying to find out what technical problem I have that is stopping google displaying my post. Can anyone advise me on what tools to use and how to find out what is going wrong

Vanity URLs are being indexed in Google
We are currently using vanity URLs to track offline marketing, the vanity URL is structured as www.clientdomain.com/publication, this URL then is 302 redirected to the actual URL on the website not a custom landing page. The resulting redirected URL looks like: www.clientdomain.com/xyzpage?utm_source=print&utm_medium=print&utm_campaign=printcampaign. We have started to notice that some of the vanity URLs are being indexed in Google search. To prevent this from happening should we be using a 301 redirect instead of a 302 and will the Google index ignore the utm parameters in the URL that is being 301 redirect to? If not, any suggestions on how to handle? Thanks,

Does Google know what footer content is?
We plan to do away with fixed footer content and make, for the most part, the content in the traditional footer area unique just like the 'main' part of the content. This begs the question, do Google know what is footer content as opposed to main on page content?

Google places address missing
I have a google places acct that used to rank fairly well. Then i changed addresses and updated the places account. It stopped ranking and whats worse is that the address will not show up in the listing. I have gone back in and edited it, verified it, done everything, but the address does not show on the places page or google results. It shows the city but not the actual address. Ideas?

Can JavaScrip affect Google's index/ranking?
We have changed our website template about a month ago and since then we experienced a huge drop in rankings, especially with our home page. We kept the same url structure on entire website, pretty much the same content and the same on-page seo. We kind of knew we will have a rank drop but not that huge. We used to rank with the homepage on the top of the second page, and now we lost about 20-25 positions. What we changed is that we made a new homepage structure, more user-friendly and with much more organized information, we also have a slider presenting our main services. 80% of our content on the homepage is included inside the slideshow and 3 tabs, but all these elements are JavaScript. The content is unique and is seo optimized but when I am disabling the JavaScript, it becomes completely unavailable. Could this be the reason for the huge rank drop? I used the Webmaster Tolls' Fetch as Googlebot tool and it looks like Google reads perfectly what's inside the JavaScrip slideshow so I did not worried until now when I found this on SEOMoz: "Try to avoid ... using javascript ... since the search engines will ... not indexed them ... " One more weird thing is that although we have no duplicate content and the entire website has been cached, for a few pages (including the homepage), the picture snipet is from the old website. All main urls are the same, we removed some old ones that we don't need anymore, so we kept all the inbound links. The 301 redirects are properly set. But still, we have a huge rank drop. Also, (not sure if this important or not), the robots.txt file is disallowing some folders like: images, modules, templates... (Joomla components). We still have some html errors and warnings but way less than we had with the old website. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you!

Is my non-www domain working
I believe we may have an issue with out domains and links which is causing our seo to suffer. As far as I'm aware, our non-www domain is being treated as a different domain name. Open Site explorer returns different information for each one. However, when I go to the non-www domain in my browser (I have to force it using the http as otherwise the browser auto inserts the www) my browser returns a page cannot be found. But there may be a chance this is actually an issue with the server we access the internet via at work. I need to establish 100% beyond all doubt that our non-www domain is not working. This is the www: http://www.jetbookingdirect.com/ This is the non-www: http://jetbookingdirect.com/ If it is definitely not working, is the right thing to do to ask my web host to setup a 301 redirect? Further, I thought redirects could only point to one address. If we 301 redirect, if someone accesses a specific page via the non-www domain, does it then take them to the correct page? Also, is it safe to say that our non-www domain not working has affected our SEO, and if we fix it, will it improve things for us? Thank you so much for clarification on this issue.
