How do you build domain trust and authority ?
-
I am doing some link building and was hoping to get some clear information about the quality of the links and what I need to build a higher domain trust and authority.
My sites page I wish to build for has: DA 22 PA 33 MR 4.6
I am looking at back links with these figures
Considering outbound links are equal, which pages can help build my page ?
page1 DA 66 PA 48 MR 4.8
page2 DA 66 PA 35 MR 3.75
page 3 DA 66 PA 28 MR 3.5
page 4 DA 41 PA 18 MR 2.73
Page 4 DA 41 PA 18 MR 1.87
Do I need back links with a Domain Authority Higher than my own ?
PA higher than my own ?
or MR higher than my own ?
or would any of these pages be able to improve my own ?
Thank you in advance for helping with this as I do not want to spend 6 months building the wrong links.

Hi Joseph,
From a purely numbers point of view, all of this links could help your site's metrics, but I think we're missing the larger picture.
Before we talk about that though, here's a couple of pointers:
- don't forget about MozTrust in your metrics, especially dealing with directory sites. Sites with high MozRank and low MozTrust should be avoided
- Also when dealing with directories, this is one of the few times that looking at PageRank is actually useful. A big difference between MR/DA and toolbar PageRank is a big warning sign that the directory might have been penalized
What's more important is probably the relevancy of the page. This is even more important than the metrics. A link from a relevant high trusted domain, even if it has almost zero MozRank, is better than an off topic link in the footer of page with great MozRank (some exceptions apply)
Hope this helps! Best of luck with your SEO!

DA and PA are calculated by links and quality of the links.
And the trust ranking is based on the above along with the age of the domain.
Honestly, if you are doing these just for higher DA and PA, it won't do you too good. Quality links are really what gets business. If I get 1,000 links from toilet blogs and I sell TVs, their links won't mean a thing to me because no one will click those links.

Well,
I would like a general answer about the DA, PA and MR for sure.
However these particular pages are from directories listed here on SEOMOZ's list of directories worth exploring.
All would be links in a category for my site.
There are both free listings
and a fee to review the listing option. ( considered a paid link ?)

Are the sites relevant to your site? Will they be useful to the users of the other site? Are these links paid?

301 Redirect Only Home Page/Root Domain via Domain Registrar Only
Hi All, I am really concerned about doing a 301 redirect. This is my situation: Both Current and New Domain is registered with a local domain registrar (similar to GoDaddy but a local version) Current Domain: Servers are pointing to Wix servers and the website is built and hosted with Wix I would like to do a 301 redirect but would like to do it in the following way with a couple of factors to keep in mind: 99% of my link are only pointed to the home page/root domain only. Not to subdirectories. New Domain: I will register this with wix with a new plan but keep the exact sitemap and composition of current website and launch with new domain. Current Domain: I want to change server pointing to wix to point to local domain registrar servers. Then do a 301 redirect for only the home page/root domain to point to the new domain listed with wix. So 301 is done via local registrar and not via Wix. Another point to mention is it will also change from Http to Https as well as a name change. Your comments on the above will be greatly appreciated and as to whether there is risk in trying to do a 301 redirect as above. Doing it as above it also cheaper if I do the 301 via the wix platform I will need to register a full new premium plan and run it concurrently to the old plan whereas if I do it as mentioned above will only have the additional domain annual fee. Look forward to your comments. Mike

4-5 New High Quality Links/Month, Enough to Increase Domain Authority?
The link profile on our domain is poor and our domain authority is only 18. In April we migrated domains and our domain authority tumbled from 24 to 8 and as of August had recovered to 18. Since August we have engaged in a link building campaign. We are getting 4-5 new links per month. They are good quality. Can we expect to see see an increase in our domain authority? If so, when? The domain is www.metro-manhattan.com. The new links to date are below: <colgroup><col width="114"><col width="252"><col width="377"><col width="296"><col width="97"></colgroup>

Geo-target .ag domain?
Hi Guys, We are looking to purchase a .ag domain for a agriculture website, we want to target two countries Australia (primary) and United States. So the main site e.g. www.farming.ag (will target Australia) While the www.farming.ag/us/ sub-folder will target the United States From my understanding through after reading this: https://www.name.com/domains/ag .ag is for countries Antigua and Barbuda. So i was wondering can you even geo-target to Aus or even the sub-folder to United States in search console? Any advice would be very much appreciated! Cheers.

