Bounce Rate Over 90%
-
Hi,
Can anyone tell me why I get a bounce rate of over 90%. Targeted keywords bring in traffic which is very relevant to someone wishing to make a personal injury claim, so I'm dumbfounded. I have had conversions over the last few weeks, but they now seemed to have stopped, which could only be an impact of the high bounce rate. I test the form everyday and it works fine.
My site address http://www.acompensationclaim.com
Any ideas?
Thanks
David

After conducting keyword research around the content on the homepage, the reasons those keywords are in the title tag is because these keywords are high traffic keywords, or at least when the SEO kicks in they will be. However, in response to the suggestion of 'personal injury lawyers'. If you visit the page http://www.acompensationclaim.com/personal-injury-claim.php you'll see that I'm targeting the generic personal injury keywords, those being "personal injury claims" and "accident claims". Judging from the content on the homepage, it is better to be more specific with the terms to the content on the page. Having the two high volume personal injury terms on the personal injury page is more relevant to the content on that page and therefore more likely to increase quality score search results. So I guess i'm saying, I don't see the logic in having personal injury type keywords in the title tag for the homepage on the homepage. It is only a 2 month old site but its got to be better for SEO in the long run too.
Additionally, although time consuming I'm going to create a page relevant to each accident type with (taking Whiplash as an example)
- What is whiplash
- What are the symptoms
- What is the average payout
- How long for a whiplash claim to be processed
- How to claim
I think by giving the searcher more information in this way and maybe backed up with some video, this should keep more users on the page for longer and bring hopefully bring down the bounce rate and increase conversions.
I main lesson is give the user what they want.

We generally look at bounces as an inherently negative action for the user to take, but that's not necessarily the case.
The one positive action a user can take is _calling! _If someone comes to the site and calls right away, _it's a bounce! _You'e got a strong call-to-action in the top right corner of the site, so that's definitely going to lead to a good number of visitors 'bouncing'.
Although all the comments are suggestions already listed are very well made, I don't think it addresses the issue as to why the site has an 90% bounce rate. The site isn't that bad. It's definitely not so bad that 90% of visitors that go the site and are leaving because they either don't feel the website has an answer to their question, or because they're completely turned off by the look & feel of the site.
The one thing to me that seems a little off is your title tag. 'Compensation Claim - No Win No Fee | A Compensation Claim'??? That may give a little bit of credence to the idea that you're attracting the wrong type of traffic and the user really is finding what they're looking for on your site. Why aren't you including phrases like 'personal injury lawyers/attorneys' or the firm's name in the title tag?

If your goal is for email capturing then I agree with the prevoius suggestions.
In addition, I would:
- Move the sign up form above the fold
- Like Ian said, the offer must be the highlight and it should lead into your form.
- Have a call to action (e.g. Start Now, Find how much you can claim today!, Complete the form to know your claim today!, Free compensation analysis, etc.)
-
A few immediate tips:
- Get rid of the stock photograph. It's a total turn-off, and the headline is obscured against the photo background. Try other images, or go for something simpler.
- Make the limited offer the main headline on the page.
- Use a separate landing page (not your home page) so that you can:
- Remove the navigation
- Reduce the brand and emphasize the offer.
- Check your writing. "Specialists" doesn't have an apostrophe, and if I'm going to trust you with my case, I need to know you're legitimate. Little errors reduce that legitimacy.
After that, you need to get an A/B testing regimen set up, and start trying different combinations of imagery and writing to get the best result.

There are a couple of reasons the content on your page might not match your keywords, if someone comes to your site and aren't finding what they're looking for then they're going to bounce!
Also, you might want to engage the viewer some more add a video, images, or a slide show.

Can Google Shopping Ads Lower Ranking due to Bounce?
I am noticing Google Shopping Ads are showing up for really irrelevant keywords on some of my products. This quite predictably causes a high bounce rate when a user comes from these ads. There is very little control over what Google Ads seems to decide are relevant keywords from what I can see. Only control is by viewing search terms and setting as negative keywords, but his doesn't help much. Negative keywords are often ignored or they come up with some other really irrelevant new keyword. Seems this high bounce rate could hurt ranking? Any experiences shared with Google Shopping ads appreciated!

Google Analytics showing my Adwords campaign bounce rate at 0%
I am relatively new to Adwords, and I can't figure out why the Adwords section of Analytics is showing all my site visitors at 0% bounce rate. Does that mean the account connection is not done right? Obviously Google ads are not a 0% bounce rate. If I can't get that to work, does anyone know how Google ads appear in Traffic? Is it Direct or Referral? I'm sure there's some simple answer I'm just not aware of, I would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks!

How to view the sources of visitors who bounced off in Google Analytics?
Hi there, we have a website with a more than 60% bounce rate. I'm trying to find out where these visitors (the ones that are bouncing off) are coming from, to what percentage are they coming from the PPC campaign, from organic search results or referrals. I suspect that the keywords from the PPC campaign are not relevant to the website content (and hence visitors are bouncing off). Does anyone know how to check this in Google Analytics? Thanks in advance!

Multiple visits with 100% bounce from 1e100.net
Hi guys, I'm seeing multiple visits via an Adwords campaign from domain 1e100.net. I've found that this domain is related to Google's safe browsing feature, and thought perhaps it's Google checking that my landing page is not a phishing site, but multiple visits in the one day? I've updated my destination url a couple times, but certainly not 10+ times. These visits are showing up as a bounce - they come in to my landing page, do nothing, then exit. Interestingly, when I break down the visit by originating country, they come from the US, whereas my paid search campaign is limited to Australia only. Would appreciate any thoughts 🙂 Cheers, Jez

Channel Conversion Rates
Hey Mozzers - i was hoping to have a discussion with you guys on conversion rates and would love any feedback on comparative metrics. I plan on keeping my client anonymous and feel free to do the same if you would like. Lets start with some background. This client is an online retailer selling golf training ads, the products range from $20-40, he is based out of the US and this site is targeting consumers (B2C). So far i have assisted him with some site analysis and setting up some pay-per-click campaigns. I feel like his site is doing pretty well conversion-wise but i have little experience with conversion metrics with ecommerce (mostly just lead generation, etc). Here is a quick break down on channel conversion rates: PPC: 0.8% - 1.7%
Paid Search Marketing | | kchandler
Organic: 6.8% - 15%
Direct: 6.2% - 13% His overall site conversion rate is between 2-3% So my question is to you guys. Is this average, above, or below in your past experiences? Based on my research a site conversion rate of 2-3 is pretty good for ecommerce, however i felt like my PPC conversion rate is kind of low. Thanks for the insight - Kyle1
