MicroSites built for unique theme for targeting customers with Build in Shopping Cart

I now that microsites have been frowned upon by may marketers as well like by many marketers.
One of my ideas is say you have many different products on one website but sometimes it is a bit difficult to really find.
We have built an shopping cart that allows our vendors to build a store and use the cart as their own but running off our servers.
What if you take that and combine it with an affiliate marketing strategy but could control the content for each site.
Let's say we build a site themed for Weddings and only had those products available in the cart for that theme and it catered information about the product for use for Weddings.
Another example would be Baseball: We did the same concept with the shopping cart only having the baseball products on that site.
We would provide the details that this is powered by the main company and is a sister site.
Could this type of idea be beneficial to extend our products for people looking for the product via nitch vs just random?
No link would go back to the main site as it would be it's own site.
I am calling a microsite only because it is like one in combination of an affiliate site but without a tracking code link but a place where the customer can buy directly from without leaving the site.

the product is for printed products such as banners, so breaking it down via nitch maybe able to narrow down the options for the customer when looking for such things as a wedding banner and we would of course have no duplicate content, titles, etc .....

Would you essentially have the same set of products with exact same product categories, product names, product descriptions ? If yes, this could lead to duplicate content issues. Also, since your "microsites" will be powered by the shopping cart on the main site, I am guessing all these microsites will have to be hosted on the same server ? In my opinion, there's definitely "some" value in trying to do this with this approach. It just depends on how big scale are we talking. I mean are you talking about 5 microsites or 50 ? It would be worth if you could build a wedding or a baseball related niche site with lots of good, unique content that is only on the microsite along with the products from the main site but having a different unique description that is different then your main-site. I would also start thinking about how would you build the domain authority / links to the microsites ? IMO this is a bigger discussion that you need to spend some time on.

Considering Using External Domain Name To Build Separate Community
We are currently working with a client who sells classic Chevy muscle car parts: www.classicmuscle.com. They also own OldMuscleCars.com which is being redirected to the classic muscle site. Through our remarketing efforts in Adwords, we've noticed a growing number of affiliate blogs/forums/auto community sites (ex: classiccars.com) where customers are hanging out and seeing our banner ads. Our thought is to potentially create a new community site centered around muscle cars in general (not just chevy which is CM's specialty) that can be used in part as a lead gen tool (banners and text links would lead back to the classic muscle site) as well as a platform to explore other highly sought after vehicles (potentially expand outside of current chevy models or into other brands like ford). My questions is what are the implications of creating a site like this and are there any concerns (ranking or otherwise) with linking back to the classic muscle site? KWs for review site: target *product* or *product review*?

Goal: increase organic targeted buyers traffic on a review site.
What I'm working on now: page optimization According to Google's Keyword Tool usually the keyword Product has 50x searches than Product Review. If you haven't tried it before you don't know how weird it sounds inserting too many times the keyword Product Review inside an actual review. Given that my goal is to increase organic targeted buyers traffic on a review site. My questions are: Do you target product or product review? If you target product review does it make any difference if I insert the keyword product review in sidebar, menu, footer, breadcrumbs instead than in the actual body of the review? What is best? Body or surrounding? Getting back-links on a blog is fairly easy. Link Building Intricacies
I'm about to embark on link building campaign. I have several key phrases that I want to develop such as "health & fitness products" and "vitamins & supplements". My site is specifically targeted at Australia men. Should I also aim to include the words "Australia" and "men" in my link anchor text? Or should leave the qualifiers to the title tag for my destination url? I'm also wondering, by having "health & fitness products" as my link anchor text and the same text in my title tag for my destination url, will that build value for the various keyword variations in my keyword phrase such as "health & fitness" and "fitness products"? Shopping comparison site referral traffic growth
Over the last 12 months we have been working with affiliates and seen excellent traffic and revenue growth from this channel (golf market). Over the same period we have seen a massive (60%) drop in organic traffic and 40% drop in organic revenue. Our rankings are comparable to last year. How Google Shopping Relevance Determined?
After looking at Google Shopping results, I was wondering how the "Relevance" is determined. It would obviously be hugely beneficial to be ranked as one of the top 5 most relevant products, since that is the default sorting criteria. Originally, I thought it was a combination of Price and Seller Rating. But after examining a few examples, that doesn't seem to be the case. When doing a search for "Radian XTSL" - a car seat that our website features - JustKidsStore.com appears at/near the bottom of the Google Shopping list, despite having a competitive price and ranking well for that term organically (8-13). http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=radian+xtsl&hl=en&safe=off&cid=15471698622239402479&os=sellers# Do you know what the ranking factors are?
