Url in Google Places bulk upload
-
Hi,
I'm preparing a bulk upload for Google Places and have a question about the url of every individual place.
The website is structured this was:
www.website.com/entrepreneur-X
www.website.com/entrepreneur-Y
...But you can reach every individual entrepreneur like this as well:
www.entrepreneur-x.com
www.entrepreneur-y.com
...these URL's redirect to the pages listed aboveand they use the e-mail address info@entrepreneur-y.com
Should I use www.website.com/entrepreneur-X or www.entrepreneur-x.com in the bulk upload?
I think it's best using www.website.com/entrepreneur-x because the other url is a redirect. What do you guys think??

The issue is going to be around how you use the name. What Google does not want is what I would call a misdirection by a business (and many unscrupulous ones try often). So, if you are in a town and your business is John's Coffee in town, but your national brand is HotTime Coffee, the issue will be around who you are. Due to the number of people utilizing Places, you need to be clear prior to the upload that you are using a viable (within the guidelines clearly) method or presentment.
My suggestion would be to first do one or two. You can get those verified in a day or two. Once you have the format of presentation correct, try one more to be sure always utilizing a distant location so you have a good view of the landscape. Then do your bulk upload.
To me, this would be better as you would spend 2to 4 days getting ready and reduce time on the backend by having had it right to start with.Best to you

Hi Robert,
Just finished preparing the bulk upload, and we're using
www.website.com/entrepreneur-x for the different entrepreneurs.
Now let's hope that Google will verify it quickly.. Last time we did a bulk upload for a franchise business we had problems with the Business Name. It took us more than 2 months to get it the way Google wants it. Upload, waiting for 4 weeks, denied, changed the file, upload again, ...
We used the name of the Brand for all locations, but the listing was denied and we had to use the name of the local business of the entrepreneur. So if I have a business called NIM Coffee and I run a Starbucks here in my town, they wouldn't let me put Starbucks in the business name (maybe Starbucks isn't the best example, but I think you get what I mean, right? )

Greetings nvs.nim,
Thanks for coming to Q&A to ask your question. I apologize if my response is run together in a single paragraph. We've been having an issue with that today in the forum.
Google's guidelines state the following:
- Do not provide phone numbers or URLs that redirect or “refer” users to landing pages or phone numbers other than those of the actual business.
Thus, the answer to your question is that you should not use the re-directing URLs.
Hope this helps!

I believe you are correct and would go with what you have for a couple of reasons.
First I believe due to the redirect it is best to use the site it resolves to.
Second, if you were doing this as a franchisor/franchisee this would be very common. The main company as the domain with each location. Even if there is no rule associated with it (and I am not aware of one) it follows a convention that is already established and sometimes that is a good thing in and of itself.
I think you asked an excellent question and I appreciate it.
Let us know how you go with it and how it works out. You can even PM me with it if you wish as I would really like to know.

What happens if I structurally uploaded two different images under the same name? Will Google penalise me for it?
Hi, we are a self storage company (www.boxie24.com) and for every url (500 url's) we use 1 head image containing the keyword of the url, so for instance: https://www.boxie24.com/en-us/self-storage-west-village the main image on top is self-storage-west-village-sm.jpg. It was uploaded months ago. Now we are adding more images between the content. But we call them: self-storage-west-village-sm.jpg as well and self-storage-west-village-boxie24-storage-sm. But for almost every url we have "duplicate image name". Is that bad and should we fix it or is it ok? It are different images though. I noticed it today, the images have the same name

Unusual Google+ Local listing ranking well
If you search for locksmith Phoenix, this Google+ page is ranked #3 in the local results: https://plus.google.com/117543374216451236579/about?hl=en The phone number is a VOIP number, they don't appear to have many/any citations, no reviews, etc. They've listed the Yelp search results page as their website. Strange. How are they ranking so well? Is Google ranking them well because it's associating them with Yelp.com? Any thoughts?

Google Carousel - What Should We Now Be Doing Differently?
Google Carousel is rolling out for even more topics. How does it affect or change tracking in Google Analytics? For example, if I am in the Carousel and someone clicks my listing, then Google completes a search for my property… then the searcher clicks through to my site organically. Will I know that someone originally clicked the Carousel or will I have no idea and simply see a Google organic click? Should we be optimizing our Google+ Places listings differently? How does this change our own organic keyword targeting? In other words, if I am in the Carousel should I go after a different keyword organically? Does anyone know how many people are clicking into the Carousel vs. the organic listings or even pay per click below? Searchers behavior will be altered because of this change. What say you all? Local SEO: Google Places and Google+
Hello, I'm a little confused by Google+ for business. I set up a Google Places page in 2010 and recently changed my address to incorporate my suite number and to spell out "Street" instead of abbreviating. I'm planning on carefully changing all citations to match. Next I started a Google+ page for my business. But I couldn't fill out the address and ended up requesting a postcard for verification to continue. The postcard was sent to the right address but no suite number. I'll still get the postcard, but I can't finish my page yet. Also, I don't know if I have to re-verify my Places page with the slight changes. Am I on the right track?

URL redirect to a YouTube Channel?
Hey all, We recently ran a video content contest on a micro site and we generated some links for the URL. In December we are planning on doing a redirect of the domain to our YouTube channel where all of the videos hosted. My question is how much SEO benefit will there be by redirecting to our YouTube channel vs redirecting to a single video from the contest. Does the strength of the channel as whole affect the videos in that channels ability to rank on YouTube and in SERPs? The other option is to just redirect the URL to our product page on our main website, but to me that doesn't seem like it would provide the best user experience 🙂 If anyone has experience with this kind of an issue I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

Google Places Account Suspended
Hi- I was recently forced to migrate my Google account. After going through the process my Google Places profiles associated with this email was suspended. I've read the quality guidelines and I'm pretty certain that my account was suspended because: --

Account Email Address: Use a shared business email account, if multiple users will be updating your business listing. If possible, use an email account under your business domain. For example, if your business website is www.google.com, a matching email address would be you@google.com. There seems to be no way to change the email address associated with a Places account. I've pretty much resolved to obtaining emails at the business domain and setting the profiles up again from scratch. Before I do this does anyone have any other ideas? I've posted the question at Google webmaster forums and have only found other similar unanswered questions. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! LHC0
