Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization | Help needed
-
I just ran a grade report for one of my niche websites and I can't seem to fix the following issue:
Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization
Easy fix Cannibalizing link "Buikspieroefeningen voor thuis en een lager gewicht" and "Buikspieroefeningen voor thuis"Explanation It's a best practice in SEO to target each keyword with a single page on your site (sometimes two if you've already achieved high rankings and are seeking a second, indented listing). To prevent engines from potentially seeing a signal that this page is not the intended ranking target and creating additional competition for your page, we suggest staying away from linking internally to another page with the target keyword(s) as the exact anchor text. Note that using modified versions is sometimes fine (for example, if this page targeted the word 'elephants', using 'baby elephants' in anchor text would be just fine). Recommendation Unless there is intent to rank multiple pages for the target keyword, it may be wise to modify the anchor text of this link so it is not an exact match.

Well, I've tried really everything (I believe) but this issue is not going away.
Could anyone help me out with this?My site = www.debuikspieroefeningenvoorthuis.nl
Thanks!

Owkej, thanks!
-
it must be talking of the rel=alternate links
I would not worry too much
-
keyword = buikspieroefeningen voor thuis
url = www.debuikspieroefeningenvoorthuis.nl -
and....
Is the error still showing?
What url? the home page?
-
Hmm I just created an On-Page Report Card for that specific keyword and url.
-
I cant see it either, not on your home page at least, are you sure it is your home page they are talking about.
They may be looking at this
-
Yes I understand the report statement, but I can't find myself doing that...

If you wanta a page to rank for keywordA, then it is better not have outgoing links on that page with the link text keywordA.
but dont go all un-natural over this, if it is necessary to have that link text then so be it, but if you cann avoid it then do so.

Keywords used to land on specific page?
Hi all, Does anyone know if there's anywhere where I can see what keywords are used in search engines to land on a specific page? I have access to the Google Analytics account and linked it to Moz as a campaign, but I can't find this data. I'm curious about this because a very uncommon word is used in a page title for a page I try to optimize. It's the Dutch translation of 'malicious'. And now I wonder if it's better to switch to a word that's used more often. Or if it's better to 'win the battle' on this (probably) rarely used word. I've used Google trends to see how many people use it, but it says there's not enough data to show the interest over time.

Should URL contain primary keyword or primary + extended keyword?
Hi All, This is a query regarding what keyword should be placed in URL. Below is the scenario. I have marketplace website where I can service providers with users. I have a page with a list of Dance providers and want to rank it for Dance Classes, Dance Coaching Classes keywords. Since these keywords represent same business purpose for us, should I keep the URL as www.abc.com/dance-classes or www.abc.com/dance-coaching-classes? What is SEO best practice in this scenario? Kindly suggest.

Do subfolders for grouping common services pages help SEO?
Hello, fellow MOZers. Here is the question: Is there any benefits/disadvantages of having pages, grouped by common type of service, to be put into subfolder with keyphrase-friendly phrase? Example: We have website https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com/ and several services under "SEO" niche, such as: SEO (page name seo-houston.php) Social Media Marketing (page name social-media-marketing-houston.php) Email Marketing (page name email-marketing-houston.php) So, is it better to have these pages in root directory like this: https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com**/seo-houston.php** https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com**/houston-social-media-marketing.php** https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com**/email-marketing-houston.php** OR is it better to group them in subfolder "houston-seo-services" for "extra" keyword and convenience reasons like this: https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com/houston-seo-services/seo-houston.php https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com/houston-seo-services/social-media-marketing-houston.php https://www.hyperlinksmedia.com/houston-seo-services/email-marketing-houston.php Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks!

How to fix keyword self-cannibalization?
page in question: www.bison-builders.com/lots-plans/bison-meadows-lots-1-6/ This page is the landing page for 6 custom home lots, available via Bison Builders. I fixed the overstuffing of 'Bison Meadows', it was on all image title, alt, etc. Should be right around 15. We are using 'Bison Meadows' as a keyword, because that's the name of the custom community. I don't want to change the names of the links, and I don't want to change the name of the keyword. How do I fix this self-cannibalization? FYI, I was thinking of directing all canonical URLs for individual pages to this page, but will wait til I know how to fix this first... Thank you!
