Any idea why our sitemap images aren't indexed?
-
Here's our sitemap:
http://www.driftworks.com/shop/sitemap/dw_sitemap.xml
In google webmaster tools, I can see the sitemap report and it says: Items:Web Submitted:2,798 Indexed:2,910 Items:Images Submitted:3,178 Indexed:0
Do you have any idea why our images are not being indexed according to webmaster tools? I checked a few of the image URLs and they worked nicely. Thanks in advance,
J

Hi, Keri Margret
I am agree with you that Harald's reply doesn't make too much sense or it doesnt give clear ideas about the main question "why my all images are not indexed in Google Webmaster Tools?"
I have the same question as your. I have Submitted 21,442 Images for www.vistastores.com but only 11,762 are indexed!!!
You can see it on below image.
So Harald can you plz give exact & clear answer to us

I myself haven't submitted an image site map before, as I have a small site and the images seem to be picked up just fine. When I go to images.google.com and do a site search for your domain, I do see a large number of results (http://images.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1920&bih=871&q=site%3Adriftworks.com), so your images are being indexed. If I limit the site search query to images within the /shop folder, I see 73 results.
I'm guessing you've looked at Google's help at http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=178636 and http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=178644 regarding image site maps and troubleshooting site maps, respectively.
I'll check with the other associates to see who has image sitemap experience and can add to this thread.

Hi Harald,
I'm sorry to say it, but your reply doesn't make too much sense. Can you try rephrasing it?

Hi James, As you know that these issues are always remain because we have seen number of times that the if the website have number of pages then you will find that ,out of these number of pages some of the pages are indexed .i. e the number of pages are indexes are less as compares to number of pages in your sitemap. This is the only problem for which the Google themselves are not sure whether it will index all the number of pages it the sitemap.
Google also having the same issues with the sitemap images, they won't directly index the images from the sitemap but hey will indexed it indirectly.i.e they index the page that would have image in it.
This is cleared from the above that direct sitemap images would not be indexed.
This is not the only issue that I had seen but I had seen it number of times that if there are number of images in your sitemap then only few percentage of it are indexed but if you want to indexed it all the sitemap images then you should have to create the number of back links but one thing should be kept in mind that we have to create a quality back links because If we created the quality back links then it will helps to increase the ranking & all the sitemap images are indexed.
I hope that your query had been solved.

Good alternatives to Xenu's Link Sleuth and AuditMyPc.com Sitemap Generator
I am working on scraping title tags from websites with 1-5 million pages. Xenu's Link Sleuth seems to be the best option for this, at this point. Sitemap Generator from AuditMyPc.com seems to be working too, but it starts handing up, when a sitemap file, the tools is working on,becomes too large. So basically, the second one looks like it wont be good for websites of this size. I know that Scrapebox can scrape title tags from list of url, but this is not needed, since this comes with both of the above mentioned tools. I know about DeepCrawl.com also, but this one is paid, and it would be very expensive with this amount of pages and websites too (5 million ulrs is $1750 per month, I could get a better deal on multiple websites, but this obvioulsy does not make sense to me, it needs to be free, more or less). Seo Spider from Screaming Frog is not good for large websites. So, in general, what is the best way to work on something like this, also time efficient. Are there any other options for this? Thanks.

My old URL's are still indexing when I have redirected all of them, why is this happening?
I have built a new website and have redirected all my old URL's to their new ones but for some reason Google is still indexing the old URL's. Also, the page authority for all of my pages has dropped to 1 (apart from the homepage) but before they were between 12 to 15. Can anyone help me with this?

Some URLs in the sitemap not indexed
Our company site has hundreds of thousands of pages. Yet no matter how big or small the total page count, I have found that the "URLs Indexed" in GWMT has never matched "URLS in Sitemap". When we were small and now that we have a LOT more pages, there is always a discrepancy of ~10% or so missing from the index. It's difficult to know which pages are not indexed, but I have found some that I can verify are in the Sitemap.xml file but not at all in the index. When I go to GWMT I can "Fetch and Render" missing pages fine - it's not as though it's blocked or inaccessible. Any ideas on why this is? Is this type of discrepancy typical?

Removing a staging area/dev area thats been indexed via GWT (since wasnt hidden) from the index
Hi, If you set up a brand new GWT account for a subdomain, where the dev area is located (separate from the main GWT account for the main live site) and remove all pages via the remove tool (by leaving the page field blank) will this definately not risk hurting/removing the main site (since the new subdomain specific gwt account doesn't apply to the main site in any way) ?? I have a new client who's dev area has been indexed, dev team has now prevented crawling of this subdomain but the 'the stable door was shut after the horse had already bolted' and the subdomains pages are on G's index so we need to remove the entire subdomain development area asap. So we are going to do this via the remove tool in a subdomain specific new gwt account, but I just want to triple check this wont accidentally get main site removed too ?? Cheers Dan

We registered with Yahoo Directory. Why won't this show up as a a linking root domain in our link analysis??
Recently checked our link analysis report for 2 of our campaigns who are registered in the dir.yahoo.com (yahoo directory). For some reason, we don't see this being a domain that shows up as linking to our website - why is this?

Duplicate content issue index.html vs non index.html
Hi I have an issue. In my client's profile, I found that the "index.html" are mostly authoritative than non "index.html", and I found that www. version is more authoritative than non www. The problem is that I find the opposite situation where non "index.html" are more authoritative than "index.html" or non www more authoritative than www. My logic would tell me to still redirect the non"index.html" to "index.html". Am I right? and in the case I find the opposite happening, does it matter if I still redirect the non"index.html" to "index.html"? The same question for www vs non www versions? Thank you