Domain Mapping, WordPress MultiSite
Hello, With WordPress MultiSite, does Domain Mapping negatively impact search rankings? I am wondering if the search engines can tell if the Domain is part of a MultiSite Network. Or does it just see the site as a regular website? I understand the issue of IP Address and C Blocks but I'm wondering if the search engines will treat a Mapped Domain Name as it would any other website that is on a shared hosting account. Thanks

Citation Building + Citations in Text
Hi, One curiosity led to another and hence I have a couple of questions which I am not sure if they are related or not. 1. What is citation building, what value does it have and what is the best way to go about it? The above question came up whilst trying to find information for my next question. 2. Do 'citation' HTML attributes in the text content of my web pages have any value for SEO. These citations are where you highlight a word and then add a kind of alt text tag to it that appears when you hover your mouse over the relevant text. The HTML for it looks like this. <cite title="is a reference to a published or unpublished source">Citation</cite> 3. Should I be using 'title' attributes rather than 'citation' attributes? Thanks

Consolidate 150 domains to 1
Hi! Just as the questions tell we are looking at a project where we might have to consolidate 150 different domains into 1 (of course with a corresponding page on the new domain). We aim at preserving as much of the linkjuice as possible from each domain. Any advice on doing this propely? I, of course, see a risk of opening the new domain and just redirecting (301) the old domains to the specific page on the new domain but is there any right or wrong way of doing this? I might add that each domain has a more or less unique linkprofiles in terms om linking domains, number of linking domains and such. Our dear friend Cutts has some information on this topic, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7M22teF3Ho but he only talks about 4 domains - which of course seem like a bit more natural occurring phenomenon. But what about 150 of them? Anyone got any advice? Is this as much of a no-go that I feel it is? Thanks! Edit: There domains are all owned by the same entitiy, share the same GWT and such.

Multiple domains expiring that have 301 redirects to my primary domain. Am I in trouble?
I recently took on the SEO of a large website with http://example.com. My predecessor bought 40 plus domains for specific cities like Jacksonvilleexample.com, Miamiexample.com, etc. ZERO of the additional domains linked to our main website. The domains that were bought basically had our exact same website in terms of content, links etc that mirrored our main http://example.com. I added 301 redirects to help problems that may be a result of this type of structure. Some of the additional domains were indexed and some were not but all have 301's and as far as traffic is concerned I'm not worried about loosing short term traffic. My question: All the domains are set to expire in June and I don't want to continue to have them 301 redirected to my main domain (example.com). I'm not trying to avoid the additional cost of all the domains but I don't see an advantage to having them so CAN letting all these domains expire hurt me from a long term SEO position if I don't renew them?

Content on New Domain or Sub Directory of Existing Domain?
I have a client with a well aged, high DA site. They rank well for their wedding photography business in several cities. They are launching a new service which is related to photography (photobooths and flipbooks) which they built and developed content on a new domain. The existing domain has 0 links with a DA of 1. The site is brand new.. Is there any drawback to moving the existing content on the new domain to a sub directory of the high authority domain? EX: http://domain.com/newcompany The look, feel, and design of the new site / service is much different than the high DA site. My thoughts are that this will give them an automatic step up, especially since they will be marketing this in several major cities. Also, since the design will be different, if it is good to move to the subdir, should we put the new company name in the subdir folder or something keyword friendly like domain.com/photobooth as opposed to domain.com/newcompanyname. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
