What Kind of Damage Comes From Switching "Official" Hashtag?
-
Last year we had a problem with other conferences / companies using a hashtag we had started using for our conference.
We stuck with a very similar hashtag for this year's event and are, of course, having the same problem. The event we're using it for isn't until October and already has a decent amount of buzz.
How much damage would we be causing by switching the "official" hashtag? And how do we get people to start using the new one and abandoning the old? Does anyone have a case study on this or a similar experience with this issue?

Thanks, Kane.

You're not going to see any damage in terms of SEO. I can hardly imagine a case where hashtag consistency directly or indirectly contributes to anything search-related. The decision should be made on what's best for the conference attendees. If they're seeing tons of junk in their hashtag stream, especially within 7 days before or after the event, then it's probably best to switch (and make sure your new choice doesn't have the same problem).
As far as buy-in, just make it very obvious to everyone what the new hashtag is - if it was really that much of an annoyance last time, the vets will do it and the new people won't know the difference. You can also have someone start sending @replies with the correct hashtag in a friendly manner if you really want to enforce the change.

Hi guys, I need to create a subscribe end-off to my YouTube videos. I need something like this - https://www.youtube.com/user/SeattleCoffeeGear - where the red gear at the bottom pops up with a bright red "subscribe" CTA. How do I do this?

LinkedIn switching links in messages to httpS?
One of my clients has been using the "Send a message" function in LinkedIn to reach out to folks with whom he's connected, and it seems that recently (though it could have always been this way), LinkedIn is changing the URL from http:// to https:// when he provides a link to his website. His site isn't secure, since it's not ecommerce and doesn't collect PII, and though I know that Google "likes" sites that are https, it doesn't seem like it's worth the investment. I did test this, and found the same "switcheroo" happening to me. Anyone know if this is a new LinkedIn thing, and if there's a workaround? Thanks for reading!

Linkedin "company website" link - any value?
Hi So, on Linkedin, I can put my company website. I've been trying to figure out if this is a nofollow, or do follow - or, not even really a link. Here's how it appears in my profile's source code Websites <a target="_blank" <strong="">href="/redir/redirect?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmaxvape%2Ecom&urlhash=MtlQ&trk=ppro_website">Company Website</a> Is this even a "link"? I'm guessing the way it is built, no it's not even a nofollow link. Secondly, does anyone know any good link-juice you can get form Linkedin. Thanks!

"Apply with LinkedIn" button
My client is a recruitment company and they've recently added "Apply with LinkedIn" buttons on their site for candidates. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the effects of adding this to SEO? I suspect it will have little impact, but thought I should research anyway. After a lot of searching, I can't find much on this topic with specific reference to this button. I've read LinkedIn are phasing this out too. Can anyone offer any insight into adding this button? Thank you in advance. Paul.

Is hootsuite damaging my online reputation?
Hi guys. I'm new to all this so bare with me. I've been using hootsuite to send out tweets. Originally the person doing it before me was sending them out every 5 or 10 minutes and repeating quite a bit. I've since reduced it to a tweet every 15 minutes and when there's something new on the site I tend to tweet it out about 3 times a day for the next three days at different times of day to try and make sure nobody sees the same thing too often. Obviously these numbers are significantly less for facebook and even fewer for linkedin. Am I still repeating myself too often? I'm trying very hard to find a balance between what people see as spamming and making sure that all our followers get a chance to see each new post. Any feedback would be really appreciated.

Any official stats on authorship impact on SERP click-throughs?
I'm trying to make another push to get authors on my site to set up authorship. Can anyone point me in the direction of any official stats from Google on the impact of authorship on SERP click-throughs? I've seen some articles on SEO sites that make it seem like the lift is anywhere from 20-40%, but those seem to be site specific cases. I'm wondering if there's any broader studies out there or official data from G. Thanks!

Is there any SEO benefit of adding the Facebook "Like" widget to your site?
A lot of sites put their Facebook "Like" widget on their homepage and it shows the number of people who like them. Is there an SEO or marketing benefit to having this. I could see how this can provide social proof to visitors. Are there any other benefits?

How much is enough when it comes to Social Media?
I have attended a number of social media webinars with tips on getting the most out of Facebook and Twitter. Now, I would like opinions from someone who is not trying to sell me something. We post 2 daily blog articles to our Facebook company page which auto re-posts to Twitter every day. Is that enough, or is it necessary to hire someone to engage people with additional conversation? If your answer is that additional conversation is needed, are there any companies or individuals that you recommend to provide these services at a reasonable cost?
