Deciphering Facebook backlinks
-
I monitor our web traffic in real time using Woopra. I often make on-the-fly decisions about which AliveChat window to activate based on the backlink. The FB backlinks are encoded with something like http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http://www.mydomain.com/&h=PAQFRib7D
Is it possible to see which FB page that link originated?
Best,
Christopher -
I'd love to hear how it works for you! Be sure to respond once you've had a chance to install it and watch a couple days worth of data.

OK, thanks Jen, will do.
Best,

I'm saying, add the Facebook Insights for your website, which shows popular content and other information based on what's being shared on FB from your website as opposed to what's happening on your FB page. Then you can get that information. Check out the post I linked to which gives you instructions on setting this up.

Hi Jen, thanks for responding. I'm probably missing some key point, but I can't seem to find what I want. Insights says quote, "Who Is Talking About Your Page". That's precisely what I want to know, but it only shows demographic charts, and does not show who is talking about my page.
I got a viral lift this week and I have no clue why. Are there features that will reveal this information, I do I just have to guess at it?
Best,
Christopher -
Hi Christopher! First off, I'm really sorry I actually thought I had responded to this a few days ago! Maybe I only responded in my head.
So, as far as I know you can't tell exactly which page it came from by the URL id. However, I wanted to ask if you have FB Insights for your site installed? You can read a bit more about it in this post: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/4-facebook-marketing-tactics-you-might-not-know-about. This might be able to get you what you want. Sadly I just went in to double check our data, but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. I'll try to check back later though! I'd give that a shot.
Hope this helps,
Jen

I received an unusual lift today from Facebook, but I don't know how to interpret the FB back-links so I don't know who posted something about our site. Any ideas on how to interpret FB links? I can't imagine this is a unique request, but I don't see any discussion searching with Google.
Best,
Christopher

Google Analytics / Facebook UTM
Hello, I have a quick question. I am setting up conversion tracking for my Facebook ads, so I am giving each ad set a tracking URL (UTM) in order to see which ads are converting etc. Is it possible to see on analytics how much I am spending on these ads or a cost per conversion? Or does the tracking merely track general analytics data such as bounce rate, exit rate, revenue generated etc? Kind Regards, James

Someone mentioned us on facebook and brought 10k clicks to homepage.. how do I find the content?
So this morning our website started to go crazy with hits all coming from Facebook, and I am trying to figure out how I can see who was talking about us? All the traffic landed on one page specifically. When I look in analytics it just shows social, and then I can drill down to see they are coming from facebook, but that's it.

Google Webmaster Tools not displaying all backlinks
I was asked to take a look at a site that a friend redesigned and immediately plummeted in rankings. It was a flash site where the domain redirected to a flash landing page. When the site was redesigned, they removed the flash page and put in the new site on the domain URL without changing the redirect or putting a 301 in place on the old flash landing page URL. This site didn't have many backlinks to begin with, but it did ok for some important search phrases. Now when I look in Webmaster Tools, there are only 2 backlinks showing. Meanwhile I know there are more backlinks in existence, primarily from yellowpages and citysearch. I've had them put a 301 on the old flash landing page pointing at the domain URL and they've added a canonical URL. What have I missed here?

Large recent drop in "Domain Authority" and backlinks through OSE
Hello, I've noticed that our sites domain authority has dropped enormously this past week according to Open Site Explorer. It also shows us as having lost about half of our backlinks. Google webmaster tools doesn't show a corresponding drop in links and we haven't done anything to our domain recently. Anyone have any ideas what might have happened? Our site is at: http://www.GoldMaxUSA.com Thanks!

Backlinks on Google Webmaster Tools
As I was reviewing my Google Webmaster tools, I notices a major drop in the number of back links. It used to show over 4,500 links to my site yet the other day it dropped down to 41. None of the directories I've submitted to are showing, nor any blog comments I've posted. Since then, my SEO traffic has started to drop for some keywords. Anyone know why?
