Our website has seen a steady decline in rankings over the past few months, is there any merit to paid bulk directory submission? Or could it potentially harm our campaign.

Our website has been experiencing a slow but steady decline in rankings despite our activity on social media platforms, is there any value in paying a large sum for bulk directory submission? Or will this only result in our overall website authority decreasing further due to unnatural links.
Would really appreciate any help.

I think the pest control space offers huge potential for link bait and viral marketing as well! The papers here in London are always writing articles on the rat population exploding and "taking over the city". I guess people just love reading about that stuff.

I used Localeze in the past and they include most major directories you want to be featured in. But you want to make sure that you check and, where possible, tailor Google Places and other major listings. I also used to benchmark the most popular services and tweak keywords they use to make sure I would rank higher for my key terms.

Thank you all.

You could be experiencing soft hits from the Panda algo.
Do you have problems with....
--- duplicate content
--- thin content
--- heavy ad density
--- very little content above the fold
--- slow response

Hi Peter
If you are working with a website that has a local audience make sure you are taking advantage of Google Places as well and adding the business to some local websites such as Yellow Pages, Start Local, True Local and Hot Frog. Make sure you use the same address in all instances and this address in on the website.
Also try Googling Australian Business Directory, Sydney Business Directory, 'Local town' business directory and also Pest Control Directory as it is good to get links within your vertical both industry and geographically although doing solely directory link building isn't the answer it's a good start and you may find some quality links this way.
I think you will have more success if you target more Australian websites than the more international list on Seomoz and wouldn't recommend the bulk submission option, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is!

Bulk paid directory submission is not the answer you are looking for. Not to say that you won't necessarily receive a boost from this, in some cases paid directory submissions do help. However, the boost may be temporary, especially if you are playing in a competitive market.
I agree with Lavellester - start reviewing your competitor's link profile, and look for quality link opportunities on a regular basis (link velocity) rather than one-off hits.

I'd be tempted to first look at your competitors and evaluate their link profiles and link strategy amongst other things to get a handle on why they are currently ahead of you. Once you have this info you can decide on your next move.

Does Dofollow links from forumn profiles, blog comments, business directories or article directories etc have any impact?
Hi guys, So looking at my competitors in my city a lot of the people ranking on 2nd, 3rd pages and so forth have little or no quality backlinks, instead, their links are all from business directories, forum profiles and blog comments. I saw google employees saying easy to create links hold very little value and it's easy for the algorithm to distinguish been easy to obtain backlinks and difficult ones. From what I see on my competition backlink profiles, they may not get them to the front page but they do get them to pages, two three and four. I was wondering if creating say 20-30 easy links per week and also focus on obtaining high-quality backlinks. Would they be any penalties for 20-30 easy to make links a week from Google? Cheers

Directory Submissions = Negative?
I see that a lot of SEO companies offer a large 5,000 directory submission package with slow, 160 day submissions. I don't mind spending the money to have this done, but my question is... would they help, or would they actually hurt my rankings? Since a lot of these directories are basically just copies of each other on different domains. As an added question, would it be worth submitting to all of the general directories on this list? http://www.seomoz.org/directories

Starting My First Backlink Campaign
Hi Team, I've started my first campaign and would like some advice on building backlinks. I have got the no. 1 competitor's backlinks through OSE. Here is the first backlink URL as mentioned in OSE. for them: www.uofaemergency.org/ (DA: 45 PA:44) However the backlink appears on another page of that domain, not on the homepage as it says in OSE. That backlinking page as a PA of just 1. Do I go for the homepage or the page on which the competitor's backlink appears? It is an unrelated site to the niche and the content in which the link appears is nonsensical. Does this matter as far as link juice is concerned? Is this a good site or page to get a link from? How do I go about getting an in content anchor text link from this site? What's the required process? I would like to start buidling good links asap and start to get rankings for my site. Thanks. Sunil.
