Is this splitting my authority or link juice?
-
Hi
Using seomoz i am getting told that a 302 temporary redirect is occurring on some of my pages for instance.
http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/
Then redirects here
http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/default.phuse
is this splitting my page authority because of the temporary redirect?
I just want to make sure i have fully understood what's happening before i go to the company who designed and developed our site as i am convinced this is hurting my rankings.
Thanks
-
No, it's still a redirect. See attached image clearly stating a 302 Temporary Redirect from http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/ to http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/default.phuse
If your developer still doesn't believe you then have them verify it themselves with this web based HTTP header check tool ~> http://www.webconfs.com/http-header-check.php

Hello
This is the response i got from the web developer.
"Additionally, about the "redirects", Our developer has explained that they are not actually redirects. For example take http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/default.phuse. If you enter http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/ into a browser then it appears to redirect to http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/default.phuse because http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/ does not exist as a page within the site. Rather, it is a folder that contains the sub pages for solar power hence why it shows the first page in the folder which is deafult.phuse. This is why it appears to redirect but we have not done any redirects. I think this is a misunderstanding so there is little we can do to help other than provide an explanation of why it behaves the way it does."
Is this me or is it still a redirect?
Thanks
-
Thank You for your responses.
I thought this was the case just needed it confirming. Unfortunately I have the small problem of our web design company to accept there is a problem and solve it.

The 301 redirect also tell the search engine where the NEW location address of this page is (the final page you want to have ranked) while passing all other page value from the links built to the page exist.
-
Yes, using a 302 Temporary Redirect is hurting your page authority because these types of server response codes do NOT pass any link juice. To cultivate all inbound/internal link equity you want to use a 301 Permanent Redirect instead. With a 301 redirect you retain about 90% of the link value.

It certainly will not help, but may be is not hurting too much

Does redirecting a duplicate page NOT in Google‘s index pass link juice? (External links not showing in search console)
Hello! We have a powerful page that has been selected by Google as a duplicate page of another page on the site. The duplicate is not indexed by Google, and the referring domains pointing towards that page aren’t recognized by Google in the search console (when looking at the links report). My question is - if we 301 redirect the duplicate page towards the one that Google has selected as canonical, will the link juice be passed to the new page? Thanks!

Questions About Link Detox
Greetings: In April of 2014 an SEO firm ran a link removal campaign (identified spammy links and uploaded a disavow). The overall campaign was ineffective and MOZ domain rank has fallen to 24 from about 30 in the last year and traffic is 20% lower. I purchased a basic package for Link Detox and ran a report today (see enclosed) to see if toxic links could be contributing to our mediocre rankings. As a novice I have a few questions for you regarding this the use of Link Detox: -We scored a domain wide detox risk of 1,723. The site has referring root domains with 7113 links to our site. 121 links were classified as high audit priority. 56 as medium audit priority. 221 links were previously disavowed and we uploaded a spreadsheet containing the names of the previously disavowed links. We had LinkDetox include an analysis of no-follow links as they recommend this. Is our score really bad? If we remove the questionable links should we see some benefit in ranking? -Some of the links we disavowed last year are still linking to our site. Is it worthwhile to include those links again in our new disavow file? -Prior to filing a disavow we will request that Webmaster remove offending links. LinkDetox offers a package called Superhero for $469.00 that automates the process. Does this package effectively help with the entire process of writing and tracking the removal requests? Do you know of any other good alternatives? -A feature called "Boost" is included in the LinkDetox Super Hero package. It is suppose to expedite Google's processing of the disavow file. I was told by the staff at Link Detox that with Boost Google will process the disavow within a week. Do you have any idea if this claim is valid??? It would be great if it were true. -We never experienced any manual penalty from Google. Will uploading a disavow help us under the circumstances? Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it!!! Does link juice pass along the URL or the folders? 10yr old PR 6 site
We have a website that is ~10yrs old and a PR 6. It has a bunch of legitimate links from .edu and .gov sites. Until now the owner has never blogged or added much content to the site. We have suggested that to grow his traffic organically he should add a worpress blog and get agressive with his content. The IT guy is concerned about putting a wordpress blog on the same server as the main site because of security issues with WP. They have a bunch of credit card info on file. So, would it be better to just put the blog on a subdomain like blog.mysite.com OR host the blog on another server but have the URL structure be mysite.com/blog? I have tried to pass as much juice as possible. Any ideas?

Natural Link Profile, low and high value links, really?
I cant really get my head around this one. I've read a few times when building links make sure you pick up so low value links as well. So here is an example (and lets say each link takes half hour to get): I got 5 hours of link building and this is what I have managed to get with the time. 1. 10 high value links all with PA/DA 50-60+ 2. 5 high value links with PA/DA 50-60+ AND another 5 low value links with PA/DA 10-. Surely #1 beats #2 hands down?
