Google Merchant Center Feed Disapproved - Data Quality Good - No Warnings
-
I have noticed Google Merchant Center has been making many changes of over the last month. Feeds can now be optimized for certain product attributes. The dilemma currently is that I have a Google Merchant Center Data feed that shows zero warnings and that the data quality is good. Unfortunately, the entire feed has been disapproved. Across many other websites that I noticed the same issues, I have been able to fix all warnings and the feeds are taken perfectly. This one sites issues are eluding me.
Anybody have any suggestions or experience dealing with this problem?
Possible issues I have looked into but could be affecting feed.
Merchant Center Guidelines have been reviewed multiple, multiple times and here is what I have found.
1. Website has limited duplicate content taken from distributors product listings (I have fought a unending battle with site owner to make all product content original)
2. Refurbished Products Issue: The sites feed has listed all products as "new". I found some of the product content in the site had "refurbished" listed. The guidelines state that products must be listed & marked as refurbished in the feed. To overcome this issue I disabled all refurbished products and resubmitted the feed. This did produce a good approved data feed.

David,
This looks very interesting. I am running a test on the results now and can already see errors in the list above that I also noticed. Thanks for your input and information about the feed checker. This will certainly get me going in the right direction.
Best Regards,
Josh

Before I got these result back I saw that you are using > and & in your google product category.
Try formatting it like this:
Home & Garden > Kitchen & Dining > Kitchen Tools & Utensils
with & replacing & and > replacing >
Also dump your expiration date. You don't need it. Google Base just sets it to a month and then you set it to fetch your feed every week/day so it never expires.

sorry for the delay... the message to say you had replied was in my junk folder.
Are the MPN's actual Manufacturer Part Numbers? Or just something you made up?
I'm running a few tests on the feed now.

Hello David,
Currently all the products are have been assigned a google product category.
For example, Electronics > Audio > Audio Players & Recorders
The products all have designated unique product identifiers.
For example, Google: [g:brand] & Google: [g:mpn]
When uploading the XML feed to Google Merchant Center, data quality is good and no warnings are recognized. All products within the feed are being disallowed.
I am still wonder if this is a issue with the having refurbished products previously being labeled as "new". All refurbished have been disabled from site so the new feed only contains new products. After making adjustments the feed is basically being denied.
Here is the XML feed URL: http://www.retrohomeaudio.com/gmerchantcenter.en.us.xml
Thanks for Inquiry!

do all the products have the correct google_product_category?
are the products "off the shelf" and as such require a MPN (manufacturers part number)?
can you past the title and the first line of the csv file so I can take a look for you?

Google showing different links in SERPs
Google search results are showing my site links in both URLs, "mydomain.com" and "https://mydomain.com". However the one with https is showing a favicon, and the other one is not. So i wanna keep the https one and remove the other one. I went to GSC to submit "mydomain.com" for removal and it said that URL will be deleted in ALL of its variations. So how do i delete the "mydomain.com" links? Should i just index the ones with https again? Would that work? Someone suggested me to do 301 redirect on all pages that are being displayed twice. But i am not sure if i need to do that since i am using squarespace, and both of the links lead to the same page?

Google Fetch and Render - Partial result (resources temporarily unavailable)
Over the past few weeks, my website pages have been showing as partial in the Google Search Console. There are many resources/ files (js, css, images) that are 'temporarily unreachable'. The website files haven't had any structural changes for about 2 years (it historically has always shows as 'completed' and rendered absolutely fine in the search console). I have checked and the robots.txt is fine as is the sitemap. My host hasn't been very helpful, but has confirmed there are no server issues. My website rankings have now dropped which I think is due to these resources issues and I need to clear this issue up asap - can any one here offer any assistance? It would be hugely appreciated. Thanks, Dan

Its related to Google News & Apple News - for my research work
1) What point of day readers read news on Google News generally? 2) Are there any special tags to rank higher in Google News? Is standout tag still relevant? 3) Is there any special way to rank in “Featured”, “In-Depth”, “Most Referenced” etc. categories in Google News? 4) How much traffic do big sized media publishing companies get from Google News? 5) To how much extent Social Media is responsible for rankings in Google News? 6) Even when the website has articles which are centered about trending topics or top Google News and are posted timely, why they are not able to rank in Google News? 7) What are ranking factors in Apple News? 😎 Best practices for stories to be on top list of Apple News? 9) How much traffic do big sized media publishing companies get from Apple News? 10) What point of day readers read news on Apple News generally? 11) Are there any special tags to rank higher in Apple News?

G is for Google
So if you haven't heard already - Larry Page released a statement regarding the newly founded company: Alphabet. Crazy to think that the name hadn't even been used before for one but most importantly throughout his write up - there doesn't seem to be much clarity on what it is going to accomplish. Are there any clear, significant differences between Google SEO and Yahoo/Bing SEO?
I have a client who is very focused on getting ranks in Yahoo! Convincing him that focusing on Google is much more important isn't going to happen. He uses Yahoo! He ranks very well in Google, and his site is relatively well-made with no glaring on-page issues. His backlink profile is also not an issue. I'm trying to find ways to rank specifically for Yahoo! since we're ranking well in Google and the client cares a ton about Yahoo! I know Yahoo! uses Bing's algorithm, but results aren't identical in the two engines. Does anyone know of big, glaring difference in the two algorithms that would result in great Google ranks, but almost non-existent Yahoo! ranks? I have him in Bing webmasters, his local SEO and citations are good, his backlink profile is good, and his on-page is decent.

Deleting a duplicate google places listing
Hi i currently have duplicate Google places listings for a store. One of the Google Places listings is mine (which is correct) and the other is a listing which someone else put up (which is wrong). Which is currently sending customers to the wrong location. I tried to claim the listing by clicking: If you own this place, claim it and edit it directly Which takes me to this page: This Listing Is Unavailable You may only access listings that you own. If you created this listing with a different Google Account, please log in to that account and try again. If you've deleted this listing, you may create it again in Google Places. Is my own option at this stage to leave a comment with additional details use: IMAGE ATTACHED And select 'this is a duplicate listing'? I would imagine this would take sometime, and i need it changed as soon as possible. Any suggestions? screenshot_133.jpg

Google Places Citation Differences
Hi All... I know its important to get citations the same in terms of company name, address, phone number and URL but how dissimilar can they be before this causes problems with Google Places? One of my clients has citations with very minor differences to the correct address i.e.: 2a such and such a road when it should be: 2 such and such a road I cannot see duplicate listing for the company. Anyone got any ideas / experience of this? I don't want to suggest changing them all if its not nessasary? Cheers in advance. Justin
