Outsourcing Link Building
-
I have searched through various freelance sites for link building services, and it looks like there are plenty of people who can get links on PR4+ sites at a pretty cheap rate. You know how they always say when it looks too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true? People are charging around $250 for 50 links on sites with good page rank, do follow, etc... Do you think it could help or hurt my SEO campaign, considering I have a good site with solid content and other good content posted on the web?

Thank you, Dr. Peter
You give some really sound advice. I was looking to outsource some of my link building to save some time, but now I think it’s more important that I focus on this area myself. Quality and credibility is key the project I am working on so I would not want to be penalised.

I had a freelancer in India contact me to do my link building. I have him create an excel report that for all the links he creates and I have trained him how to handle my account. He can do whatever he wants for his other clients but I am very specific about what I want and take the time to train him. I have found this to be the best way to work with outsourcers. No one is ever exactly what you want right out of the box.

Dr. Pete has covered this well. My advice is first not to buy links.
If you do insist on buying links or hiring a "guaranteed link-building" firm, however, I'd make sure to know their methods. Can they offer you a current client to look at? Will you be shown the links when they go live? If not, you'll probably find your "50 links" on terrible, irrelevant sites and on big lists of links.

The reality is that they might very well be able to get you PR4 links, but as Gareth said - PR is one tiny piece of the puzzle (and can be completely unreliable). Rand has a good post on link valuation here, and how complex it is:
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/10-illustrations-on-search-engines-valuation-of-links
These services also often use their own link networks, which have been hit hard by Google the last couple of weeks - expect that assault to continue. They won't get everyone, and some do it better than others, but the people charging $5/link are a lot more likely to get hit.
Keep in mind, too, that there's a lot of bait-and-switch in that industry. Someone might get you a bunch of links, wait a month, then sell those same links to someone else (and cut your links). That's the problem with a lot of these one-time deals. They also pull tricks to temporarily inflate the PR of the pages the links are on (like 301-redirecting other domains). By the time, you actually get the link, that PR4+ could be 3 months out of date (and may actually be a PR1).
I'm not saying this as a white-hat - some people buy links effectively, I'll admit. You do get what you pay for, though, and your risk isn't just wasting money - it's potential penalization and long-term problems. If you're going to buy links, make it part of a larger, more diverse strategy, and do it right.

This is the best company I have come across
-
Do you know any companies that do the quality links?
-
The domain might be PR4 but what will the quality of the actual page containing your link be? Sounds too cheap to be honest. These could just be profile links, where the site is trusted and has a high PR but they will just create a profile page for you buried deep in the site with no value and no themed content around it.
I've done a lot of research in outsourcing link building and I've found that the quality links cost around $100 per link. obviously if it's a quality link it will take them time to find and negotiate the link acquisition
-
On freelancer, some of links they are offering are just absurd. Like 1,000 pr5+ for $250. There is no way that is even remotely realistic. I am going to look over on elance and see if anyone has any realistic results and pricing.
-
Yes, both freelancers had an average rating of 9.9/10 after 200+ reviews.
-
Did the company you used have a good reputation on freelancer? Because some companies have a very solid reputation, so I am wondering what their link quality is really like.

I've used freelancer.com for link building on two prior projects. I was horrendously disappointed both times. Not only were the links of garbage quality, but the content that was created to surround the links was borderline unreadable and flat out incorrect.
On this project I'm staying away from freelance link building (though I may use that site still for other things). If I get the budget I might pay an SEO firm here in the states or somewhere in the UK, but I won't trust something so important to people who don't even take 30 seconds to research your business. If not, I'll spend a few hours a week doing it myself. It's not much but it's better than the alternative.

Yea...email me the details too! Thanks for the info Gareth! Hey Gareth....so you are saying that Domain Authority is more important that Page Authority....right? And you are saying Page Rank is worthless....eventhough I just had an SEO company say they would not work with me because my page rank is only a 1. ( 3 month old site)
-
Forget Pagerank... it means nothing. Look at SEOmoz's domain authority (DA) instead. If they can supply you 50 links on 50 different sites with a DA of over 50/100 each for $250.... then DM me their details!!

I would like to know the answer to this as well. PR 4 sounds pretty good compared to what I just received over the last 30 days.

