How come the results in Google vary with domains
-
Hello,
How is everyone doing? My question is about the google search engine results page. How come some results have the www. in front of them and some don't. Also what are the SEO implications of having www. in front of your search results vs. not. Is this something to do with canonical? I have included a screen shot so you will see what I mean. One result is www.gearyi.com and the result without the www is ingenexdigital.com.

It does not matter if you make the wwww or non www the canonical. you need to 301 redirecet the other.
If you mean use a canonical tag, using the canonical tag does not move the users to the prefered version of your domainname. so someone copying a link will copy the wrong version.
If you have a windows server i have some easy to follow tutorials here.

Alan,
Thank you for answering my question so quickly. What are the advantages to using a 301 redirect vs. making the www page the canonical one?
-
the www is not needed and not eveyone uses it. www and non-www are 2 different pages as far as google is concerned.
you should have a 301 redirect from one to the other so that you do not split your rank.
Choose if you want www or not, then do a 301 redirecet to that version, with a 301 redirecet any links pointing to the wrong version will be redirected to the correct version, but it will lose a little link juice in the redirect, but better than the rank being split between 2 versions

Good moz rank and trust, terrible page and domain authority
I have this happening both for page and domain. For domain the rank and trust are 5.2 and 5.51 but domain authority is only 48. My competitors with trust and rank between 5.5 and 6 have their domain authority in the 70-80 range. The same happens for home page metrics and the metrics are about the same. What can cause this authority discrepancy?

Why do keyword competition rankings differ between Google and SeoMoz?
I am a novice at keyword ranking etc. so I appreciate your patience! I checked a longtail keyword - how do i get out of this relationship - in Google AdWords and it came back 'low competition.' When I entered it in SeoMoz it came back as 'very competitive.' Any thoughts? I appreciate your help.

Why is razorservers.com the #1 result on Google for dedicated server hosting?
Why is razorservers.com the #1 result on Google for dedicated server hosting? The site also ranks well on Google for the keyword dedicated server. It outranks sites with a PageRank of 7 and 100k+ back-links. Thanks

One client - 2 domains / same business - good or bad idea?
This is a follow up to a previous question actually: My client has one domain that has 'hardwood flooring' in it and one that has 'concrete polishing' in it - both services they offer. **Would it be wise (for seo purposes) to have them both point to ONE domain (more general of course) ** **- They only have a few local competitors that aren't doing anything to rank well. ** **- They aren't trying to rank nationally. ** If the smart thing to do is to have them point to one (more general) domain using a 301 direct will there traffic drop significantly? (at least for a short time) Does it matter if they continue to keep the existing domains they are using now on their literature, business cards, etc. and let them continue pointing to the new domain or should they really start promoting the new domain name? (They do NOT want to do this). My only concern is saving them time and money by not having to build links, submit articles, social media, on and on for two different sites OK, that's like 3 questions Thank you VERY much for any thoughts or opinions on the matter! 🙂 Have a great week everybody! Duplicate content for www & non-www results
why would my campaign show duplicate content entries for www & non-www versions of my url? Here's an example I have a page called 'mydomain.com/resources/', and the campaign analysis shows it as being duplicate content, with the duplicate being 'www.mydomain.com/resources'. I don't know where I can adjust this or if it is perhaps related to some other setting, like Google Analytics or something else. /G

Will changing my domain name from a .co.uk to a .com affect my SEO?
Hi all, The .com for my domain name has become available (I am currently a .co.uk) so I am looking to move over my website to this but first would like double check if this would have any affect on my SEO at all? As a company we mainly target the middle east (Although based in the UK) but at the time of registering years ago the .com was not available. Do I have a 'history' logged with the current .co.uk domain or is my website solely dominated by the content? Also, if I do transfer what would be the easiest way of doing this just changing the DNS to a different location (will there be a duplicate content issue on both domain names?). Thanks in advance!!

Google locations question for organic search...
If you set your Google location to "Dallas, TX" and you do a search for "web design dallas", my client shows up #4. If you change your google location to anywhere else in the US, he is #1. How can I be #1 in Dallas and the US? (My client is not really in Dallas but I didn't want to give away the city, their site, etc)
