Unique content for local pages
-
Hi,
working on a website of a retailer who has about 100 shops accross the country and every shop has a page on the corporate website. Some questions about content on these pages:
-
is it ok to add links to the brands they sell in those shops on every business-page? It's a link to the product listing they sell of that brand
-
I wrote a generic text about the business where I can replace city, street it's located, ... Is it ok to use that kind of text on the local business pages?
-
anybody some ideas I can write about on those loca business pages?

Thanks for the advice!
will work with that. Gonna setup a Google Docs form and send it to the business owners.

I would do this.. if it is not going to be a briarpatch because of changes.

If that is a small part of that page then this is OK... but if this is the main content of these pages then most of them will be filtered from search results.
I would try very hard to get evergreen content for each location. Maybe you can create a webform that managers at each location can type in something unique about their store. Or call each one and talk with manager to get good unique text on each page.

verbal driving directions... square footage, store exterior description, nearby businesses, write a pitch to nearby universities, large employers, business plazas
whatever you write, keep it evergreen... you don't want to be updating this every few months

Partner outranking main site in local
I've been working on local for a client, and it looks like the partner's name and one review is outranking the firm name and it's 20 reviews. The firm's GMB profile is better, but they're still buried. Any advice?

About page showing in SERPS instead of Home page
I launched a daycare website a few months ago. For some reason Google does not like my home page. I know there is a lot more I can do to promote the website in general, but I can't figure out why, when I search for the brand name, the about page shows up followed by a few external listings, but no result for the home page anywhere. It is indeed indexed (checked site: and tried searching for an exact phrase in quotes and ran all the tests in webmaster tools), but it just isn't showing up. Can anyone see anything I'm missing? If you google "hello world daycare" (in victoria bc, canada) you'll see the about page for helloworlddaycare.com. Any help you can provide to solve this mystery would be much appretiated!

Does adding the city to your business name in a Places page help or harm Local SEO?
Hi, All! Another local SEO question... For one of our clients, the title on their Place page is <official business="" name=""><city>. Example: John's Sporting Goods Detroit. Now, most citations will say "John's Sporting Goods." Is having "Detroit" as part of the business name in Places problematic (NAP inconsistency) and we should remove it, or is it helpful for ranking for "sporting goods detroit" or is it neither?</city></official> Thanks! Is my Google Places page ok?
Hey everyone, Google Places is incredibly frustrating for me. One day we are listed, the next we are gone. If I am logged in to my Gmail we rank differently altogether. Trying to rank for vet las vegas (ideally. Any tips or thoughts? Are there any sites that will track your rankings in Google Places for different listings? Is my places description ok? How often does Google Places update their listings - find new reviews, update their "find our more about this place" section, etc.? Anything else? Thanks for your help! Brant

Local search optimization for national product?
Hi all, My company sells a direct-to-consumer product nationwide. We have competitors that sell through local distributors. Therefore, many customers think that this is a product that must be bought locally. Because so many people search for this product locally, we want to be able to rank for local searches. But, because we sell nationwide, we don't have localized content. We have a competitor that created a page for each state which lists every zip code and city name in the state, but that seems pretty labor intensive (and not all that effective). Any ideas on how to address this problem would be much appreciated. Thanks!