Is there a way to use your other web properties for successful link building
We have two websites that align with it each other: Site #1 - Industry editorial website that provide high quality, original and current content. This site is mature and has high authority relatively speaking. Site #2 - Industry resource website that educates general public and insiders about the industry. Content is professionally written with fantastic art and basically breaks down different manufacturing processes/materials and walks people through the benefits. Would it be a sound approach to add anchor text/link within articles on site #1 to site #2? Below are a few scenarios: Article on site #1 is talking about using [manufacturing process] to make something and site #2has a page that describes [manufacturing process] in great detail. Article on site #1 is talking about using [material] and site #2 has a page that describes **[material]**in great detail. Article on site #1 is talking why its beneficial to use a particular [material] or [manufacturing process] and site #2 has a page that describes all benefits of [material] or [manufacturing process] in great detail. Obviously, this will only be sprinkled in here and there and not in every article. It should provide users with more insight but will SE's see it that way?

Link Building Recommendations Please
Hi - I am responsible for a small but growing number of websites for companies that serve the elderly population. I need help with link building for these websites and I'm looking for suggestions on finding one or two professionals to whom I can outsource that work. 1. Can you recommend anyone for this need, someone I can contact who you know to be qualified and professional? 2. Can you give me an idea of what such services should cost? Thanks!

How to build links for a domain name that is redirected to another url?
I'm helping a friend build links to his site because he recently moved across country. His primary domain isn't very SEO friendly (shef1.com) so he registered another domain (stephenshefrinphotography.com). Shef1.com has been around for awhile and has at least been crawled with a page rank of 1 so we decided to keep shef1.com as the main website and redirect stephenshefrinphotography.com to it. So for SEO sake I know it's best to at least have a keyword in your URL so I have been using the url stephenshefrinphotography.com in my link building efforts for local directories and blog comments. Is this the right way to go about this or should I be using the main url shef1.com? He had virtually no backlinks until I started helping him but the ones I have created over the last month are not showing up on the link analysis in my campaigns. I just want to make sure my efforts aren't in vain. Advice please. Thanks!

Link Building
I noticed another SEO builds backlinks (tons) on a social media profile that then has a link to his client's site. Another site he builds backlinks are a bitly account that 301's to the clients account. Why would you do this? Is it that you can build links indiscriminately to build a page up in PR to 3-4-5 PR, then pass that higher PR to your site (safe). Is that PR building method better than placing 100's of smaller PR links on your site? It seems logical that if you passed in a tremendous amount of juice to juice a site up to PR4, you won't make your main site PR4 by JUST that link. You would need to build a lot of PR4 sites to make your site PR4. Why not just put all the backlinks on the main page instead of building up secondary social profiles etc... Please reveal this secret. I know a lot of SEOs are using this method. Help 🙂

Using an SEO Agency to build one-way links for you via link exchange
There are a number of SEO agencies which offer link building as part of their SEO offerings. I believe they build one-way links to the client site, by offering another link in exchange to the liking site. So, if the client site is "C", and link is being requested from site "A", the site "A" owner is offered a link from site "B" in return. Is this a good and/or recommended practice?

Link Building: Feel like ive hit a wall
Hi, I have been doing SEO on my business website for about 4 years now. And it ranks #1-3 for my desired keywords and i always try to add new backlinks and keep uploading new content to a blog on the site as this is where nearly 100% of our customers come from so its important to me to rank high for the keywords related to my industry. However the last few months a competitor has taken over me for a certain keyword, i have researched their backlinks and site and from what i can see they have less content, and less backlinks, onpage seo isnt that great, and alot of the backlinks arent even related where all mine are in the same industry and i always research my backlinks to make sure that site has good backlinks also (i currently have about 48 root domain and 12,000 page backlinks for various pages of my website). The only thing they have over me is domain age, their domain is about 10 years old. I am also trying to target another hard to get keyword that im currently on Page 3 for, im sure over time i will rise to the top and its something i have to keep working at however i feel i wont get to where i want to be because im running out of ideas on where to get backlinks. After 4 years of building backlinks i feel like i have hit a brick wall, i started out by directory submission, then just links from other related sites, then i did a few article submissions and then i started finding it hard to get links so i started buying related links, however i seem to just keep buying and buying because im running out of ideas and it feels easier just to buy them, the only problem is its getting expensive and im now probably spending $80/month on paid backlinks! Although considering im not paying an SEO company its still a lot cheaper! I have gotten to the point where im researching sites that arent even in my industry (however still automotive related) and getting links on sites their on which was going really well, but now even that feels like its coming to an end and im back to submitting to directories their on. So other then directories, paid links, articles etc. what else could i be doing to build quality backlinks? I stopped doing articles because they were so time consuming and i felt like i was only getting backlinks from them that were worthless and held no authority. I have about 4 blogs (all on different IPs) would it be worth blogging on them and building content and dropping links from those to mine or is it not worth the effort when i could just submit articles to article websites?
