As a freelancer, what are the top 3 things you evaluate when contracted to SEO a website for a client?

- Keyword Research - Making Sure the right keywords are being targeted. Identification of Top10/50/100 Keywords, Current Rankings, Competition Identification, Analysis and Comparison.
- Site Index-ability, Keyword Targeting, Content Quality & any architecture level issues.
- Domain Link Profile, Strength, Social & other business initiativesand assets that can drive domain authority.
Dividing the above 3 points into On-Page (1st 2 Items) and (3rd Item)

- Keyword research - are they targeting the right terms?
- Crawlability - are spiders finding their pages easily? This includes site architecture.
- Content - are the pages any good/optimized.
And as a bonus you can explain to them how they're going to need to do some linkbuilding

Assuming this is an existing website, first I would take a moment to determine what had been done up till now; so onpage, backlinks, traffic, etc.; Second I would evaluate the UX making sure things flow for when the user is interacting and not causing a high bounce rate or other issues; Third I would analyze the competition as to determine an appropriate approach for the client to move forward on. With us we offer our advice as a consult and/or service, where they can then take the info somewhere else if they like, or have us perform the optimizations. Additionally we look at this a bit more in depth when in a real scenario, we try to bring a whole picture approach bringing in brand identity, development, and technology to aid in getting the desired results. Is there a way to host my website.com/BLOG URL PATH from a different host than my main website.com host? Is it accomplish-able with DNS settings or are there other considerations that might lead to complications doing this? Specifically, we are investigating install WordPress on a dedicated host, JUST to power the blog for our main website, but our main website is on an internal proprietary hosting and CMS. Changing top level navigation between site sections
We've got an internal proposal to change our top level nav depending on the section of the site. For example, on our homepage it might read: Products, Library, About with relevant links dropping down below. As we have varied products, the drop down underneath it would include the various families. When arriving on the product family page the top-level nav would change to represent more specific offerings. For example: xxx.com 1. Products; 2. Library; 3. About xxx.com/xxx 1. Product family 1; 2. Product family 2; 3. Product family 3; 4. Library; 5. About What are the SEO/UX implications of this? It seems confusing but allows more specific navigation via the main nav depending on the section of the site. Also it seems that an alternating TLN might not be too Google-friendly.

Website subscribe form.
Hello, Im working on a clients website and I have 2 box's. One is a subscription box and the other is a newsletter sing up. Subscription box is a google feedburner where every time there is a new post, it automatically notifies the readers. Whats the best strategy to have subscribe box since its confusing for readers when you have 2 forms. Thank you for your help.

After a website redesign, what is the impact and is it a good practice to use /v2/ naming convention?
Hi mightyful SEOMoz community. We just launched a redesign of our commercial website from https://www.data-field.com to https://www.data-field.com/v2/ All URLs from previous website were 301 permanent redirect to the appropriate page in the new website, and the root domains ( /, /v2/ ) send the users to their own language content /v2/en/, /v2/fr/, /v2/zh/ Up to here everything is fine. But then I setup the usual "Share" buttons, only to find that they were displaying a "0" count. Then I realized that it was because of the root URL change from / to /v2/ My question is the following: 1. Is using /v2/ a good practice? 2. If yes, then should I link the Social tool to https://www.data-field.com/ ( only ) instead of linking it to the actual page in the address bar? Thanks for your answers.

Do you have an SEO 'plugin' recommendation for SharePoint 2007?
I'm not a programmer and our 200+ person company isn't going to change their CMS just because I asked them nicely. Do you know of any SEO plugin I can use on SharePoint 2007? I just don't want to have to keep going into each of 110 websites time after time.
