Are Directories Good Links?

Are directories like yexts listings are good links?
-
I'd suggest Google searches using your keywords plus words like forum or online community. Here's a small business finance forum at http://www.smallbusinessbrief.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=37 where you can see what kinds of questions people are asking. You can go in and provide some advice in answers, or even use the questions as ideas for your own blog post.
A note of caution is that the owner of that forum is a known and respected SEO and will easily see through any attempts at blatant link drops; it's not one to try to spam.

Where can I find a forum for finance and business?

Excellent points already mentioned. Some directories are good and some are bad. Finding a forum / blog where your client can interact and share with others in the same industry is always great to find - if they get a backlink to their site of course. The important thing is that they bring value to the group and not approach it as a way to benefit themselves. (but it will happen). Good luck!

I still tend to believe the thesis that the more different your link profile, the better. Social signals, directories, guest blog posts, random blog comments, some bookmarks, some profiles, web 2.0 posts, articles, links from high authority sites - everything counts.

Yes, both website directories and business listing directories are good links. Just watch for the following when you build links like that:
- the quality of the neighbourhood (links to viagra, casino, porn sites)
- the Domain Authority of the directory
- are the links dofollow or nofollow
If the directory doesn't provide a link back to your site but only your physical address, that is still good, because with the introduction of schema.org and HTML5 tags showing the search engines what is the address and what is the brand name of the company; sooner or later Google will be precisely identifying your business address and your Google Places listing will benefit from it.

What is yexts listings?
It all depends on the directory. Some are good, some are bad.
I would probably not focus too much on directories but more importantly on related sites or blogs.

Greetings! Actually, got an doubt on linking to external site. The thing, i have working for roof marketers site. They have covered roof products. Each of the products have a page along with major keyword. Actually, i do link from other pages[internally]. Meaning,if i see any main keywords in different page then will link that to corresponding page/product[internally].This is what i am doing to get page rank. Now, my doubt. Some of the pages are having link with main keywords which directs to the third party site those who are really producing the products. But, i remove the third party-link which has with main keywords. Since already the site/my client site having pages for that main keywords. Can i just past RAW link like [http://www.thirdpartysite.com] or what do i do. But my client wants that link to be in content area. Do links from the second page of an article pass link juice?
I have been writing for some sites with a high overall page rank and the articles are being viewed as quality by search engines as well. However, they usually put a link to my site at the very end of the article and then break the article down into two pages to increase ad revenue. It seems that I'm not getting much credit for that link even if the page has a high SEOmoz/PR score. I want to know if I am getting the benefit from these links. If not, how do I make sure I get the most bang, even if my link is on a second page of the article? Here is an example of what I mean: http://www.forbes.com/sites/theyec/2012/08/22/kanban-for-customers-how-to-increase-transparency-in-your-business/

Is bold text anchor link worth the higher price tag in directory listing?
Does it make a difference with Google if anchor link text is bold? The niche directory is offering regular lifetime listing for $199 (actual page pr 6) or bold for $349 (same page, same position). Also bold link has option of including email address. Does email address have any effect on SEO? Seems like a bad deal for bold, isn't it?

Link value
Hi I have some links from blogs to our ecom website. My question is if anyone knows what happens if you have several different blogs on .blogspot linking in to you. Does that make them loose value because they are on the same domain? I can probably quite easily have 5-10 blogs on blogspot all with PA of 35-40 link in to us. Is it worth striving for or should i strive to get blogs that have their own domain to link into us instead ? Or equally important ? Dan Lærum

What to do with some good links I have?
I have some pretty strong links from relevant sources linking to the homepage of a site I deal with. The links are usually from a PR3-5 pages and display specific result about the linking site. Sometimes they come from badges. We offer several services, so sometimes the page is about one service and next time about the other. Currently all of my pages link to the homepage. Would it not be better to link to the specific product page related to the page I have? Also I can do a canonical to the service pages? Which would be best?

SEOs and web developers frequently leave links to their site in the footer of their clients' sites. Does this negatively impact the site with the links?
Does this provide any SEO value to the receiving site? Has anyone experienced problems doing this?
