Google images hits distorting my results. What to do.
-
Hit from google images seem to be distroting my results. I sell airport taxis so want rid of any hots that came through google images as there no buying intent
Aanlytics shows (when i click in)
Traffic Sources > Search Engine Optimisation > Quires
250 clicks
All of which came from quires related to generic taxi terms which I do (unfortunately) rank for in search. I imagine these generated because I have a taxi cab image in page one of google images. So when people search for a picture of a taxi they click mine.
However in SEO MOZ the traffic data tab shows:
google = 219 clicks
images.google = 3 clicks
This should be the other way round shouldn't it?

Why not take advantage of it? If you own copyright of the image, you could offer the image in return for a link to your site. Use Search by image to find out if people are using it without linking back already.
If appropriate put some other great content on the page that contains the image that is likely to attract links, or see if you can monetise the page somehow. You're fortunate to rank on page 1 of Google Images, not unfortunate! Find a way to use it to your advantage.

Metadescription not being pulled by Google? Yoast v SmartCrawl?
Hey guys, For whatever reason, Google isn't pulling the metadescriptions I've provided for a wordpress site I'm working on. We had both Yoast and SmartCrawl installed, so I thought maybe they were confusing Google and deactivated Yoast. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the issue. Instead of using the text I've plugged into SmartCrawl, Google is just using snippets from the blog posts... And it's happening for every single post, leading to a huge uptick in metadata issues in moz. Any idea how to fix this?? Thank you!

Google search returns blog homepage, but not article
When I do a google search for a specific article on our blog the search results only return the blog homepage with the article title shown in the meta description, but never the actual article page. I've tried to refine my search by using site: and quotation marks around the article title (e.g site:www.example.com "article title") but still only get the homepage. Our blog is showing up so I assume it's not an indexing issue, but not sure how to get the article pages to show on serps. Any ideas? Thanks!

Indexed pages in Google webmaster tools
Hi Mozzers, Very quick question. Google WM tools interface has updated and I want to confirm I'm looking at the correct figure. If I look up 'Your site on the web' / 'search queries' / then the 'pages' - this is correct indexation figure yes? This differs from the 'site:' command but that's always the case. Can anyone confirm, Thanks

How long after a URL starts showing a 404 does Google stop crawling?
Before hiring me to do SEO, a client re-launched their site and did not 301 the old URLs to the new. Only the home page URL stayed the same. For a month after the re-launch, the old URLs returned a 404. For the next month, all 404 pages (basically any non-existent URL) were 301'd to the home page. Finally, 2 months after launching, they properly 301'd the old URLs to the new. Now, the new URLs are not ranking well. I assume it's too late to realize any benefit from the 301's, just checking to see if anybody has any insight into how long Google keeps trying to crawl old/404/improperly 301'd URLs. Thanks!

Does Google still see masked domains as duplicate content?
Older reads state the domain forwarding or masking will create duplicate content but Google has evolved quite a bit and I'm wondering if that is still the case? Not suggesting that a 301 is not the proper way to redirect something but my question is: Does Google still see masked domains as duplicate content? Is there any viable use for domain masking other than for affiliates?
